"Well, damn it!"
Lina slammed her pen onto the desk, her frustration returning as she considered the problem that had been troubling her for days. The empire was vast, yet finding someone capable of leading an army seemed almost impossible. Lorraine had plenty of skilled knights, but being an excellent fighter and being able to command thousands of soldiers were two entirely different matters. Count Robert von Löding was undoubtedly experienced in military affairs, but could Lina really entrust the mercenaries she had painstakingly gathered to him? Knowing the man's ambitions, she suspected that once the battle was over, those mercenaries would become his private army, and she would have no easy way of getting them back.
How could an empire this large have so few capable commanders?
