*ISAIAH'S POV*
"Who do you think will be fit for that role?" That question was nothing less than a nightmare for Alysaa.
She smiled softly and started glaring at me until she went to put Golden Eyes somewhere.
"Your Highness, wouldn't it be better if you choose someone rather than me?" She always becomes a sly fox when it comes to an actual task. No surprise she is trying to get me to do it.
"I have biases, and we clearly need to choose someone who would be best."
"Then, wouldn't it be a good opportunity for you to learn rationality and logic?"
"Just choose already."
"...Alright." That's when I knew this would only go south.
A smirk played on her lips as her eyes mocked me. As if trying to call me an idiot.
"Head Priest Hadeon... certainly wouldn't mind investigating this matter."
Well... what did I even expect?
"Okay then," I say. Alysaa looked shocked for a few seconds before she went back to her teasing face.
"Well, are you sure you wouldn't mind having to talk to him a lot?"
"What do you mean? I usually do talk to him a lot."
"So, you are saying that you are especially avoiding him now days?"
I had no words for her. I mean, it is true that I am avoiding him, but isn't it obvious that I would?
"Your Highness, Neo reported recently that something suspicious was found on Lake Hevir."
"What suspicious thing?"
"It is a magically enchanted book which hasn't been able to be opened."
"Isn't it common?"
She paused as she looked down. Something uncertain clouded her eyes as she wondered whether to tell me or not. Well, there is no way something is more serious than the issue right now.
Golden Eyes seemed to be broken. But its powers still work on people who don't have magic above a certain level.
"He says it is about Chandni Dance."
Well, now that's something.
I sighed and told Alysaa to talk to Head Priest Hadeon in my place. Each step after that felt as if I were carrying a heavy stone. At some point, I felt like something was choking me.
I slowly opened the door as I slid right inside that same decorated room.
Red Moon, Red Moon, Red Moon, Red Moon and Red Moon.
That is the only name which would come to mind if seeing those items in my room.
I scanned every shelf, every corner and every inch.
But it was missing.
Shit.
I ran as fast as I could. Grabbed a horse and started riding.
I could feel people's anxious eyes on me. Some of them screamed for me to stop.
But, I didn't because something is terribly wrong.
*HEAD PREIST HADEON'S POV*
Isaiah's face was mix of terror, anticipation and everything that comes when you see your ex-lover. But, that was the problem itself. He never had an ex-lover. That means it is about Red Moon again.
Something twitched in my eyes as I saw him slowly fading away. And without my permission my lips curved into something between smirking and laughing.
"Miss Alysaa, I think I have something urgent to tend to." I say as I turn to her.
"I see but I need one minute." Her eyes turned to the empty view where Isaiah used to be
"Please go on."
"Don't you think he was the wrong one?" Here. I knew this would come someday.
"Can you please elaborate?"
"Hadeon, it is a sin to fall in love with someone married but you know, Red Moon and Isaiah are worse then married. If Red Moon ever even looks at Isaiah then he wouldn't be even near your sight."
"I know." that's the only thing I can say.
"Then why? A butterfly who likes Moon, can't possibly fall for a rose, can it?"
"But, it isn't forbidden for rose to fall for butterfly, is it?"
Alysaa went blank. She had no words. And it should be that way. She isn't suppose to have word on this matter.
"Alysaa, I respect you. You are someone that I wouldn't harm. But that doesn't mean I would give you permission to have opinion on things that you aren't suppose to have."
Alysaa sighed. She looked tired. She looked as if she had seen it too many times to even deal with it. Well, she would have actually.
Everyone in the palace is comfortable around Alysaa.
And I am no different.
I had taken fancy to Alysaa to the point of telling her the deepest thoughts in my mind. And good for me, she neither takes it lightly nor seriously. She just knows and exists with it.
But, it wasn't the case when I told her that I like Isaiah.
She showed emotion. She started having her opinions.
Everything that I had expected early but never got was there on the table now. Yet, she looked as if this was another fleeting matter. For her, it must be.
And now, I had said what I should have said a long time ago. My mind seemed to lighten.
I walked past Alysaa and grabbed a horse myself. I rode until I was able to see Isaiah again.
Seeing him now, sitting on a horse, having that look on his face and being beautiful.
I feel relieved and also like I should just devour him and mark him as mine.
