Chapter 37 - Problem In The Making

Moonlight thought deeply for about a second, before making the decision that may cost him everything. Great Uncle came and gave him a reason why he should actually go to school. He strengthened his resolve and gave 'yes' as an answer.

Though, Phoenix wanted him to go, her expression still gave away that she didn't.

Just after, Phoenix informed the house that she was going to write a letter. As she said that, Phoenix sluggishly went to her room and sat on her private desk.

In less than ten minutes, she was done.

An envelope was handed to Febia. It was sealed in a special crest. Phoenix tasked Febia to deliver this to the mail and by noon, Febia went out in casual clothing to complete it.

Moonlight watched her leave from his room's window.

"Was this a good idea?"

He said to himself the moment she crossed the big black gate. Moonlight crept to his bed, picked the rowl up and placed it on his chest.

The room turned sully, his eyes focused on the walls, his leg and resting on the white sheets and his mind drifting through a sea of thoughts like always. He closed his eyes, with a desire for sleep and he fell to a deep sleep.

While he slept, time still moved.

Phoenix was seated on a sofa at the parlor. Her arms rested where her head did, her eyes looking to the ceiling. The afternoon sun sipped directly to the parlor and rested on her chocolate skin. She moved her hands and scratched her long smooth black hair.

"What's so fun in this…?" She whispered and left for her room.

Febia returned by evening, visibly angered. She opened the door with a loud bang that woke the whole house up. As she walked, her feet could be heard as it stamped on the floor with great rage and anger.

Phoenix showed up and stopped her little rampage.

"What happened?" She asked in the softest and lowest tone possible.

Febia seemed to calm from just hearing it. "Hrrgh! The line was too long. I had to wait for hours on end just for my turn to reach."

"Hmm, you should have shown them the Adna crest and you would have been done." Phoenix replied.

Febia clicked her tongue, her anger rose once more. "Do you think I don't know?!"

Phoenix gasped.

"I knew! But, at the end! It was only after there were two more people in front that I realized!"

Febia immediately broke into tears after saying this. Crouching, and covering her face right beneath Phoenix. Phoenix felt sorry and softly tapped her shoulders.

"There there, I could have gone but I felt you haven't seen outside in forever. Sorry, I'm so sorry."

Hearing this, "Then why didn't you?!"

Febia immediately got up and left.

The scene ends with Phoenix saying 'What's wrong with her?"

However, as things seemed like trouble for Febia, who sent the message; on the receiving end, things were just about to stir out of control once more.

There sat a man in his 50s playing on a black office chair. His desk was filled with various files which were arranged to the left. Beyond the desk, was a man in glasses who looked to be in his 30s, his name was Ogmich; while the other was Eibe.

"You seem to like that seat. I'm happy," said Ogmich.

"Yes yes. They called it the new office model. This thing feels just right. It's comfortable but damn the price was certainly high. Thank you, son,"

The man gave a hearty laugh and the one in glasses knew it was time to speak.

"School is about to resume and…" Ogmich began.

Eibe waved his head to signal him to stop. "Yea yea, I know. We have to be prepared for those newly admitted and besides, isn't this he's last year in this school?"

Ogmich hummed and leaned on his seat. "That is indeed true. Victor's future will be decided from how he finishes this term. But, I'm here for a different reason."

"Another?" Eibe's attention drew nearer as he heard 'another'. "I don't like that another. It reeks of trouble."

"Indeed it is," Ogmich reached for his pocket and brought out an envelope. "It bears an Adna's crest."

"An Adna's Crest!" screamed Eibe. Immediately, he grabbed it from Ogmich's hand and opened it.

"Truly it is from an Adna…so she's giving birth now…Moonlight, is it?"

The man remarked, he nodded slowly while his eyes ran through the lines. He turned to the page back and saw something was written on it. A strange sigh filled with relief let out from his mouth. "…I see."

"Father?"

"Just one…"

"Father?!"

"What?"

"Why are you crying?"

Eibe paused and realized stream of tears poured from his eyes without his knowledge. "Oh, I am." He said, wiping off his tears off his own face. "It's just that this letter work reminds me of past memories."

Ogmich bent and handed him a handkerchief.

"Oh thank you."

Eibe completely cleaned his entire face and rose up from his seat slowly. He turned his back to his son and focused his eyes outside. He took a deep breath and let the room grow into silence.

The sounds of the clock tickling could now be heard, the cloud moved through the endless sea of blue, changing into various shape and size depending on imagination. Eibe's eyes slightly closed and his mouth slightly opened.

In a small yet broad tone, he prepared to speak;

"It all began eleven to thirteen years ago, around the time when two Adna's decided to visit the school's compound. They were twins, a rarity even among humans. Since they were Adna's you could say 'a rarity in rarity.' Haha," laughed Eibe.

"Please continue." Ogmich added.

Eibe sighed and took his seat. He met eyes with his son, Ogmich. He then joked, "You sure are interested."

Ogmich shut him off, "Please continue."

"-children…It was my 17th year of working so having two Adna's was a blessing. Though, they finished in two years."

"Huh? Two years?" asked Ogmich.

Eibe leaned on his chair, joined his hands together and chuckled once more. He placed his hand on his chin and said, "What you should be asking is what happened in those two years, not the obvious."

He then paused.

"I won't tell you what happened but all I can say is they were a threat that shouldn't be reckoned with. In fact, the real problem was the older one. The younger was my savior. If not for her, I would've left the school or in a worst case scenario, run mad."

"Heh, I don't understand?!" Ogmich asked as he got off his seat.

"And you never will…" Eibe replied.

"Huh!"

Ogmich hit the table, blowing the files away through a long road. "Tell me Father. Tell me!"

Eibe put on a poker face and just stared at him. His voice slowly showed traces of laughter beneath but still he kept it down so as not to anger Ogmich any longer.

'Sorry my son, I just can't tell you. My pride depends on it.' Eibe thought while shaking his head.

The office room immediately filled with screams of question.

"What happened?"

"Tell me father!"

"Don't leave me hanging!"

"Alright, at least give me a hint of what happened. If I recall, the younger was Phoenix Adna while the younger was—

"Shshsh," Eibe immediately silenced him. "We don't speak of her name. The ears have walls."

"Huh?"

Eibe stood up once more, finding his way to the door. He left Ogmich in thought with one sentence.

"If you can think of anything that could make me mad, that's the closest you will get to the truth."
