Lucian's Main Estate was a fortress, literally.
Adrian stepped into the foyer and felt the air change. It was colder here, but it carried a familiar weight that the penthouse lacked. The walls were thick enough to stop the sound from the city, leaving only the low, rhythmic hum of the building's internal power grid.
Lucian moved with ease. He peeled off his heavy overcoat and handed it to a waiting staff member without turning his head. It was a practiced, dismissive gesture.
The staff member, an older man in a grey black suit, turned toward Adrian and bowed his head.
"Good evening, sir," the man said. "Your luggage has been placed in your room."
Adrian paused. He wasn't used to being addressed with that kind of weight. He looked at Lucian, who was already walking toward the grand staircase.
'Sir.' Adrian repeated quietly in his mind.
"In this house, there is hierarchy," Lucian said, as if hearing Adrian's thoughts. "The staff understands where you sit on it."
