Chapter 37 - Under White Lights

The Council Tower was designed to make anyone who entered feel small. It was tall and entirely made of white marble.

Adrian and Lucian stepped into the Hall with Adrian walking directly beside Lucian and the air immediately changed. The floor was a vast expanse of polished stone that reflected the tiered seating where representatives from the Lesser Houses sat.

Lucian and Adrian moved in sync, both clothed in dark expensive tailoring that contrasted against the white of the hall.

Murmurs rippled across the chamber as they approached the center.

They weren't whispering about treason anymore. They were whispering about how calm Adrian looked.

Lucian kept his gaze fixed on the Council Speaker's podium, completely ignoring the people around the room, his expression a mask of bored authority.

The Council Speaker, a man whose skin looked withered began to speak. His voice was smooth, practiced in the art of political assassination.
