The sky above Neo-Grid City was no longer stable.
Cracks—thin, glowing fractures—spread across the clouds like shattered glass, pulsing with an eerie violet light. The air hummed, not with wind, but with something deeper… something synchronized.
Or rather—desynchronized.
Ben stood at the rooftop edge, coat fluttering, eyes locked onto the largest rift forming above the city's core tower. Beside him, Charizard let out a low, rumbling growl, flames at its tail flickering erratically.
"It's happening faster than expected…" Ben muttered.
Sarah adjusted the scanner on her wrist. The device sparked, numbers glitching wildly.
"Not just faster," she said sharply. "The entire Parallel Sync system is destabilizing. The frequencies are overlapping—multiple realms are trying to merge at once."
A sudden pulse rippled through the sky.
BOOM.
A distortion wave slammed into the city, bending light and space for a split second. Buildings shimmered. Roads twisted.
And then—
A massive silhouette emerged inside the crack.
Not one.
Not two.
Dozens.
Pokémon… but not from their world alone.
Ben clenched his fist. "So it begins."
System Alert
[WARNING: PARALLEL SYNC FAILURE DETECTED][REALM OVERLAP: 37% → 52% → 68%][EMERGENCY PROTOCOL: SEEK ANCHOR POINT]
"Anchor Point?" Sarah frowned. "What does that even—"
Her words cut off as the orb in Ben's pocket began to glow violently.
The same orb.
The one that started everything.
Ben slowly took it out. The iridescent surface now cracked with lines of light, mirroring the sky.
Charizard roared suddenly, spreading its wings.
From the east, a shockwave erupted as a colossal Gyarados burst from a mid-air rift, roaring as if summoned by chaos itself. On another rooftop, a Lucario stood still—eyes glowing blue, sensing the imbalance.
"Pokémon are reacting…" Sarah whispered. "They feel it too."
Ben nodded. "They're not just reacting."
He looked up.
"They're being pulled."
Battle Erupts
Without warning, a warped Hydreigon tore through a nearby rift—its body flickering like a broken signal.
"Distorted form…" Ben's eyes narrowed.
Charizard didn't wait.
"Go!"
With a thunderous flap, Charizard launched forward, flames igniting its entire body.
Flamethrower!
A blazing stream shot across the sky, clashing against Hydreigon's dark pulse. The collision exploded mid-air, scattering energy shards that rained down like meteor fragments.
Sarah released her own Pokémon.
"Gardevoir—stabilize the field!"
A soft glow expanded outward as Gardevoir raised its arms. Psychic energy spread like a dome, reducing the distortion effects nearby.
But it wasn't enough.
The sky cracked again.
This time—something far worse stepped through.
The First Anchor Guardian
It didn't look like a normal Pokémon.
Its body was composed of shifting geometry—triangles, cubes, spirals—constantly rearranging. Its eyes were infinite loops of light.
Ben froze.
"…That's not from any Pokédex."
The system flickered again.
[ENTITY IDENTIFIED: ANCHOR GUARDIAN - TYPE UNKNOWN][ROLE: REALITY STABILIZER / DESTROYER][THREAT LEVEL: EXTREME]
The creature hovered silently.
Then—
Everything stopped.
Sound vanished.
Movement froze.
Even Charizard, mid-flight, hung motionless.
Only Ben could move.
His eyes widened.
"…Why am I—?"
The orb in his hand burned.
And a voice echoed—not in the air, but inside his mind.
"SYNC HOLDER… CHOOSE."
Images flashed—
Worlds collapsing.
Pokémon fading.
Sarah disappearing.
Charizard turning into particles of light.
Ben staggered. "No…!"
"ANCHOR OR CHAOS."
"I don't even know what that means!"
The entity shifted, its form expanding.
"YOU ARE THE VARIABLE."
Time Resumes
Everything snapped back.
Charizard roared as if nothing happened—but Ben's breathing was heavy.
"Ben! What just happened?" Sarah shouted.
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he pointed upward.
"That thing… we have to stop it. Or everything ends."
The Anchor Guardian raised a limb.
Reality itself bent.
Buildings warped.
Gravity flipped for a moment—cars lifted, debris floated—
Then crashed back down violently.
"Charizard—full power!"
With a deafening roar, Charizard mega-evolved mid-air, flames turning blue-white.
The temperature spiked instantly.
"Blast Burn!"
A massive explosion of fire surged upward, engulfing the Anchor Guardian.
For a moment—
Hope.
Then—
The flames split.
Not dispersed.
Split.
The entity simply restructured itself, unharmed.
Sarah's eyes widened. "It's not physical… it's—"
"Conceptual," Ben finished.
"Then how do we fight that?!"
Ben looked at the orb again.
Still glowing.
Still resonating.
"…We don't fight it."
He stepped forward.
"We sync with it."
The Risk
Sarah grabbed his arm. "Are you insane?! You don't even know what that'll do!"
Ben met her gaze.
"I do know what happens if I don't."
The city trembled again.
More rifts opened.
More Pokémon fell through.
The world was breaking.
And he was the center.
"…Trust me," he said quietly.
For a moment, Sarah hesitated.
Then—
She let go.
"…You better not disappear again."
A faint smile.
"No promises."
Synchronization Attempt
Ben raised the orb.
It floated out of his hand.
Light exploded outward.
The Anchor Guardian stopped.
Its infinite eyes focused on him.
"SYNC ACCEPTED?"
Ben took a breath.
"…Accepted."
The world dissolved.
Inside the Sync Space
Endless white.
No sky. No ground.
Just fragments of reality floating like broken glass.
Ben stood alone.
Then—
Charizard appeared beside him.
Not summoned.
Not released.
Connected.
"…So this is the true sync," Ben whispered.
A presence formed ahead.
The Anchor Guardian—but now stable, defined.
"PROVE STABILITY."
Ben frowned. "How?"
The answer came instantly.
Fragments surged toward him—
Memories.
Battles.
Failures.
Every moment with his Pokémon.
Every bond.
Every choice.
The pressure was unbearable.
His mind screamed.
His body trembled.
But Charizard stepped forward.
Placed a claw on his shoulder.
Grounded him.
Ben clenched his fists.
"I won't break."
The fragments slowed.
Aligned.
Stabilized.
The white space shifted into color.
The Guardian paused.
Then—
"VARIABLE CONFIRMED."
Return
The real world snapped back.
Ben hovered mid-air, surrounded by glowing energy.
The Anchor Guardian—shrinking.
Stabilizing.
The sky cracks… slowing.
Sarah looked up in shock. "He… did it?"
Charizard roared triumphantly.
The system flashed again.
[ANCHOR POINT ESTABLISHED][SYNC LEVEL: 71% → 89%][REALITY STABILIZING…]
But then—
A final warning.
[NEW ALERT: MULTIPLE ANCHORS DETECTED]
Ben's eyes widened.
"…Wait."
In the distance—
Across the horizon—
More entities like the Guardian began to emerge.
Not one.
Not two.
Hundreds.
Sarah whispered:
"…This was just the beginning… wasn't it?"
Ben slowly lowered to the rooftop.
His expression hardened.
"Yeah."
He looked at the fractured sky.
Then at his team.
Then forward.
"…Now the real war starts."
