Chapter 21 Pikachu
"Brock, if you want to pursue your dream, then go for it! Your father has decided not to run away anymore."
After Ash and the others left, Flint emerged from the shadows.
His gaze towards Brock was filled with guilt. He was a failure, and even more so, a failed father. He had created this mess himself, lacked the courage to bear it, and chose to escape, placing all the pressure on his eldest son's shoulders.
"Is it really okay?" Brock looked hopefully at Flint.
"Brock, everyone has the right to pursue their dreams, and you are no exception. These years, because of me, you've wasted your youth. Your old man is sorry for you. Now I'm old, and it's time for me to return to the family. Go realize your dream. That young man just now was right, you shouldn't be confined to this small Pewter City."
"I understand, Father. However, before I leave, there's something I want to tell you." Brock said with a serious expression.
"Say it, child. Even if you hit me or scold me, I won't have any complaints."
"No, Father, you're overthinking it. What I need to say are all crucial details." Brock pulled out a travel backpack from somewhere and quietly slung it on his back, then took out a roll of needle and thread from his pocket, and began to tell Flint about each of his younger siblings' preferences: "Father, James has a special fondness for red miso soup…"
After a good half hour of chatter, Brock finally finished explaining everything he needed to.
Flint already regretted his decision to return to the family. This bombardment of large and complex information had given him psychological trauma. He clutched his head in pain and said, "Brock, how about you depart tomorrow? It's already dark outside, and night travel is difficult. Plus, what you just said, I'm 'a little bit' unclear about. Why don't you write all those matters down in a notebook…"
"Uh, alright then. But Father, you won't leave without a word this time, right?" Brock looked suspiciously at Flint.
"No, a man's word is his bond." Flint patted his chest, assuring him.
....
Under the night sky, stars twinkled, and Ash and Misty walked side by side.
"Ash, it's still early, why don't we go shopping?" Misty suggested somewhat shyly.
"Shopping? Maybe next time. The commercial street in Pewter City isn't very prosperous. Let's go shopping when we reach a more prosperous City." Ash politely declined.
What he was thinking about now were not trivial matters of romance. After the battle just now, Pikachu had already touched the threshold of an Elite. He was thinking about how to help Pikachu cross that threshold.
Soon, a waterwheel gave him a hint.
Ash recalled that in the original story, after idiot's first Gym challenge failed, Flint took him and Pikachu to use a waterwheel to generate electricity to Charge Pikachu, using external voltage input to increase Pikachu's own voltage intensity, finally achieving a qualitative change through quantitative accumulation, raising Pikachu's strength to a new level.
If he followed this method, perhaps Pikachu could break through that final barrier.
Thinking of this, Ash immediately had an idea. He reached out and stroked Pikachu's head, "Pikachu, I've thought of a method that might help you break through! Do you want to try it?"
"Pika?" (Really?)
Pikachu looked at Ash in surprise.
"That's right, the method is like this…"
Ash briefly described the idea of Charging Pikachu.
"Pikachu, are you willing to try?"
"Pika~ Pika!" Pikachu nodded, indicating its willingness to try.
"Alright then, let's go to the power company in Pewter City right now."
With Pikachu's current strength, Ash didn't believe that human-powered electricity from a small waterwheel could provide much electricity to Pikachu.
So he set his sights on Pewter City's power system. With his identity as a Pokémon Doctor, getting a small City's power supply department to Assist with an experiment would be incredibly simple.
"Wait a moment, Ash, are you sure you can do this? Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokémon, but if the electricity exceeds its tolerance, it's very easy for something to go wrong…"
This was Misty's first time hearing such a crazy idea. She had only heard of Electric Pokémon helping to generate electricity before, never of Charging an Electric-type Pokémon.
"Misty, don't worry. Pikachu is my family, I know what I'm doing."
Soon, Ash and the others arrived at Pewter City's power company.
After some friendly (power-abusing) negotiation, Ash successfully arranged a set of facilities with the head of the power department.
Before putting Pikachu into the facility, Ash spent ten thousand points in the system's mall to purchase a Focus Sash and equipped it to Pikachu.
This item was his true reliance for daring to let Pikachu take risks. The items produced by the system were much stronger than the same-named items Ash had seen in games in his previous life. This item could grant immunity to death once and restore the status to its peak. The only pity was that it could only be used by Pokémon, not by humans.
Having done everything, he came to the instrument control panel, adjusted the voltage output to the lowest, and then said to Pikachu inside the instrument, "Pikachu, I'm going to start!"
Pikachu nodded, indicating it understood.
As the machine started, current continuously flowed into Pikachu, and the two electric sacs on Pikachu's cheeks unconsciously began to Discharge.
The voltage slowly rose, and the current gradually enveloped Pikachu, finally forming an Electric Terrain. Bright yellow electricity danced on Pikachu's body, and its agile little eyes became even more spirited.
In less than three minutes, the voltage exceeded Thunderbolt, and Pikachu's body began to tremble slightly.
"Pikachu, hold on, this hasn't reached your limit yet." Ash encouraged.
Pikachu's strength now was far beyond what it was at the same period in the original story. Thunderbolt was simply a piece of cake.
"Pika!"
Pikachu responded with a firm cry.
Ash continued to increase the voltage, and the intensity of the current steadily rose. The bright yellow current surrounding Pikachu gradually transformed, from deepening in color to its contained energy becoming more internalized and aggregated. The power within Pikachu's body gradually awakened.
Unbeknownst to them, the long-standing Elite barrier disappeared. Pikachu had already become an Elite-level Pokémon.
Pokémon: Pikachu
Gender: Male
Level: 44
Ability: Lightning Rod, Actor (Acting MAX), Fifty-Fifty (Stronger when facing stronger opponents, weaker when facing weaker opponents)
Aptitude:???
Skills: Iron Tail, Surf, Rain Dance, Thunder, Double Team, Agility, Electric Terrain, Thunder Wave, Wild Charge, Thunderbolt.....
Perhaps it absorbed too much electricity, Pikachu's level instantly reached 44, already in the mid-Elite stage.
"Ash, Pikachu has already broken through, it's time to stop." Misty quickly called out to Ash.
"Okay."
After seeing Pikachu break through, Ash also didn't plan to continue and simply stopped the machine.
Seeing Ash about to open the device containing Pikachu, Misty couldn't help but remind him: "Ash, the electricity on Pikachu is too strong, you need to be careful later."
"I know."
Ash responded indifferently.
Are you kidding? He was someone who had mastered three types of Psychic abilities. How could Pikachu's electricity possibly shock him?
However, if nothing unexpected happened, something unexpected was about to happen.
As soon as Ash opened the instrument, when Pikachu was about to jump onto his shoulder as usual, a golden-yellow current shot out from Pikachu's two cheek pouches, instantly stunning Ash and Kirlia.
"So numb!"
"Qilu…."
"Pika Pi?" (Ash, Kirlia, are you two okay?)
This sudden turn of events left Pikachu at a loss.
"Sigh!"
Life is not easy, Misty sighed.
She was truly helpless. She had already reminded him, but this still happened.
She could only instruct Pikachu: "Pikachu, before you completely stabilize the current in your body, it's best not to get close to Ash and Kirlia."
"Pika…"
Pikachu nodded dejectedly.
Finally, Misty could only ask the power company staff to help send Ash and Kirlia to the Pokémon Center in Pewter City.
