Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 Cerulean City

Chapter 26 Cerulean City

Brock glanced at the map in his hand, then at the landmark at the intersection, and said confidently, "Following this road, we'll soon see Cerulean City."

"Ash, do you really have to challenge the Cerulean Gym?" Misty asked with some difficulty.

In the Kanto region, there are not just eight Gyms that meet Indigo League standards; a total of twenty-four Gyms' gym badges are recognized by the Alliance.

Misty knew better than anyone the situation of her own Gym; gym badges were given out indiscriminately, even if you just helped sweep the floor, you could get a gym badge.

Most importantly, like the Pewter Gym, the Cerulean Gym did not have Pokemon stationed there by the Alliance. With the current ornamental performance Pokemon at the Cerulean Gym, Ash would just slaughter them if he went. If the Alliance found out about the brutal process, the Gym might even lose its qualification.

"It's not necessarily a challenge; it's just that Cerulean City is closer, and I want to get all the gym badges early to qualify for the Indigo League tournament."

Ash also knew what Misty was worried about. For the challenge, he had already decided which Pokemon to use, and he wouldn't let the Cerulean Gym lose too badly.

"Is that so?"

Misty looked even more troubled.

"Misty, are you hiding something from us?" Ash asked with a grin.

"No, not at all!" Misty waved her hands repeatedly.

"Ash, the Cerulean Gym has beautiful synchronized swimming. I heard it's performed by the Gym Leader's four water sisters, and it's very famous in the Kanto region, definitely worth seeing!" Brock's heart stirred when he heard about the Cerulean Gym, and his voice was full of anticipation.

Ash gave Misty a meaningful glance, then pretended to say casually, "Synchronized swimming is indeed very interesting, but Brock, you might be disappointed. It seems one of the four Cerulean sisters has run away from home, so if we go, we'll only see three of the four beauties, and the performance probably won't be complete."

"That's truly a pity."

The sensitive phrase 'four Cerulean sisters' successfully touched Misty. A hint of pride flashed in her eyes. "What you heard about should be the four Cerulean sisters, known as 'Water Pokémon,' renowned for their beauty and wisdom, not some three beauties and an ugly duckling, right?"

Misty's tone carried a hint of doubt.

"Is there such a saying? Beauties and an ugly duckling? That's even more worth seeing, Ash."

As the saying goes, there's no gap without comparison. Brock also wanted to see how big the difference was between the three sisters and the ugly duckling that Misty mentioned.

"Uh..."

Ash scratched his head. It was better not to respond to such words.

Misty's expression subtly changed. If she weren't afraid of being seen through, she really wanted to teach Brock a lesson.

Ash knew that Misty was like this because she had lived for many years in the shadow of her three beautiful sisters. She became less confident when facing her own sisters. For example, Misty was socially outgoing outside, but a recluse at home.

For the rest of the journey, Misty became quiet.

The streets of Cerulean City were the cleanest Ash had ever seen, as spotless as a painting, without a speck of dust. Green trees lined both sides, and the air was filled with the scent of flowers, giving a refreshing and pleasant feeling.

"Misty, your home seems to be in Cerulean City, right? Aren't you going back to see it?" Brock asked.

"Uh..." Misty suddenly pointed to the crowd gathered ahead, changing the subject. "Look, something seems to have happened up front."

Facts proved that watching drama was not limited by age or gender, and Ash and his friends were no exception.

Especially Ash, he knew that the theft incident described in the original story was carried out by the Team Rocket Trio, but he had just turned Team Rockets over to the police not long ago, so there was no reason for them to escape so quickly.

As soon as the three approached, they were spotted by Jenny, who was maintaining order.

"Are you from out of town?"

"We just arrived in Cerulean City. Jenny, may I ask what happened here?"

To avoid being suspected by Jenny as in the original story, Ash directly showed his Pokedex while speaking.

Jenny's guard instantly dropped, and she said enthusiastically, "Oh, so you're the strongest Trainer from Pallet Town! My sister asked me to thank you. You helped her catch a long-wanted criminal, but unfortunately, those three guys escaped later."

"Beautiful Jenny..."

Just as Ash wanted to learn more about the situation, Brock had an episode. He knelt on one knee before Jenny, holding a bouquet of flowers he had gotten from who knows where.

This infatuated look made Ash sweat.

Just as he thought Misty would step in and pull him away, he found that Misty had quietly left the group at some point.

Finally, Ash could only have Kirlia pull Brock away to gather information. It turned out that the pumping facilities, equipment, and plastic hoses stored in this warehouse had all been stolen overnight.

"Brock, let's go. The Cerulean Gym's synchronized swimming is about to start. If we don't go now, it'll be too late." Ash said to Brock, who was still lost in fantasy.

Even after being pulled away, this guy's infatuation hadn't improved at all; he was still fantasizing about Jenny, who was busy investigating the theft.

Hearing this, Brock's expression instantly became serious.

"Huh?! Ash, have you noticed something seems to be missing?"

After walking a couple of steps, Brock stopped, scratching his head in confusion.

"Brock, are you just noticing now?" Ash was helpless; this guy's reaction time was ridiculously slow.

"Pika?"

Pikachu also tilted its head, glanced at Brock, then pointed to its own head, indicating to Kirlia that something was wrong with this person's brain.

"Kirlia."

Kirlia nodded in agreement.
