Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Ash vs. Misty

Chapter 28: Ash vs. Misty

"Ash, I didn't expect you to have other Milotic!"

Brock had heard every word of Ash and Professor Oak's conversation.

"The ones the League sent to assist with research aren't ones I caught, but officially, the League has put them under my name.

I plan to use one of them to challenge the Gym with Pidgeotto, and the other to teach Feebas."

Ash didn't intend for the Feebas he caught to evolve using a Prism Scale; Milotic was what he used to motivate and teach Feebas.

These two Milotic were not of the same level; one was a mid-Elite-level, while the other was only Excellent Level 30, not yet breaking through to Gym-level, but it would have no problem dealing with average Gyms.

Soon, Ash found the Cerulean Gym Sisters after their performance ended.

Daisy, the eldest of the Cerulean Gym Sisters, looked at Ash, whose skin was fair and delicate, full of healthy glow, exuding the charm of a handsome man, and only half as handsome as the reader, exclaiming, "Wow, what a handsome little brother! Are you here for an autograph?"

Uh... Brock, who was with him, was completely ignored.

My heart ached for him for a second; the rest of it went to envy Ash.

"Three beautiful sisters, I am Ash from Pallet Town, and I'm here to challenge the Gym!" Ash replied politely.

"Oh, so you're Ash! You certainly look stronger than Gary." Lily, the second sister, spoke, "But, unfortunately, little brother Ash, all of our Pokemon have been defeated by Trainers from your Pallet Town."

"That's right, they were defeated miserably, miserably, and are still recovering at Nurse Joy's place," Violet, the third sister, interjected.

"Ah?! How could such a thing happen?"

Ash feigned disappointment.

Daisy thought for a moment, then took a teardrop-shaped gym badge from Seel's mouth, saying, "Hmm... considering that you, little brother Ash, are highly praised by those three challengers from Pallet Town, how about this, we'll just give you the gym badge directly."

The Cerulean Gym Sisters had no intention of running a Gym; since they were going to lose anyway, they might as well just give it away for free, which would also allow their Pokemon more time to perform on stage.

"Wait a minute, the gym badge can't just be handed over like that!"

"Huh?"

Everyone looked in the direction of the voice, only to see Misty standing in the audience.

The next moment, Misty, in front of everyone, leaped down from above, landing steadily in front of them.

Ash couldn't help but praise her movements, thinking, 'As expected of a Super Cerulean person, even stronger than a Super True Newbie; her jumping power is maxed out, and her physical quality is also maxed out; she jumps down from several meters high without even bending her legs.'

"Misty?"

Everyone except Ash looked shocked.

"Sister Daisy, I will represent the Cerulean Gym in this Gym Challenge," Misty said to the Cerulean Gym Sisters.

"Eh? So Misty, you're... the one of the four Cerulean Gym Sisters who ran away from home?" Brock asked incredulously.

Ash was speechless, not expecting Brock to be so bold.

Hearing this, Misty became furious and immediately retorted, "That's right, I am the youngest sister of the four beautiful Cerulean Gym Sisters, and what do you mean 'ran away from home'? I just went on a journey!"

"No, it should be the three beautiful sisters and the ugly duckling," Violet, the third sister, exposed.

Misty got even angrier.

"That's not important anymore, Misty. Why are you back so soon?" Daisy asked.

"Who was it who boasted that she would never return unless she became a Water-type Pokémon Master?" Lily, the second sister, teased Misty.

"Oh, don't worry about those details! Anyway, I'll fight this battle for you, Ash, do you accept?"

Misty didn't want to get tangled up anymore; if they kept talking and all her embarrassing past was dug up, she wouldn't have the face to travel with Ash anymore.

Ash nodded in response, "Okay, I accept, but Misty, don't go easy on me just because we're friends!"

"I'll give it my all, Ash, you shouldn't go easy either, I'm very strong."

With that, Misty walked to the Trainer's command area on the battleground.

"Ash, the battle rules are two-on-two. Brock, please act as the referee."

"No problem."

Brock gave an OK gesture and then walked to the center of the field.

"Now, Ash from Pallet Town is challenging Gym Leader Misty of the Cerulean Gym. The Pokemon used in this battle are limited to two... I now declare the battle begins!"

"Pidgeotto, I choose you!"

Ash was the first to throw out his Pokeball.

"In that case, go, Butterfree!"

Misty didn't throw out Staryu as she did in the original story. Caterpie was already close to evolving when Misty caught it. After being caught and fed energy cubes twice by Ash, it evolved into Metapod. After a few days of settling, it completed its evolution on the way to Mt. Moon.

[Pokemon: Butterfree]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: 25]

[Ability: Compound Eyes]

[Potential: Elite]

[Skills: Gust, Telekinesis, Protect, Poison Powder, Toxic, Double Team, Substitute, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder...]

"Eh, Butterfree?! Isn't she supposed to become a Water-type Pokémon Master? Why did she catch a Bug-type, and isn't she most afraid of bugs?"

Violet looked at the Butterfree in front of Misty in disbelief.

"So cute, but it's a pity it's not Water-type, otherwise it could stay and perform at the Gym!" Daisy's eyes were also fixed on Butterfree.

Anyway, the three sisters' focuses were all different.

"Pidgeotto, Hurricane."

"Butterfree, don't lose to it, Gust, blow it away!"

Misty also refused to be outdone.

Just like that, two strong winds clashed.

"Not bad, Misty, but I have the advantage in type, you know."

As soon as Ash finished speaking, the strong wind stirred up by Misty's Butterfree was blown away by Pidgeotto's, and Butterfree was almost blown into the water.

"Butterfree, pull yourself together, use Double Team to get close to Pidgeotto, then use Poison Powder."

"Oh, so you're planning to use the tactics I taught you to defeat me? I won't let you succeed easily."

Ash had taught Misty many tactics, and the Substitute-Protect-Toxic strategy was one of them.

Clearly, Ash wouldn't let Misty easily implement the tactic.

"Pidgeotto, get close to the water and use Twister!"

"Pidgeot!"

Pidgeotto suddenly flapped its wings, and a water tornado instantly surrounded Butterfree.

"Can Misty really win this battle?"

Even Daisy, who wasn't skilled in battling, could see that Misty was at a disadvantage.

"Very good, Pidgeotto, final Brave Bird!"

Ash said he wouldn't go easy, and he absolutely wouldn't.

"Butterfree, dodge quickly!"

Misty's reaction was also very fast.

But with its wings wet, Butterfree's agility was greatly reduced, and its speed was still a bit slow. It was hit dead center by Pidgeotto's Brave Bird, its eyes turned into swirling circles, and it lost its ability to battle.

"Come back, Butterfree, the rest is up to you!"

After recalling Butterfree, Misty immediately threw out another Pokeball.

A flash of white light, and on the mat floating on the water, appeared a Pokemon resembling a sea snake.

Its body was cream-colored, with red eyes, a small protrusion at the end of its head, and long red eyebrows extending beyond its fur above its eyes. Additionally, it had red, hair-like fins covering both sides of its head. Its tail was covered in blue and pink scales with black stripes. There were red dots in the center of the four large blue scales overlapping at the end of its tail.

This Pokemon simply coiled there, yet it was as captivating as the embodiment of beauty itself.

[Pokemon: Milotic]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: 36]

[Ability: Marvel Scale]

[Potential: Quasi-Champion]

[Skills: Tackle, Water Gun, Splash, Water Pulse, Dragon Breath (hereditary), Disarming Voice, Aqua Ring, Dragon Tail, Safeguard...]

"In that case, Pidgeotto, come back. Milotic, the rest of the battle is up to you!"

Ash first recalled Pidgeotto, then threw out the Milotic he had just traded for, which was, of course, the Level 30 one.

Ash had long anticipated that Misty would choose to evolve Feebas. The reason he chose this Level 30 Milotic was because this Level 30 Milotic had the ability — Attract, and its gender was naturally female.

"Milotic! It's really beautiful! If we could use it for performances, our fame would definitely spread to other regions! (✪▽✪)"

The Cerulean Gym Sisters' eyes were wide with amazement at this moment. They hadn't expected Misty, who had only been away from home for a short while, to bring them such a big surprise.

They were all secretly planning how to persuade Misty to leave Milotic at the Gym, but unfortunately, their efforts were destined to be in vain.

"Ash, this isn't that Feebas of yours that evolved, is it?" Misty asked curiously.

She remembered Ash's Feebas hadn't evolved yet.

"This one was just transferred by Professor Oak. Misty, you have to be careful, it's been over a year, almost two years, since it evolved into Milotic. Although its level isn't as high as yours, its combat power might not be."

Ash reminded her.

This Milotic evolved from a Level 5 Feebas, and its potential was limited to Gym-level. However, it had spent so much time with the quasi-Elite-level Milotic that it naturally couldn't be compared to ordinary Pokemon.

"Milotic, the opponent is very strong, don't let your guard down, use Water Pulse!"
