Chapter 264: Tyranitar
The trio turned their heads to look and saw a Meganium emerging from the bushes, and on its back was an acquaintance of Ash and his group—Casey.
Seeing familiar faces, Casey said in surprise, "Eh, it's Ash, Misty, and Brock?"
"Long time no see, Casey. Is this Meganium evolved from your Chikorita?" Misty asked curiously.
"Yeah! She is the proudest third batter on our team!" Casey said proudly.
However, upon seeing the Poké Ball on the ground indicating a successful capture, Casey's little face immediately fell.
She had spotted this Elekid after entering the forest, but after chasing it for ages, she just couldn't catch it.
Ash said awkwardly, "Uh... Casey, don't tell me that Elekid was your target."
Casey looked regretful, "Forget it, since you've already captured it, Ash."
"By the way, Ash, I remember you also have a Chikorita. Has it evolved into a Meganium?"
Facing Casey's question, Ash was also a bit unsure, saying, "It should have evolved, right?"
Ever since he sent Chikorita back to grind the Viridian Forest instance, he hadn't paid much attention to it. After all, the difficulty of the Viridian Forest instance had increased significantly after being ravaged by Charizard, Lucario, and other Pokémon. With Chikorita at the quasi-Elite level, it would probably take some time to clear it.
However, Totodile had completed its final evolution; Tracy had sent him the news about that.
"Should?"
Casey found it hard to believe Ash's words.
In her view, Ash was a very powerful Trainer. Even she, a rookie Trainer, had raised her Chikorita to its final stage, so Ash's couldn't possibly be worse, right?
"Let's not talk about that. Casey, how is your badge collection coming along?" Ash asked, changing the subject.
"I've already collected 4. There are two months left until the Silver Conference. I want to clear the 4 Gyms near Mt. Silver, and then I'll be able to qualify for the tournament!"
Casey showed Ash and the others the badges she had collected.
Because she was a rookie Trainer who had just started, the Gyms Casey chose were on the weaker side, so none of her badges matched Ash's.
Brock encouraged her, "Then you'll have to work hard, Casey! Ash has already collected all his badges and qualified for the tournament."
Hearing that Ash had already qualified, Casey also felt a sense of urgency, "Yeah, I'll do my best! See you at the Silver Conference, Ash!"
After saying that, she rode her Meganium and hurried toward the town. If she didn't hurry, she was afraid she would miss the upcoming Silver Conference.
After saying goodbye to Casey, Ash and his group continued toward Larvitar's home. With the addition of the social butterfly Electabuzz, Larvitar's closed-off heart had improved a lot under Electabuzz's influence.
Staying overnight at the Pokémon Center at the foot of Mt. Silver, Ash contacted Professor Elm again to report their progress. Professor Elm then asked Ash and his group to head to the reserve to find a man named Mr. Muto.
After walking for about two days, Ash and his group arrived at the suspension bridge opposite the reserve.
The journey had been relatively calm. Ever since the Team Rocket Trio was blasted away by Entei, they had completely quieted down. However, Ash knew that those three guys were still following them, just that they were working part-time jobs while trailing them because they lacked funds.
Of course, on their first day entering Mt. Silver, they did encounter some Unown that descended from the sky. With the help of the Unown, Larvitar's emotional knot was completely untied.
"Ms. Muto's Pokémon reserve center should be around here." Brock said, comparing it with his travel guide.
Suddenly, Larvitar seemed to sense something, and ignoring the calls of Ash and the others, it ran straight toward the forest on the other side of the suspension bridge.
After arriving at the forest on the other side, Larvitar's mood became extremely cheerful.
"This little guy, Larvitar, is so happy!" Brock exclaimed.
Misty speculated, "It must know it has returned to its hometown."
Ash nodded, "Yeah, even when Pokémon are still in an unhatched state, they can actually sense the outside world."
Just as the group was following Larvitar deep into the forest, a strange vehicle not far away was watching Ash and the others.
Given the distance they were at, Ash had actually discovered them long ago, but now was not the time to deal with these poachers, so he had held back and not taken action.
Inside the vehicle sat three men. The leader was a guy wearing a black hat. The remaining two were one fat and one thin. The fat one had a clown nose and was named Pabo; the thin one had a sharp, monkey-like face, looking exactly like a rat demon, and his name was Chiko.
Chiko reported, "Boss Gool, Larvitar has been spotted!"
"Pikachu and Eevee are with it, let's catch them too!" Pabo suggested.
"Being too hasty will ruin things. Haste makes waste. I have my own plan." Gool's calm voice sounded.
Ash and his group, who had gone deep into the forest, suddenly heard a roar full of anger.
Misty said nervously, "What sound is that? It sounds so scary!"
"Why do I have such a familiar feeling?"
Brock always had the feeling he had heard it somewhere before.
"This is the sound of a Tyranitar. Larvitar, your mother is here." Ash said, looking down at Larvitar.
"Thud!"
Accompanied by a heavy thudding of footsteps, a Tyranitar with a hideous scar on its right abdomen appeared before Ash and the others.
This Tyranitar's Growl was low, and its eyes were filled with ferocity.
[Pokémon: Tyranitar]
[Type: Rock + Dark]
[Gender: Female]
[Level: Elite Intermediate]
[Ability: Unnerve (Makes the opponent nervous, preventing it from eating Berries)]
[Potential: Elite]
[Moves: Tackle, Rock Throw, Dark Pulse, Payback, Rock Slide...]
Larvitar looked up at Tyranitar, and upon seeing Larvitar, the ferocity in Tyranitar's eyes vanished, and its gaze became gentle.
But upon seeing Ash and the others, its gaze changed again, and it suddenly fired a Hyper Beam at Ash and the others.
Pikachu reacted quite quickly; the moment Tyranitar fired the Hyper Beam, it jumped up and used Iron Tail to block it.
"Tyranitar, you've misunderstood. We are not the bad guys who stole Larvitar." Ash said, using Aura to soothe it.
But Tyranitar, having been hurt by humans, clearly did not want to believe Ash's words, and it opened its mouth and fired another Hyper Beam.
After being blocked by Pikachu again, Tyranitar took a step forward and charged toward Ash and the others.
Its aggressive appearance scared Larvitar, who had originally wanted to reunite with Tyranitar, and it started crying and threw itself at Ash.
Seeing its child throwing itself into Ash's arms, Tyranitar only thought that the humans in front of it wanted to take its child away again.
As the saying goes, a mother is strong for her child. Tyranitar continued to charge while firing Hyper Beam.
Ash erected an Aura barrier to block the Hyper Beam and said helplessly, "There's no other way. Pikachu, use Surf to calm it down."
"Pika!"
Pikachu nodded, then used Surf to drench Tyranitar, quickly followed up with Thunder, shocking Tyranitar until it felt numb, and finally, its legs gave out, and it collapsed.
Watching from not far away, Gool said in a deep voice, "This time, our target is that Tyranitar. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; don't miss it. Use the Pokémon capture bag."
"Target locked!" Chiko said.
"Fire!"
As Gool gave the order, Chiko pressed the launch button.
A special large net shot toward Tyranitar.
