Chapter 20 - Journey Beyond the Valley

The storm slowly began to fade.

Dark clouds drifted across the mountains as the last rumble of thunder echoed through the valley. The air was heavy with the scent of burnt earth and rain, and small sparks of lightning still flickered across the cracked ground where the Elemental Titan had fallen. Smoke rose in thin streams from the fissure, curling into the sky like the dying breath of a defeated beast.

Kazan stood silently, his golden eyes fixed on the shattered battlefield.

The storm had calmed, but inside him, the power still burned fiercely. Fire and lightning moved through his veins like living creatures, restless and eager. He could feel the elements reacting to his emotions, pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat.

Riki stepped beside him and stretched his tired arms.

"That fight was insane," Riki said, letting out a long breath. "An Elemental Titan… shadows… lightning storms… and you fighting like a living flame. Honestly, Kazan, sometimes I wonder if you're even human anymore."

Kazan gave a small smile.

"Maybe I'm not," he replied quietly. "But I still fight for the same reason. To protect people. To protect this world."

Zephrael descended from the sky, their wings glowing faintly with electric energy. The wind shifted slightly as they landed on a broken rock nearby, their staff humming softly with power.

"You have taken your first true step, Flameborne," Zephrael said calmly. "The Titan was not just an enemy. It was a test. A warning."

Riki crossed his arms.

"A warning of what?"

Zephrael raised their staff and pointed toward the distant mountains beyond the valley.

"Of what is coming."

The clouds parted slightly, revealing a faraway mountain range hidden behind layers of mist. The peaks were sharp and towering, and faint flashes of lightning could be seen dancing around them even though the storm in the valley had ended.

Kazan narrowed his eyes.

"Those mountains…"

"Yes," Zephrael said. "Beyond them lies the next path. The world of elements is awakening, and the balance is breaking. If you remain here, you will only face endless attacks from shadows and unstable elemental forces."

Riki looked at Kazan.

"So… we leave the valley?"

Zephrael nodded.

"You must travel beyond it. Your journey cannot stop here. The elemental forces will only grow stronger, and if you wish to master them, you must seek knowledge, training, and power from ancient places."

Kazan turned his gaze toward the mountains again. The wind blew across his face, and for a moment, he could feel something calling him from beyond the valley.

A distant energy.

A powerful presence.

It was faint, but undeniable.

"What is beyond those mountains?" Kazan asked.

Zephrael's expression became serious.

"Ancient ruins… forgotten kingdoms… and places where the elements were first born. Among them is a sacred location that may help you understand your power."

Riki raised an eyebrow.

"And what place is that?"

Zephrael answered slowly.

"A floating temple hidden in the skies."

Kazan's eyes widened slightly.

"A floating temple…?"

"Yes," Zephrael continued. "A temple that exists between the storm and the heavens. It is said that those who reach it can learn to control the elements completely. But reaching it is not easy. Many warriors have tried. None have returned."

Riki scratched his head nervously.

"That doesn't sound very safe."

Kazan stepped forward.

"Safe or not, we have to go."

Both Riki and Zephrael looked at him.

Kazan's voice was calm but firm.

"If the elements are awakening… and if the world is in danger… then we cannot stand still. We move forward. We grow stronger. We become ready for whatever comes next."

The wind blew harder, and sparks of lightning danced around his body.

Riki smiled slightly.

"That's the Kazan I know."

Zephrael nodded.

"Very well. Then the journey begins now."

They began walking through the valley, stepping over broken rocks and scorched ground. The path was rough and dangerous, but the storm had cleared enough for them to see the road ahead.

As they walked, Kazan could feel the elemental energy inside him reacting to the environment.

The wind whispered in his ears.

The ground vibrated beneath his feet.

The sky flickered with distant lightning.

It was as if the world itself was watching him.

After some time, they reached the edge of the valley. From there, the land stretched into a wide open field that led toward the mountains.

The sky was slowly turning orange as the sun began to rise.

Riki stretched his arms again.

"So… new journey, new enemies, and probably more crazy monsters."

Kazan chuckled softly.

"Most likely."

Zephrael looked at the horizon.

"Be careful, both of you. The world beyond this valley is not like what you have seen before. Kingdoms are fighting for power, shadows are spreading, and elemental beasts roam freely."

Riki sighed.

"Sounds like trouble."

Kazan tightened his grip on his sword.

"Then we face it."

Suddenly, the ground trembled slightly again.

All three of them stopped.

Kazan's eyes sharpened.

"Did you feel that?"

Zephrael nodded slowly.

"Yes."

The tremor came again, stronger this time.

From far away, beyond the open field, a massive column of dark smoke rose into the sky.

Riki pointed.

"Look!"

Kazan stared at the smoke.

Something was happening in the distance.

Something dangerous.

Zephrael's voice became serious.

"That direction leads to the nearest kingdom."

Kazan frowned.

"A kingdom?"

Zephrael nodded.

"The Kingdom of Arkanis."

Another explosion echoed faintly through the air.

Riki swallowed.

"I don't think that's a normal day over there."

Kazan's eyes burned with determination.

"Then we go there."

Zephrael looked at him.

"You are sure?"

Kazan nodded.

"If people are in danger, we cannot ignore it. We are not just warriors. We are protectors."

Riki smiled.

"Then what are we waiting for?"

Kazan stepped forward, walking toward the rising smoke.

"The journey beyond the valley begins now."

The wind blew strongly as the three of them moved forward, leaving the destroyed valley behind.

Ahead of them lay kingdoms, war, ancient temples, and secrets of the elements.

And somewhere in the distance, the floating temple waited in silence.

Watching.

Waiting.

For the Flameborne to arrive.
