When Silas and Alice arrived at the usual meet up spot, everyone was already present.
Even Kate was there, they were all waiting for them.
"You're late." Rosalie said, with her arms crossed.
Silas smiled apologetically.
"Sorry, PE took a little longer than it was supposed to."
Everyone nodded and dropped it. They then headed towards the cafeteria.
When they arrived they noticed that the line was longer than usual… it seems that coming late had some consequences.
Silas pursed his lips and walked over to stand in line, Alice didn't seem bothered to stand in line.
Even Kate seemed unbothered.
"Don't you two hate standing in line?" Silas asked, genuinely curious.
Alice, who was looking around, looked at him.
"Not really, it's just kinda boring…"
Kate nodded.
"It's not life ending… just some boredom." She repeated.
Silas was confused, was he just overreacting? Maybe…
Soon it was their turn, Silas bought the usual, and the girls did the same, then they headed to the Cullen table.
After they sat down, Ella asked Kate about why she was gone, a part of last week.
Kate took a sip of her juice and responded.
"I was sick, I had a terrible fever and headache."
The Cullens all nodded along sympathetically.
Silas rolled his lips. What good actors… all these old foxes belong in Hollywood.
The rest of the lunch passed smoothly, and the next class Silas had was art, with Alice.
As they walked down the corridor towards the art classroom Silas started to complain.
"I hope we're not doing abstract art…"
Alice just smiled.
"You need to open up more to nuanced things."
Silas glanced over at her and smiled disdainfully.
"With that grin on your face… you don't even believe that crap yourself."
Alice chuckled.
"True… but it doesn't mean it isn't true."
Silas pulled her hand that was in his.
"For me… it does mean that."
At that response Alice just shook her head.
Just then they arrived at the art classroom.
The teacher was already there, with that high energy. It seems being an art teacher isn't very draining.
Silas thought a little maliciously.
"Ahh~ Silas and Alice, are you excited for today's lesson?" The teacher asked.
Before Silas could respond Alice did.
"Of course… but what will we be doing?"
The art teacher turned to her desk and picked up a paper, on the paper was a painting of a castle.
"We are going to paint architecture."
Silas raised an eyebrow.
"Like Hitler?" He asked.
The teacher went silent for a second, then said.
"Well… no, not exactly like Hitler." She said, uncertain.
Silas just nodded.
Alice, who was dying in the awkward atmosphere, pulled Silas to the back where they usually sit.
When they sat down Alice whispered.
"Why did you ask that… you know how these teachers are."
Silas put on an innocent expression.
"I just wanted to confirm what we were going to do… and Hitler is the only architect I know."
Alice shook her head and sighed.
"But did you have to ask the teacher? Couldn't you have waited a minute and asked me?" She questioned.
Silas shook his shoulder.
"I didn't think she would react like that… it was just a question."
Silas truly didn't anticipate her to act like that, it was an overreaction if you ask him.
Soon the teacher had been around everywhere and handed out a paper.
"Alright, today we are going to paint various buildings and architecture."
"You can choose a building to paint, or make one up, both are allowed."
Hearing that Silas pursed his lips.
In the end he settled on a palace-like structure from his memory.
It was his previous palace.
He picked up a graphite pen and started to sketch, just then the teacher walked up.
"Oh~ Amazing! Really unique." She praised, then moved on.
Silas nodded, just then Alice leaned over to look.
"Wow! That's really cool…" She seemed to genuinely like the idea of the painting.
Silas just smiled.
"Just wait until it's done with color and all."
Alice hummed in agreement.
Then they both went back to painting.
Just before the class ended Silas completed the painting.
Putting color on it took longer than he expected.
The teacher spotted from across the classroom that he had put down the pain brush, then she rushed over.
"Silas. Let me see how it became." She said and stood behind him.
Her eyes drifted over to the canvas and then silence.
A few seconds later she gasped.
"That's… that's really beautiful."
Alice who heard that evaluation also leaned over to look.
An expression just as shocked as the teacher spread on her face.
"Wow… Silas, you really did it this time."
After a few more back and forths of pleasantries and praise, the teacher asked if she could let it hand in the classroom.
Silas nodded.
"I don't mind."
He looked at the beautiful painting in front of him.
It was of a palace on top of a mountain, mist was spreading all around, and the occasional crane flew by.
He had really captured the awe and beauty of the palace and its mountain peak.
Silas and Alice were the last to leave the art classroom.
The teacher also praised Alice's painting, it was of a really beautiful cottage by a lake, surrounded by towering trees.
Beautiful.
Alice stepped forward and gave Silas a kiss.
"See you at the car later."
"Yeah…" Silas responded.
Alice turned with a smile and walked away.
Silas made his way towards his locker to grab the stuff he would need for biology.
When Silas arrived at the biology class Kate was already in the seat, writing in her notebook.
She didn't even notice him.
"What are you writing?" Silas asked as he sat down.
Kate looked up in surprise.
"Ah~ Silas, you startled me." She said with a relieved expression on her face.
Silas apologized.
"So… what are you writing?" Silas asked.
Kate started to write again, and answered at the same time.
"I was sick on the green house visit, so Mr. Banner has given me a little essay to write."
Silas nodded then asked.
"Is it hard? Do you want help?"
Kate shook her head.
"It isn't hard, it's more of a formality than it is about a grade."
Hearing that Silas nodded.
The green house visit was just that… a visit, there were no tests or similar.
So how hard could a complementary essay be?
The class passed smoothly, and somewhere half way through the class Kate completed the essay.
As the final bell of the day rang, Silas did a big stretch and sighed.
"Finally."
