When Silas arrived at the car Alice was already there.
They both spotted each other at the same time and smiled.
He unlocked the car and opened the passenger door for Alice.
"My lady."
Alice smiled and got in.
Just then Kate arrived, slightly out of breath.
"Sorry, Mr. Banner kept me for a second." She said and got in the back.
"No worries." Silas said and closed Alice's door and walked around to his side and got in.
He started the engine and pulled out.
The drive to Kate's house was short. A few minutes of simple conversation, mostly about school.
Kate had been a little distant lately. But Silas couldn't put his finger on why.
When he pulled up in front of her house Kate grabbed her bag.
"See you two tomorrow." She said and got out.
They watched her head inside.
Then Silas pulled out and headed towards the Cullens.
Alice had her elbow resting on the window, watching the trees pass.
"Did you have a good day?" Silas asked.
Alice hummed. "Yeah… the art class was the best part."
Silas nodded in agreement.
He still didn't like art… especially the abstract kind. He could live with architecture and landscape style art, albeit reluctantly.
A few minutes later they turned onto the Cullens road. When he parked and turned the car around Alice made no move to get out.
She looked at him.
"Do you want to come in for a bit?"
Silas was just about to say he'd head home when the front door opened and Carlisle stepped out.
He walked over calmly and Silas rolled down the window.
"Silas… do you have a moment? We'd like to talk." Carlisle said. His tone was pleasant but there was something underneath it.
Silas looked at him for a second.
"Sure." He turned off the engine and got out.
…
They all gathered in the living room.
Carlisle stood at the front, Esme sat to the side. Emmett, Rosalie, Jasper and Ella were on the couch. Edward stood near the window, brooding, like he always does.
We get it bro… you don't like being a vampire. Get over it.
Alice sat beside Silas.
Carlisle folded his hands in front of his chest. Clearly he was preparing to speak.
"There have been some vampires passing through the area recently… three of them. They were spotted near the edge of our territory."
"They have already killed one person that we know of."
Silas sat quietly and listened.
"We don't know their intentions yet… but we want everyone close to us to be aware."Carlisle glanced at Silas when he said that.
Emmett crossed his arms.
"If they come near here we'll deal with it."
Jasper didn't say anything. But his expression was firm..
Carlisle nodded.
"For now we are just monitoring the situation. I don't want anyone alarmed unnecessarily… just be cautious."
A few more words were said. Esme asked if anyone had questions. Nobody did.
And just like that the meeting wrapped up.
Silas stood and stretched slightly.
Alice walked him to the door.
"Are you worried?" She asked quietly.
Silas looked at her.
"No." He said with a slight smile.
She studied him for a second then nodded. She felt a little relieved to hear that.
He gave her a kiss and walked to his car.
…
Driving home Silas had the radio on low volume.
Three vampires near their territory.
James, Laurent and Victoria.
He already knew it was them. He had watched Viktor chase them off with his divine sense just a few nights ago.
The Cullens didn't know that of course… and he wasn't going to tell them.
What was he going to say? Don't worry, my servant already roughed them up and sent them packing?
He smiled slightly at the thought. Clearly he couldn't do that.
Laurent was reasonable. He would want to leave and never come back. Victoria would follow his lead for now.
James was the problem.
He didn't strike Silas as the type who forgot things easily. Getting sent flying through a tree by Viktor… that had to sting. Especially for someone like him.
But more than his pride… he was a tracker or hunter. And someone like him probably won't just walk away.
He would probably find something interesting and then follow it.
Right now the most interesting thing in Forks was Bella Swan… a human with a vampire.
If James discovered that… he wouldn't be able to let it go.
Of course Edward and Bella aren't quite together yet, but it's only a matter of time.
Silas tapped his finger lightly on the steering wheel.
The plot was moving nearly exactly the way he remembered it.
Port Angeles would probably happen soon. Then the baseball game. Then everything after that.
He knew how it ended and wasn't particularly worried.
He pulled into his driveway and turned off the engine.
I want to watch the show from the front row seat, he reminded himself.
Then he got out and headed inside.
When he got inside he heard the TV on, he walked into the living room and saw Viktor sitting on the couch.
Clearly he was invested. He was even leaning forward and everything.
"What are you watching?" Silas asked.
Viktor turned his head fast, and reaching for the controller at the same time.
Whatever it is… it seems kinda shameful.
"Ma… master, you're back already…"
Silas nodded.
"So… what are you watching?" He walked up and stood right behind the sofa.
Victor evaded his eyes and instead glanced at the table.
Silas followed his line of sight and saw a DVD case… the title stunned him.
Desperate Housewives.
Silas felt his lips twitching, in the end he couldn't hold it in.
"Haha. What are you watching? Haha."
Hearing Silas laugh Viktor felt a little ashamed.
"But… master, it's good, I promise… if you want I can lend it to you."
Silas wiped the tears that came out from all the laughing and waved his hand.
"No… no, you can have it all to yourself."
Viktor pouted and turned back to the TV.
Silas saw this and knew he wouldn't be able to get any more reactions out of him.
Boring.
He instead made his way upstairs.
To be honest. He didn't care what Viktor watched, but the absurdity of it all just made it so funny.
