Czar looked like he had just walked out of a war zone.
His coat and suit were damp, clinging slightly to his body. His hair was tousled and his eyes were dark, edged with something cold and heavy like he wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone or anything at the moment.
Roseanne caught it then. A sharp metallic scent. Blood.
She couldn't tell where it was coming from. He was dressed in all black like always. If there were stains, they blended in too well to be seen.
"I just… wanted to see if you were already home," she said, trying to sound casual.
"Save yourself the trouble, sweetheart. You won't find what you're looking for in there," he replied as he opened the door.
Heat crept up Roseanne's neck. She cursed herself under her breath.
He knew!
Of course he did.
"Have you decided when you'll let us go?" Roseanne asked as she leaned against the doorframe.
"Why the rush?" Czar stepped inside, loosening his tie with one hand. "Are you not comfortable here?"
