Roseanne felt her heart drop to her stomach.
The innocent call from her son echoed through the locker room, snapping her straight out of the haze Czar had thrown her into. She slowly uncovered her mouth, forcing herself to sound as normal as possible.
"Yes, sweetheart," she called back.
Kaden's voice came again, muffled by the door but clear as ever. "Are you changing inside, Mommy?"
"Yes, I'm wearing my boots right now," Roseanne replied, her heart thumping wildly in her chest.
Despite the situation, she could still feel Czar pressing shameless kisses to her neck, utterly undeterred by the close call.
"Okay! I'm done changing! Can I go outside first?"
"Yes, Mommy will join you soon."
"Bye bye, Mommy!"
"Bye, sweetheart."
