Chapter 31 - Pale Red Hue.

"You mean..." Dante raised his hand at Larissa, his finger pointing at her with only what seemed like a barely controlled anger.

"You left key information about the monster being a hyde because of your reputation." Wednesday said in a cold tone, but even to her macabre tastes, that was everything but counterproductive.

"I did it to save the school, if the press were to know about it, the place would be shut down for good." Larissa said defensively as she put a hand to her chest.

"And you didn't care about the lifes at risk anytime did you!? You only cared about a reputation while forgetting the important part about this school." Dante said angry as he didn't look away even while Larissa looked at him with the same fierce eyes.

"Enlighten me then." She said quickly, not even thinking about her words anymore.

"A place where outcast feel safe." Wednesday responded still seated, but her words were the strongest in the room as the place fell quiet, Larissa finally realized her mistake maybe was bigger than what she thought initially.

"I want the whole place prepared! There's a blood moon coming tomorrow so at least get some werewolves together, the hyde isn't strong enough to take on three, group up outcast that have chemistry with their powers..." Dante said as he turned to look at Wednesday, who finally stood up, handing Larissa a small notebook.

"What's this?" Larissa asked taking the unnamed object.

"There's plan to protect the whole school in there, no one here is strong enough to take on a full blow from the Hyde, only werewolves transformed, but if we're playing passive at least let's play it good." Wednesday said.

Larissa opened the notebook reading the plans Wednesday has made for the school, every student had atleast one thing to do, some were on the front line, 6 groups, each one with a profesor, except one that only had Wednesday and Dante, where the two would stay in the island, guarding Crackstone Crypt.

"I don't understand why would you stay at the crypt..." Larissa in almost a whisper, reading the notebook.

"The master of the hyde is planning to do something with Crackstone we still don't know, we wouldn't be worried about but-" Wednesday said.

"But my heart was the only thing that wasn't found in that underground base, so Laurel must know that my body is special." Dante cut Wednesday before she went on a rant of how my heart could be crucial for whatever needed to be done.

"If the master comes with the hyde, we can neutralize them the fastest." Dante said, but in this case who would do the neutralization would be him, if he got to grasp Tyler, he could reverse him back to his human form.

"I see..." Larissa said, her mind seemed conflicted with the idea of putting kids on the lines to protect the place, but it was that or just wait, where they would be scattered around and not even ready.

"It's the best we can do, Dante suggest adding the police, but I knew you'd be least leaned to that." Wednesday said, and she was right, the police would attract more of the press, they already are with Donovan searching the whole town and it's surroundings for his son.

"It's the best we can do, not the best of the best, the families should go, and surely they'll go with their children as soon as they know this thing." Dante said as he watched through the window, the moon only coming up now.

"It's best for you to let them go until the waters are calm, if a Gates already attempted to kill the whole place, then it's obvious Laurel is going for the same thing." Dante said, an ominous aura surrounding him as he spoke, his voice lacked emotion, but they carried a heavy meaning.

Wednesday/Enid room

"You're staying." Wednesday said with a firm tone that didn't leave a window of denial.

Enid looked at her with conviction as she nodded a few times "Of course I am! I can't leave my friends when danger is right at the corner." She said, a feeling of protection coming to her, one she never felt before, at least not as strong as now.

"Tomorrow's a blood moon, and..." Wednesday hesitated to say the last words, she was one girl who sticked to facts and certainty, but what comes next is just at the end a possibility.

"We especulate you're an alpha, and if that's the case, then a blood moon it's your chance to unlock your werewolf form." Dante finished what Wednesday couldn't dare to say.

Enid moved to see Dante who was sitting on the openof the window, her eyes widening with a sense of realization.

"You're stronger in all terms compared to regular werewolves who already unlocked their transformation, I already had my suspicion when I saw how tough you were." Dante said his reasoning, trying to avoid what Wednesday said before, setting up expectations to her was at the end the why she's distancing herself of her family.

"But alphas are normally just a lone wolf without a pack!" Enid said, her fear of being lonely showing again.

Dante smiled at her, a smile that she couldn't distinguish between arrogance or reassurance as he spoke "Don't worry, all of us will stay at your side, and if things get messy, I can take you down anytime." He finished, and Enid now was sure the smile was a strange mix of both arrogance and reassurance.

She seemed to calm down as she looked at Wednesday, who nodded towards her in a mild confirmation.

"Now, you two go sleep." Dante said standing up from the open window, his hand reaching out to keep it open.

"It's unnecessary for me, I can stay up for days without issue." Wednesday said, and her words surely were truth, but Dante didn't let that change his words.

"To sleep, your magic should be completely refilled, once it's morning go to the island, I'll be there." Dante said before closing the window.

'She always tries to look tougher around me, I suppose seeing how strong I am gave a sense to prove her own.' Dant thought as he jumped across the roofs, finally landing on the abandoned lago tower, my eyes scanning over the entire place.

I saw cars leaving the place in line, surely most families would take their children, only the strong ones wouldn't, maybe a display of confidence on their heirs, or confidence over the school.

Every light was out, except one small light inside the greenhouse, surely Ms.Thornhill was doing some last things with her plants before going to sleep.

Dante kept his eyes over the greenhouse before deciding to pay her a visit, jumping off the lago tower, he murmured something and one second before hitting the floor he stopped suddenly, before falling normally, saving the ground from having blood splattered and his clothes from being soaked.

He walked inside the schoolgrounds before entering the greenhouse where Thornhill quickly turned to see him.

"Dante! You shouldn't be out for the night!" She said hurriedly, her voice carrying a sense of warmness when he approached.

"Until the hyde problem isn't solved, classes are suspended... so I don't think there's a problem, what are you doing?" Dante said, he only caught the sense of warmness but took it as scolding.

Thornhill turned around and showed she was doing some sort infusion, a blue liquid residing inside a big syringe.

"Wow is that... Nightshade?" Dante asked, he knew that, they had already used something like that to him, but the real question would be why she would have it.

"Ahh yeah, I mainly use it in small cuantities to pacify the carnivorous plants when they're really aggressive." She said as he examinated the blue liquid with his eyes.

"That much is enough to kill a thousand people..." He said, and Thornhill picked it up and opened other hand around it.

"I just couldn't find anything smaller, I'd normally do less."

"Hmmm..." Dante seemed to finally let go of the matter, looking around the place.

"You sure you don't wanna go? You have less chances of surviving the hyde attacking than a regular student." Dante said, now a ting of preoccupation laced his voice.

"Oh Dante it's sweet of you to think like that, but if a teacher goes, what example does that give to the kids who decided it's best to stay and protect the school..." She said with a sweet almost motherly tone.

Dante smiled at her and said "You're truly a good teacher, I'd wish more people were as brave as you even while being weak." He said turning around, he didn't even graspes what he just said could sound offensive or a compliment with a hidden insult.

"Yeah sure..." Thornhill said, her face twisting into one of anger as soon as Dante turned around.

The boy finally left the greenhouse, silence filling the space, but between the thick foliage of multiple plants, Jane rose in between them from the shadows.

"He seems really like a good boy..." Jane said, Laurel couldn't pick up what emotions Jane had, or even identify if there was one.

'She has always been like this... only times she shown emotion was when we met...'

Months ago.

Laurel left her car, walking inside the forest, the same path she has taken for a few times already, she kept walking until she found her destination, entering the hollow cave she has been used to train Tyler.

She entered the cave, clothing on her hands, Tyler's clothing, afterall, if he came back everytime to society naked someone would've already noticed.

"Tyler honey! You're back no?" Laurel said with a motherly tone, a smile which would decieve anyone.

She the same pace as she deepened into the cave, but the only thing she heard were muffled sounds.

"Tyler?" Laurel asked, her voice with a small worry, but as soon as she went deeper, the sunlight only showed a terrible scene at her eyes.

Tyler was there, naked, of course, no problem at all with that, but he was being held by the neck, a woman in all black, her green eyes shined even when there was no light, a wicked smile on her perfect features.

They say the devil looks beautiful, but never seems completely right, but this woman was perfect in whatever part one could see, from her perfect hair to her figure, from her eyes to her lips, from her arms to her legs, from top to bottom.

Her beautiful lips seemed to finally calm down to a small smirk, but her hand kept Tyler on the air without problem.

"You! Ty-" Laurel tried to talk, but in milliseconds she was on the other hand of the woman, keeping them both in the air.

"Hear me, then obey me, that's your only choice." The woman said, her eyes lingering on Tyler.

"I saw you, killing a boy, I want to know why." The woman said.

After a quick explanation the woman finally let go of both of them, leaning on the wall as she looked down on both of them.

"I truly couldn't care less about your grudge, but we align, I'll take on the kid, and you get rid of that school..." Jane said.

"But he's already dead." Tyler said awkwardly, afterall he has only got his boxers on.

"No he's not..." Laurel said as she looked down, because if Tyler was right about who he killed, he just saw the same kid entering the school ang getting a talk with Larissa Weems.

"Exactly, even if you killed him now, tomorrow's a different story, afterall we inmortals all share traits, a hunger of tough fights and thirst for knowledge..." Jane said as she rose up from the wall.

"I'll strike in november 8, as soon as the day starts." Jane said, and the date made Laurel raise her head in surprise.

"Is it related to the blood moon?"

"Hmm? No, but you don't need to know why." Jane said with flat words.

"I also have to do something that day, it's actually the day I should strike Nevermore..."

Jane didn't say anything at all, only a small nod of acknowledge as she left the cave, her eyes were lost, as her mind only replayed the scene of the hyde killing the boy, her brother.

She saw how he rushed to help that deer, how he instantly tried to heal it, and that's the rare matter, he was able to, the only thing stopping him being the hyde.

'It's the first time an inmortal showcase an ability to work on the body of others, I suppose all that meaningless torture wasn't meaningless at all.' She thought, her head passing over thousands of books she has read, all related to inmortals, none said nothing.

"Must be either connected to the torture or his birth..." Jane said to herself, and her mind instantly replayed the day.

Jane looked down at her mother, the frightened woman had tears in her eyes, real tears as blood dripped from between her legs.

"All this time I thought I didn't have a brother... seems you just kept your legs closed you whore!" Jane yelled as she lunged foward towards her mom, the kind heart of the woman stopping her from actually defending herself against her daughter.

"Please... it's all to keep you company..." Her mother struggled to say words as Jane choked her, but her expression of fear was replaced with one of a mother's love as she tried stroking Jane's cheek.

"Ugh!" Jane swatted her hand away, and with the same hand she used, she swung her hand inside her mother's womb.

Breaching into her skin as her mother only yelled pleas to stop, she grabbed a small head and instantly pulled.

"Noooooo! Please think of us!" Her mother tried stopping her hand; but she already had pulled the kid entirely.

The kid looked like a dry fruit, obviously, too many time in that woman, surely it has stopped producing nutrients for the kid a long time ago.

"Nooooo...!" Her mother reached for the baby, her nails digging down into her weak shoulders.

Both woman didn't even struggled as her nails only ripped down the skin of the baby, and that was the first time Dante was injured, the first sin committed towards him was done by the woman who loved him from the very start.
