Chapter 23: I'm just cleaning the shit out of my backyard.
Large Chinese, Russian, Japanese, and Italian organizations were all having a terrible day today.
Adrian spared no one. Even politicians, businessmen, and everyone from high society were not spared, along with their accomplices. Today was a day of cleansing.
And Adrian wasn't joking around. With the Eyes of God, he was like a primordial entity on the internet; no one could escape him. With his telepathy, nothing could be hidden from him. He was applying justice with his own hands.
He searched, executed those with heinous crimes, and those whose crimes weren't so severe he allowed the justice system to handle.
Of course, considering that justice was often carried out by whoever had the most money, Adrian made sure to ruin the lives of those people.
Politicians had their careers destroyed, all their money disappeared into mysterious accounts, businessmen had their personal lives ruined, and several CEOs of massive multimillion-dollar corporations were exposed.
Anyone in New York today was truly unlucky, because Adrian spared no one. He was relentless. He was efficient.
Yes, he could have been crueler. He could have sent everyone to hell, but even he knew he couldn't be that extreme. Society still needed the appearance of control, the government still needed to appear competent, or there would be anarchy until someone took the reins of the situation.
And Adrian didn't want to rule or guide a flock of sheep like Moses. He wasn't a villain or a bad guy. Since becoming more confident in his powers, he had become chaotic neutral leaning toward chaotic good.
If he saw someone struggling in front of him, he would help. It was as simple as that. He wasn't someone completely altruistic like Spider-Man or Superman, but he would extend his hand to help someone in difficulty if they were in front of him. Because of that nature, he decided to clean his backyard.
He didn't have the drive to take care of the entire planet like a certain Man of Steel. The job would be endless; he wouldn't even have time to live his life. But with all the power he had, if he couldn't keep his "small" territory clean of trash, he might as well kill himself right there.
In less than three hours, the country had been turned upside down by Adrian. The internet was filled with leaked files, the prisons were full, and he even had to create several prisons and throw everyone there. Even if people in power tried to cover it up or minimize the issue, they couldn't.
Adrian made sure no one could hide anything.
Surprisingly, while he was doing his cleaning work, the country's army acted and tried to "deal" with him. Seeing those fools, Adrian genuinely laughed, and with just a snap of his fingers, all the helicopters and military equipment simply disappeared. They went from soldiers to civilians wearing nothing but basic clothes.
"Before trying to attack someone, first look at yourself and then evaluate your chances of winning the fight." Like a proper elder of the My Dong is Massive sect, he taught the general who was now wearing casual clothes like a hippie.
"…Thanks for the warning," the commander said with a very forced smile.
"You're welcome," Adrian replied with a smile on his face.
After leaving them in the middle of the street, Adrian rose into the air and went back to work.
The internet at that moment was chaos. People had split into two groups: those who supported his actions and those who believed he was dangerous and should be arrested and detained.
Adrian didn't care about either of them. He wasn't doing this to seek validation. He was doing it because he wanted to.
Now that he had taken care of the humans… he would take care of the animals. And unlike ungrateful humans, this time Adrian put in maximum effort. If there was anyone in the world who deserved full attention, it was animals.
"Hey, buddy, don't worry, I'm here for you…" He gently picked up the cat that was extremely thin, missing its tail and ears, and while gently petting it, he healed its body to its ideal state and slowly put it to sleep.
"Meow…"
"Awo…"
"I know, Jeff… I know. Many times I ask myself the same thing: how can someone mistreat them? But there are simply sadistic and evil people who don't see anything wrong with it and even feel pleasure in torturing them.
Animals retain memories. With a little telepathy mixed with the power of the Eyes of God, it was easy for Adrian to see everything the cat had gone through.
"Just because they don't speak doesn't mean they don't have feelings. Just because they don't express themselves like we do doesn't mean they don't feel pain… Some people simply don't understand that."
Adrian activated his eyes and searched for that teenager. In just a few seconds he found him, and with his telepathic powers he saw all the abuse he had committed against animals.
The story of this little one? He had been adopted from the streets by a couple, but their 16-year-old son mistreated him. Unable to take it anymore, he ran away from home and became a stray cat.
He killed birds and laughed. He killed dogs and dismembered them. He killed cats and buried them in the backyard. For him, everything was entertainment. Even knowing it was wrong, he did it anyway.
For a few seconds, Adrian didn't know what to do. Technically, that boy hadn't killed any humans. He had only killed animals.
Was the life of an animal the same as the life of a human?
Suddenly Adrian remembered the words of his friend, the Cosmic Hero, one of the many things they talked about while playing video games.
"Life is precious, Adrian." He laughed. "It doesn't matter if it's small or large. That's why I help everyone, especially those who cannot express themselves like we do."
Adrian obtained his answer. Sometimes the life of an animal is worth more than that of a human.
…But where was the line he shouldn't cross? If he judged everyone who mistreated animals as evil, he would have to eliminate every human being on the planet.
After all, the very raising of chickens and cows is an act of pure cruelty. They are raised to feed living beings. Their lifespan is extremely short. It is cruelty that feeds millions.
The ecosystem isn't bad or good. It is simply nature. A brown bear kills hundreds of fish and only eats the best parts, leaving the carcass behind. That same carcass will feed other animals, and after those animals die, fungi will feed on them.
Nature is cruel. It is neither good nor evil…
Humans are the ones who are wrong. They are a species that does not belong to the ecosystem. In fact, they actively destroy it.
The world needs a predator. Humans need a predator… someone strong enough to use them as food… They—
"Stop."
Adrian immediately forced himself to wake up from his state. He had become too immersed in his thought process, and his brain had actively tried to find a solution to a problem that had no definitive solution without something drastic, and that pushed his mind in a dangerous direction.
No matter how much you justify it, if you had to choose between saving a human baby or a kitten—
Most humans would choose the human baby. Why? Because it is a human baby. It is an instinctive thought.
As living beings, instinctively you protect your own kind. Humans are only slightly different because of rationality.
If Adrian were forced to choose between saving an adult cat and an adult human, he would choose the adult cat.
Why? Because he didn't know the other man and didn't care about him.
The answer changes for everyone depending on who is on the other side.
If someone had to choose between saving a beautiful woman and a female gorilla, most would choose the beautiful woman.
See? It is an unsolvable problem, unless he builds a society that is harmonious with animals and respects them—something like an elven city from fantasy, or like Pandora of the Na'vi.
Therefore… Adrian made a decision, the decision he had already made before but which had just been reinforced.
"I will be a hypocrite and do what I think is best in each situation."
Adrian used his telepathy and created a problem for the teenager. He would feel firsthand everything he had done to animals. Every day he would dream about it, reliving it until the most recent event.
From now on, whenever he thought about torturing an animal, the mechanism in his mind would activate and he would feel as if he were the small animal being tortured. He would literally take the role of the victim.
The mind is an interesting thing. If you believe strongly enough that something is wrong, your brain will create a problem for you. Adrian was using the same mechanism, only far more complex because of telepathy and biokinesis.
Nothing would happen if he didn't have those thoughts, and he could even live a normal life. But if he forced himself and still wanted to torture someone, even ignoring the mental trigger—
His body would be forced to shut down, and he would die.
As said before, the mind is an interesting thing. You can do many things with it. Someone with Adrian's knowledge of biology, combined with his biokinesis and the Eyes of God, living beings were like modeling clay to him.
Adrian repeated this action whenever he saw an abused animal. But unlike the teenager who had never hurt a human, some animal owners went straight to hell. Some of them not only abused animals but also abused their families, committing horrible acts against them. Some even had past records of killing defenseless youths.
Adrian's justice was flawed. After all, it was personal justice. He did what he believed was right. But unlike someone who tends to be narrow-minded or ignores everything like some heroes, Adrian kept an open mind and always tried to understand everything.
"…I think I'll make a Noah's Ark and put every species in the world there. What do you think, Jeff?"
"Awo… Awooo." Jeff thought for a few seconds and then nodded in agreement.
"Well, since we're here, let's do it. It just so happens that I also have some projects for the ark…"
It wouldn't really be an ark like Noah's. It would be a spaceship he had thought about.
"I'll call it Polaris. Let's get the animals! I want a snow leopard—I'll call him Tai Lung. I'll get a panda and call him Po Ping. Their battle will be legendary!"
…
At nightfall, Adrian was in space near Jupiter, looking at the capital-class spaceship with more than 50,000 km of total internal space that he named Polaris.
That was the internal space. A capital-class ship that could theoretically house a maximum of 100,000 people. To live comfortably, with space for 50,000 to 70,000 people, would be ideal.
The ship was made entirely from an alloy of Uru, vibranium, and adamantium—the same defense he had in his armor.
How did he have those materials?
Again, Adam's magic was nonsense. Combine that with his eyes that could see down to atoms, and he could practically create those materials at will.
Adamantium he had seen in Deadpool's blades and Logan's skeleton. Vibranium he just took a peek at in Wakanda. And Uru—he had seen Thor's hammer when he saved the plane.
"…I think I overdid it."
With Quantum Magic and his divine brain, making the capital-class ship had been ridiculously easy.
Again, that magic was overpowered.
"Awo."
Jeff rolled his eyes as if to say no shit. He was wearing a little astronaut suit. Of course it was mostly decorative. With Adrian's powers, he wouldn't let his brother die from something as simple as the vacuum of space.
"In my defense, I wanted a ship that had all the entertainment from Earth. An amusement park, cinema, theater, library—every form of entertainment that exists there."
"…Awo? Awo!"
"Huuh… For my minions and wife?"
"AWO!?"
"Hey, even I don't want to have fifty thousand wives. That's ridiculous. This spaceship will be where my laboratory and my future subordinates stay. My minions will stay here. My androids too. The animals from the Noah's Ark will stay here as well…
Hmm, I could become something like the Collector—gather every species in the universe and preserve them…"
The more Adrian thought about it, the more he liked the idea.
The entire Polaris was powered by a small sun that produced infinite energy.
"Hmm, I should make nanotechnology… A ship that practically sustains itself with my minions…"
Adrian's eyes shone with excitement. He entered the ship and immediately summoned his minions from the base.
"Minions! Your job is to make as many weapons as possible! Go crazy! Use all the resources! I don't care!"
With a thought, Adrian transferred all his knowledge of weapons to the minions. There was a reason Adrian had left Polaris's weapon systems empty—it was because he wanted to see what kind of things his minions would create.
After all, they also had his reality-bending power if they believed strongly enough.
"DAKKA!"
They all shouted in excitement, and for a moment Adrian seriously thought he had gone to the wrong universe.
He glanced around and sighed.
"Good, no Chaos God or Golden Throne."
He sighed in relief.
While the minions went crazy, Adrian began covering the ship with nanotechnology.
"What if the ship turned into a Gundam?"
He had a sudden inspiration and quickly blocked the thought.
Nanotechnology would be enough.
With this technology, the entire ship would be extremely flexible on the inside. The main skeleton would not change and would remain firm, but everything beyond that structure would be flexible.
That meant if he created a wall filled with weapons, that wall could move throughout the entire space of the ship.
In 30 minutes, Adrian created the technology. It took longer because he had difficulty fusing adamantium, vibranium, and uru with nanotechnology.
After all, adamantium's properties were well known. But with some modifications to the atoms—turning them into intelligent atoms—and using the symbiote as a medium, he managed to create the technology.
In the following 20 minutes, he covered the entire ship with it, except the skeleton that would act as the central core.
After finishing everything, he left the minions to have fun and opened a portal connected to the portal in his mansion.
"Bring all my things afterward and put everything in the personal wing!" he said to the nearest minion.
"Aye!"
The minion saluted and quickly got to work.
Adrian let Jeff enjoy Polaris for the moment, and soon he went to deal with a certain fat man.
