Except for Prince Rhett, all six alpha brothers were present at the morgue. The corpse of Concubine Morgan's maid had been carried there, but the mystery behind her clean death hung in the air like awaiting judgment.
"Since Rain decided to marry that cripple, bad omens have not ceased to happen," Victor hissed.
"Don't say that of the crown prince and his mate, Prince Victor. Either way, we have an assassin within the palace, and I would rather we all stay calm and committed to each other than throw around blame," Kebel said, and Victor's tongue clicked.
"Of course you would support him. Every time that brat has done something wrong, you would weirdly stand by his side… are you his mother?"
Kebel's breath hitched, his eyes flaring, but the king was quick.
"Victor," he growled, and Victor quickly bowed.
"Father…" he greeted, but King Aldric did not spare him a glance. He quietly walked up to his first son and favorite.
