The royal decree arrived just in time. The palace was humming with chaos, confusion, and fear. Even the princes didn't dare lead the royal guards to make the arrest.
The crown prince was in his chamber, curled up in the arms of his mate, when the royal guards arrived, and Viola announced their presence. Rain did not look all that surprised. Idris helped Caelan to his chair, and Rain pushed him outside to meet the joy snatchers. All he wanted was to stay in the arms of his man all day, and they just had to add salt to his food… making everything sour.
The guard's second captain stepped forward, his fingers clenched on the royal decree as he spread it open and began reading.
"Crown Prince Rain Vale, heir to the crown of Silverreach, shall be detained on the grounds of treason and kingdom instability. He shall be placed in the southern dungeons until further investigations clear him of all suspicion… so the king orders."
