Prince Rain hastily dragged Cealan out of the king's chamber, his breath choked and uneven. His fingers were trembling, but his grip on his mate tightened harder, like he was running and trying to protect not only himself but also Cealan from something.
Cealan didn't get a chance for them to stop, not when Rain's steps tripled, his face turned pale, and his legs moved as fast as they could.
The guards outside the king's chamber noticed, but everyone kept their mouths shut. They quickly lowered their heads, pretending not to see, for it was best to keep quiet. Within the palace walls, secrets were like weapons, but rumors were far more vicious.
