Everything was going according to plan. The message of Dravaren's visit had arrived, and their coming meant things would go as planned for King Aldric. He sat on his throne with a plastered smile, awaiting the great fall of his son while the final takeover of his mate.
Bel was unlike Kebel. He kept his word, even if it meant sacrificing dignity and name, while Kebel was more moved by emotions and had been going around trying hard to get his hands on anything that would help boost the likeness of his son before the southern royals. King Aldric watched with a satisfied grin.
On the other hand, it wasn't only the king and his court that were planning… the concubines held yet another meeting. All three women sat with stern faces, a cup of tea in hand, and their legs crossed, with their hair pushed backwards neatly. They wore fine jewelry, but nothing near white gold.
