Liora watched him walk to an empty shelf — the very shelf, she realized with a chill, where Aether's book had rested only moments ago — and place the book gently upon it. He lingered there for a moment, his hand resting against the cover as though saying goodbye to something he loved. Then he turned and walked away, back into the depths of the Vault, and did not look back.
The vision faded. The mirror returned to showing the empty room.
Liora lowered her hand slowly, her mind racing to catch up with what she had just witnessed.
"He prepared this," she said. "Long before any of us were born. He knew this moment would come."
"What do you mean?" Aether asked.
"The Reflection had already prepared a place for himself," Liora said, her voice hushed with something between awe and dread. "Not in history. Not in memory." She looked back at the mirror, at the still, empty room that refused to show anything else. "Inside the unwritten truth itself."
