Chapter 7: Xiao Wu, Your Egg is Huge
Tang San fell flat on his back. However, Xiao Wu had not used much force, and with the Mysterious Heaven Skill protecting his body, he did not suffer any real injury.
After throwing Tang San down, Xiao Wu sprang up lightly. She turned around and looked at him with a half smile.
"I lost." Tang San's face reddened as he admitted defeat frankly.
From that brief exchange, he could tell Xiao Wu had clearly held back during her sudden attack style. Otherwise, even with the Mysterious Heaven Skill, he would have been seriously hurt.
After all, a person's neck was extremely fragile.
"According to the dormitory rules, since you beat me, you're now the dorm head of Dormitory 7," Tang San said. "That means you're the boss of our group."
"Boss?" Xiao Wu giggled. "That sounds fun. Then from now on, I'm your boss. Choosing to be a work study student was a great idea."
"But don't call me boss, call me Sister Xiao Wu!"
"Sister Xiao Wu, I'm Lin Mo. Have some fruit."
Lin Mo took 2 more pieces of fruit from his bag, stood up, walked over, and handed them to Xiao Wu.
He had no resistance to calling her Sister Xiao Wu.
Even though he had lived 3 lives, his total lifespan combined was not even a fraction of the time Xiao Wu had lived as a 100,000 year Spirit Beast before her re cultivation.
"Thanks."
After taking the fruit, Xiao Wu placed her luggage and uniform on a bed. The bed she chose happened to be right next to Tang San's.
Then she turned to the silent crowd and frowned slightly.
"Now, who's going to tell me about our academy? What's the situation here?"
The group snapped back to attention. In the end, Wang Sheng braced himself and stepped forward, explaining the academy's details to the 3 new work study students.
"Our tasks aren't heavy. We mainly clean the academy."
"As for which area we clean, that's arranged by the teacher assigned to us."
"The academy has 6 grades, 1 class per grade. Sister Xiao Wu, since you, Tang San, and Lin Mo are new, you'll all be first grade students."
"The rest of us here, the lowest is third grade. I'm moving up to sixth grade this year."
"The academy has classes in the morning and self cultivation in the afternoon. One class is general knowledge, and the other is about Martial Souls."
"Most work study students also have work in the afternoon to earn money for meals."
After hearing that, Xiao Wu looked toward Lin Mo with curiosity.
"Are you the third work study student recruited this year besides me and Tang San? What's your Martial Soul?"
"This is my Martial Soul." Lin Mo raised the egg in his hand and answered helplessly.
"An egg?"
Xiao Wu sounded even more surprised. With a light tap of her foot, she flashed to Lin Mo's side and instinctively reached out to touch the egg.
But Lin Mo, who was already prepared, shifted aside to avoid her hand.
"Better not touch it randomly. It doesn't like being touched by others."
Lin Mo's blunt refusal did not make Xiao Wu uncomfortable. She laughed awkwardly.
"Fine. If you won't let me touch it, then forget it. I just felt like your egg is so big."
Lin Mo's mouth twitched.
Could he expect anything else from a 100,000 year rogue rabbit? What kind of phrasing was that?
Just then, a teacher who looked to be in his 30s walked in from outside, carrying a set of bedding.
"New working students, which one of you is Tang San?"
Hearing that, Tang San hurriedly stood up from his bed.
The teacher had dark green hair. He said, "My name is Mo Hen. You can call me Teacher Mo. Tang San, this is the bedding Grandmaster gave you."
Then his gaze swept the dorm.
"And the other 2 working students?"
At his words, Lin Mo and Xiao Wu stood up as well.
"Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Lin Mo. You 3 are all first grade working students. From now on, you'll be responsible for cleaning the garden on the south side of the playground."
"10 bronze coins a day. Remember to clean every day, and clean it well. Otherwise your wages will be docked."
"Also, if there's any evidence of slacking off, the school has the right to dismiss you. Is that clear?"
All 3 nodded, showing they understood.
Mo Hen nodded in satisfaction.
"Tomorrow is the opening ceremony. Classes officially start the day after."
"First grade meets in Class 1 on the first floor of the teaching building. Show up on time the day after tomorrow. Your work also officially begins that day."
"Remember to work diligently. I will conduct random inspections."
"Wang Sheng, you're the oldest here. Explain the rest of the details to them."
After finishing his instructions and handing the bedding to Tang San, Teacher Mo Hen turned and left.
As expected, once Mo Hen was gone, Xiao Wu immediately set her sights on Tang San's bedding.
In the end, the 2 of them happily reached an agreement. They pushed their beds together and decided to share the blanket, each taking half.
Lin Mo sat on his own bed and quietly watched, his expression thoughtful.
He had no intention of getting too deeply involved with Tang San and Xiao Wu. Treating them the same as the other work study students in the dorm was enough.
Whether it was Xiao Wu's identity as a 100,000 year Spirit Beast in human form, or Tang San's identity as the biological son of Clear Sky Douluo, either one would cause a bloodbath across the Douluo Continent if exposed.
In Lin Mo's eyes, both of them were massive trouble.
And his attitude toward trouble had always been to keep it at arm's length.
He did not want to experience that feeling of powerlessness again, the feeling of being crushed to death like an ant.
He wanted to live, and to live forever.
Based on his cultivation progress over the last 3 months, his Spirit Power would definitely break through to Rank 10 before the first grade school year ended.
Once his Spirit Power reached Rank 10, his strength would undergo an earth shaking change.
First, reaching the bottleneck meant he could obtain a Spirit Ring and continue advancing. Second, the Charmander Egg would finish hatching.
That way, even if he kept his second Martial Soul hidden, he would still have solid combat power on the surface.
However, if he wanted to obtain a Spirit Ring and take another step forward, he would still need to rely on the academy.
Those low risk, man made Spirit Hunting Forests required a hand order issued by the 2 great Empires to enter.
And those wild Spirit Beast forests were far too dangerous for Lin Mo and Charmander.
For a weak work study student like him with no background, entering a Spirit Beast forest alone to hunt Spirit Beasts was no different from seeking death.
He had no desire to travel a thousand miles just to deliver himself as takeout to a beast.
Not everyone was like Tang San, who had a Titled Douluo father secretly protecting him while he hunted Spirit Beasts.
Moreover, Lin Mo had already made a detailed plan.
Once Charmander hatched and he obtained his first Spirit Ring, it would be time to graduate from Nuoding Academy.
After becoming a true Spirit Master, staying here would be a meaningless waste of time.
At that point, he would need to enter a brand new intermediate academy and begin the next stage of his learning journey.
