All he could feel was darkness.
A deep, endless darkness pulling at him furiously, dragging him deeper into its cold embrace, but Xavier refused to surrender to it. Somewhere within that void, while his mind drifted between life and death, he saw a light.
A beautiful light.
It floated toward him slowly, glowing brighter with every second, yet something invisible held it back. The light struggled to reach him, pushing forward again and again, but no matter how hard it tried, it could not cross whatever barrier separated them.
"I have to reach it…" Xavier whispered weakly to himself. "That light is here for me… I have to hold it…"
He forced his trembling body upright, gathering every remaining ounce of strength he possessed, but his legs felt weightless, like feathers incapable of carrying him.
The harder he tried to move, the weaker he became.
Then suddenly—
He collapsed heavily onto the ground, landing like a lifeless sack.
"Fuck this…" he groaned painfully.
