Inside the rickety bus Levi had found, they all entered silently, scattering across the back seats with their respective partners. At the far end sat Asher with Xavier laid against him.
Asher hadn't been able to find a proper medical kit, so all he could do was press down against the bleeding and try to soothe the wounds until they reached a hospital. Earlier, he had insisted they stop at the city hospital despite the danger, and thankfully the others had agreed.
" This is all your fault. Sometimes accept that you're human and can actually get yourself killed for crying out loud. You're not immortal like you think you are, Xavier. Just look at you… if I hadn't come, I would have lost you."
Asher's dreadful words echoed through the otherwise silent bus, making everyone stiffen.
Because that was the reality staring them in the face.
