Wakanda. The shield perimeter.
The black tide was suffocating.
Thousands of Outriders — eyeless, six-limbed, bred to die — crashed against the invisible barrier with the mindless persistence of army ants. They squeezed through, cut themselves on the energy field, burned to ash — and the ones behind climbed over the corpses without pausing.
"They're flanking the shield!" Shuri's voice in the comms. "If they circle to the rear—"
"Then we don't let them circle."
T'Challa looked at the swarm. Took a breath. Turned to the warriors and Avengers behind him.
"Open Barrier Seventeen."
"What?" General Okoye stared.
"Open it! Control the battlefield in front of us!"
HUM—!!
The shield cracked open — a gap dozens of meters wide. The black tide found the floodgate and poured through.
"YIBAMBE!!"
T'Challa charged.
"HULK... SMASH!!!"
Hulk hit the front line like a green wrecking ball in vibranium gladiator armor. Fists the size of engine blocks turned Outriders into paste — three, four at a time. He grabbed two alive and used them as clubs to bludgeon the rest.
"HAHA! BUGS! SO MANY BUGS!!"
Steve followed. Twin plasma shields hummed. Green blades swept through leaping aliens, bisecting them mid-air.
Bucky's gravity-compression arm produced a sonic boom with every punch. Falcon's vibranium nano-blades carved through flanking groups. Rhodes's infinite-ammo cannons laid down suppressive fire like a walking artillery platform. Tony's floating cannons rained micro-missiles into the densest clusters.
But the tide was endless.
Thousands became tens of thousands. Tens of thousands became a horizon of black chitin and claws.
"Too many!" Hulk shook off a dozen aliens biting his armor. "JAKE! NOT READY YET? HULK GETTING ANGRY!"
"Move aside."
The voice didn't come through air. It vibrated directly in their eardrums — a frequency that bypassed physics and spoke straight to bone.
Everyone looked up.
In the center of the battlefield, Jake floated in a sphere of blue sonic energy.
Ultimate Echo Echo. Evolved Sonorosian.
Entirely blue. White megaphone-plated armor covering every surface. Slender, mechanical, hovering on sound waves instead of feet. Over a dozen Sonic Discs orbited his body like satellites.
"What... is that?" Proxima Midnight gripped her spear. Something in her gut — ancient, primal — told her to run.
"That is your death knell."
Ultimate Echo Echo raised his arms. The dozen Sonic Discs split. Replicated. Split again. Thousands of blue-glinting discs launched outward, spreading across the battlefield in seconds — hovering above every cluster of Outriders, forming a precise, dead-zone-free sonic matrix.
"COVER YOUR EARS!!"
Tony's sensors had already detected what was coming. "SHUT DOWN AUDITORY SYSTEMS! NOW!!"
Jake's headphone-clad head tilted forward.
"Symphony of Destruction — Liquefaction."
HUM————!!!!!
No explosion. No flash.
A high-frequency hum — beyond the range of hearing, beyond the range of surviving — swept across the entire plain in a single pulse.
The air became visible. Physical ripples expanding outward from every Sonic Disc simultaneously.
Tens of thousands of Outriders froze.
Then the resonant frequency found their biology.
Carapaces cracked. Muscles separated. Bones shattered. Internal organs burst.
Pff-pff-pff-pff-pff—
Like ten thousand water balloons popping at once.
The entire Outrider army — the black tide that had been overwhelming, endless, terrifying — disintegrated in the same second. Bodies liquefied. Armor crumbled. What had been a living invasion force became pools of black fluid soaking into Wakandan soil.
No screams. Their vocal cords had shattered before sound could form.
Three seconds.
Two-thirds of Thanos's ground army — gone.
The Wakandan warriors and Avengers at the battlefield's edge felt their eardrums sting. Nothing more. Ultimate Echo Echo's precision was absolute — every frequency calibrated to alien biology, harmless to anything else.
Silence.
Hulk — fists raised, mid-swing, target suddenly absent — looked at the empty field ahead.
"Bugs... gone?"
T'Challa removed his helmet. "Is this... a miracle?"
"No." Tony swallowed, reading his HUD. Sonic Weapon Kill Efficiency: 99.9%. "This is a dimensional strike."
Ultimate Echo Echo recalled the Sonic Discs — thousands of blue stars converging back into orbit around his body. He looked down at Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, whose faces had gone the color of chalk.
"RETREAT! Call Sanctuary II! We need orbital bombardment!" Proxima screamed.
"Bombardment?"
Jake pointed at the sky.
"You mean that?"
Flaming debris was falling through the atmosphere — but not reinforcements. Burning wreckage. The remains of landing pods that no longer existed.
"Plumbers Moon Base orbital railgun. One hundred percent hit rate." Gwen's calm, proud voice in his mind. "Scavenger work complete."
"Nice work, Gwen."
Jake landed. Detransformed. Human.
He looked at the shattered remnants of Thanos's vanguard — the survivors who'd lost every shred of will to fight — and straightened his collar.
"Warm-up's over."
He turned to the team. Every face held awe.
"Time to force the boss out."
"Vision — are you ready?"
From the rear, White Vision walked forward — grey-white, gemless, rational. He carried the Anti-Energy Suppression Box containing the Mind Stone.
"I am ready to be a perfect bait, Officer."
