Wakanda. The sky split into three colors.
Purple-blue from Thanos's Infinity Stones. Emerald green from Jake's nuclear reactor. And the newcomer — a pitch-black triangular warship wrapped in deep cyan temporal energy that didn't belong to any era the present had names for.
"Kang the Conqueror...?"
Tony's radar screamed warnings: "Unresolvable spatiotemporal fluctuations! That equipment is centuries ahead of my nanotech!"
Strange floated mid-air like a puppet — controlled, limp, the Time Stone pulsing on his chest. Behind him, the green-armored figure on the warship's bow surveyed the battlefield with the particular disdain of someone who'd already seen how this ended.
His gaze lingered on Thanos's Gauntlet. Dismissed it with a flicker of scorn. Then found the Omnitrix on Jake's chest — and there, greed surfaced.
"What a chaotic timeline."
Kang's mask-filtered voice carried the arrogance of absolute certainty. "Your existence has turned the sacred timeline into a tangled mess. The TVA couldn't handle you, so I came personally."
"Here to pick up trash?" Jake descended, feet cratering the ground. "Too bad — you look like a trash can yourself."
"Arrogant."
Kang raised his palm. Cyan glow.
"Kneel."
BZZZ—!!
Temporal pressure descended — not gravity, but the forced deceleration of time itself. Steve and T'Challa, mid-charge, slowed to statues. Dust froze in the air. Heartbeats stretched to minutes.
Two figures remained unaffected.
Thanos — shielded by the Space and Power Stones.
Jake — protected by the Omnitrix's temporal resistance, built from Clockwork's DNA.
"You think you're worthy of making me kneel?"
Thanos's contempt was nuclear. He swung the Gauntlet — Space Stone blazing — and the space around Kang's warship shattered like a mirror, attempting to crush ship and pilot together.
"Crude."
Kang tapped his wrist controller.
"Time — rewind."
The shattered space reversed. Every fragment flew backward, reassembled, sealed. The warship hung untouched, as if the attack had never happened.
"My turn."
Cyan beams erupted from the warship — not explosives, but temporal erosion. Anything they touched experienced millions of years of decay in seconds. Trees became dust. Rocks became sand. Metal became rust became nothing.
Temporal Stripping.
"DON'T take it head-on!" Jake roared.
He threw himself in front of the frozen Avengers and spread his arms.
"Nuclear Barrier!!"
The Atomix reactor converted from offense to defense — a massive green hemisphere shielding everyone behind him.
SZZZT-SZZZT-SZZZT!!
The cyan beams hit the nuclear shield. No explosion — but the shield was aging. The energy barrier eroding under temporal attack, Jake's reserves draining at catastrophic speed.
"This guy's the real deal..." Jake's jaw clenched.
Three-way standoff.
Kang wanted to prune the timeline — eliminate everyone.
Thanos wanted the Time Stone — currently on Strange, currently in Kang's possession.
Jake wanted to protect Earth, his team, and every Stone on the field.
The triangle that couldn't hold.
"I have to break this."
Jake dropped the shield. Shouted at Thanos.
"HEY! Sweet Potato Spirit! How long are you going to watch? That guy is taking the Time Stone to the future! If he leaves — you'll NEVER complete your collection!"
Thanos's eyes went cold.
Correct. Between the formidable Earthling and the time-manipulator, Kang was the greater threat to his destiny.
BOOM!
Thanos launched — a purple cannonball ignoring Jake entirely — and drove a Power Stone fist into Kang's shield.
"GIVE ME — THE STONE!!"
"Barbarian." Kang attempted time-stop.
"HEY! Don't forget ME!"
While Thanos drew Kang's focus, Jake clasped his hands. The reactor screamed toward overload.
"You two want to play with time and space? I'll just FLIP THE TABLE!"
"Fusion Fission — MINI SUN!!"
A five-meter sphere of green light — dense as a stellar core — formed between Jake's palms. He didn't aim it at either combatant.
He threw it into the space between them.
"EXPLODE!!"
RRRUMBLE——————!!!!!!
A miniature nuclear detonation — powerful enough to briefly tear through Wakanda's spatial barrier. The heatwave shredded Kang's unprepared warship shields and sent him tumbling. Strange broke free from Kang's control and plummeted.
Thanos — point-blank nuclear blast to the face — lost his remaining armor entirely and was hurled hundreds of meters.
"WONG! CATCH STRANGE!!"
A portal opened precisely beneath the falling sorcerer. Strange vanished through it — teleported to the safe zone behind Cap's position.
Dust cleared.
Kang stood — disheveled but uninjured, future-tech armor absorbing what it could. His expression went arctic when he realized Strange was gone.
"You have ruined the sacred script."
Temporal portals began forming around him. An army, preparing to deploy.
Thanos dragged himself from rubble. Blood-covered. More damaged than any previous engagement. He looked at Jake, then at Kang, and the strategic mind that had conquered worlds for centuries made its assessment.
Continuing meant death.
"Earth..."
One final look — fury, frustration, the promise of return — then the Space Stone blazed.
Thanos vanished.
Four Stones. Two enemies. And he fled.
Jake and Kang. Alone.
"The Sweet Potato ran." Jake aimed Atomix's radiation-emitting fists at the Conqueror. "Now it's you and me, Time Thief."
"You think you've won?"
Kang's body shimmered — becoming translucent, temporal.
"I came to assess the Variable's threat level. Now I have what I need."
His mask fixed on Jake.
"Jake Rivers. Wielder of the Omnitrix."
"Enjoy your remaining moments. The next time we meet — it will be at the end of time."
Whoosh.
Kang — warship and all — compressed into a point of light and vanished into the timestream like a television switching off.
Silence.
Wakanda's scarred plains. Cratered. Irradiated. Still standing.
Jake detransformed. His legs buckled. He nearly collapsed — caught himself with one hand on the scorched earth.
"JAKE!" Gwen's voice in his ear, cracking. "Your vitals almost flatlined!"
"I'm fine..."
He lay back on the warm vibranium ground. Looked at the darkening sky. Let himself smile — small, exhausted, genuine.
"At least... we held it."
For now.
