Wakanda. Night sky.
The stars were gone. Replaced by warships.
Chitauri Leviathans cruised through the clouds like living aircraft carriers. Sakaaran Necrocraft dove in swarms. And hanging above everything — Sanctuary II, an inverted steel mountain casting a shadow that covered the entire nation.
"FIRE!! All batteries — FIRE AT WILL!!"
T'Challa roared. Wakanda's vibranium anti-aircraft towers lit up — blue energy beams lancing skyward.
Outside the atmosphere.
"This is Plumbers Moon Base. Gwen Stacy speaking."
Gwen stood at the command console, studying the holographic display. The number of enemy contacts was the kind of number that made people stop counting and start praying.
Her eyes were calm.
"Target lock: enemy vanguard fleet. Orbital Cannon Array — all batteries fire."
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!!
On the Moon's far side, dozens of gravity-acceleration cannons fired simultaneously. Solid projectiles — each one carrying enough kinetic energy to crack a small moon — streaked through space and slammed into Thanos's fleet.
Hundreds of ships exploded before reaching the atmosphere. Brilliant sparks scattered across the void.
"Nice!" Rhodes cheered from the ground.
But hundreds of ships out of thousands was a rounding error.
Sanctuary II. Bridge.
Thanos watched the blue shield below with cold patience.
He raised the Gauntlet. Power Stone and Space Stone lit simultaneously.
"Shatter."
RRRUMBLE!!
A pillar of purple-blue energy — a thousand meters in diameter — descended from Sanctuary II and struck Wakanda's dome.
ZZZT — CRACK!!
The vibranium shield — the strongest on Earth — held for three seconds. Then it screamed. Then it shattered like glass.
The barrier was gone.
Leviathans poured through. Drop pods crashed like rain. The earth shook. The jungle burned.
"PREPARE TO ENGAGE!" Steve raised both shields.
"Don't panic."
Jake walked to the front of the line. Looked at the sky full of enemies with the particular calm of a man who'd already done the math.
"They want human wave tactics? I'll show them what it means to be one man surrounding an army."
He pressed the Omnitrix.
"System — remove transformation cooldown. Activate Quick Switch mode."
[Confirmed. High-frequency transformation enabled. Warning: stamina consumption doubled.]
"Don't care. Let's have some fun."
"It's Hero Time!!"
Green flash. XLR8.
A blue-black lightning bolt tore into the Outrider landing zone. One second. One circle. Hundreds of monsters caught in a friction-generated fire tornado and hurled skyward.
Green flash. Mid-air. Four Arms.
Four palms together — SONIC CLAP!
BOOM!! The airborne Outriders — no leverage, no escape — were shattered into mist by the shockwave.
Green flash. Before landing. Big Chill.
Jake phased through a falling Leviathan — a hundred-meter beast frozen from the inside out in the time it took to pass through its body. The ice sculpture hit the ground and exploded into crystalline shrapnel.
Green flash. On landing. Swampfire.
Hands to the earth — massive thorny vines erupted from the soil, living pythons that seized low-flying Necrocraft and dragged them from the sky.
No pause. No cooldown. No breath.
Cannonbolt — armored sphere smashing through drop pods like a bowling ball through pins. Diamondhead — crystal ground spikes impaling entire infantry formations. Feedback — absorbing cannon fire and returning it amplified.
On the battlefield, it looked like a dozen different heroes fighting simultaneously.
It was one person.
Jake switched between forms at a speed that made the Omnitrix dial blur — each transformation precisely countering the threat in front of him, each lasting exactly as long as it needed to, each flowing into the next without a microsecond of downtime.
Master Control Mode at its absolute peak.
"My god..." Peter hung upside down from a tree, web-shooters forgotten. "Is this... All-Hero Mastery? That's too cool!"
"He alone is an army." T'Challa watched the green flashes rampaging across the battlefield, spear trembling in his grip. Awe — and the particular relief of knowing this person was on his side.
Then — dark red Reality particles exploded in the center of the field.
Jake's summoned vines turned into harmless colored bubbles. Space distorted.
Thanos stepped through a blue portal. Looked at the one-man army with impatience.
"Enough. The juggling is over."
He raised the Gauntlet — but didn't aim at Jake.
He punched the ground.
RRRRUMBLE!!
The earth cracked open. A massive fissure raced toward the Avengers' defensive line — toward the civilians, the wounded, the people Jake had been protecting.
And his other hand aimed at White Vision.
A feint. Attack the ground. Threaten Vision. Force Jake to choose.
"GWEN! Transfer all Moon Base energy to me!!"
"WHAT?! The Omnitrix will OVERLOAD—"
"I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WORRY ABOUT THAT!!"
Jake slammed the emblem on his chest.
The green light that erupted didn't just flash — it towered. A pillar of emerald energy that outshone the battlefield fires, outshone the burning Leviathans, outshone everything.
Inside that light — something was growing.
Past Humungousaur's height. Past Way Big's standard hundred meters. Past anything the Omnitrix had ever produced.
A red-and-white titan — larger than a skyscraper, crest piercing the clouds, cosmic armor blazing with evolved energy patterns that the standard form had never displayed.
Not Way Big.
Ultimate Way Big.
The evolved To'kustar stood on the burning plains of Wakanda, so vast that the Leviathans flying around his head looked like gnats circling a lighthouse.
"Ultimate Way Big..."
Jake's voice — amplified to a volume that shook the continent — rolled across the battlefield like the announcement of something that had just changed the rules of the war.
"...makes his debut."
