The group's journey led them into a living masterpiece—a vast, rolling plain of Floaroma flowers that stretched toward the horizon. The air was thick with a fragrance so sweet it felt like a physical embrace, refreshing the soul and clearing the mind. Nestled among the blooms was a small, quaint cottage, likely the home of the field's caretaker.

"It's absolutely breathtaking!" Dawn exclaimed, her eyes wide as she twirled in the center of the path.

A sudden breeze swept through the valley, sending a blizzard of colorful petals swirling into the air. They danced around the young boy and girl like nature's own confetti.

"It is," Ash replied softly, standing beside her. He watched the way the sunlight caught the indigo of her hair, and for a moment, the "Narrative Architect" was silenced by a purely human thought. "The scenery is beautiful, but honestly, it's just the icing on the cake."

"Eh—?"

Dawn froze. She looked left, then right, realizing they were the only two on the path. The realization hit her like a Super Effective move. Her face flushed a deep, radiant crimson, and she felt a heat spread from her chest to her ears.

"A-Ash! What... what kind of nonsense are you saying all of a sudden?" she stammered, her heart hammering against her ribs.

The boy's calm, powerful presence had been slowly seeping into her heart over the past few weeks, but this direct strike was something else entirely. As an adolescent girl, those budding feelings were fragile, and Ash had just walked right through her defenses.

"Fool," Ash laughed heartily, his eyes crinkling. "I was just giving you a compliment! No need to short-circuit."

"Hmph! You're mean! You did that on purpose!" Dawn pouted, her embarrassment turning into a flurry of harmless, playful punches against his arm. Ash didn't move; he simply stood there, enjoying the warmth of her proximity and the faint, elusive scent of her perfume that mingled with the flowers.

At that moment, the distance between them—the gap between "traveling companions" and something more—shrank significantly.

The Skeptical Mouse and the Lovesick Breeder

Pikachu, who had wisely jumped off Ash's shoulder earlier to avoid being a "third wheel," watched the scene from the safety of a berry bush. He looked at Ash, then at his own paws, and pinched his cheek hard.

"Pika... (Ow!)"

The pain was real. Pikachu stared in disbelief. The blockheaded Ash is actually flirting? This has to be a Zoroark illusion! He knocked on his own head three times until a small bump appeared, but when he looked back, the two were still laughing together in the petals.

"It's not an illusion, Pikachu," Brock whispered, appearing suddenly beside the mouse. He was trying his best to be "transparent" to give the couple space. "He's grown up. It's a miracle, but it's happening."

"Pika-pi?" Pikachu still couldn't wrap his head around the logic.

"Sigh... I wonder when my spring will arrive?" Brock mused, but his lament was cut short by a voice as melodious as a Bellossom's song.

"Gardevoir, the flowers over there need more water..."

Brock's heart didn't just skip a beat; it did a backflip. He clutched his chest, looking at a purple-haired woman tending the garden nearby. "An intellectual Big Sister! It's a gift from heaven! My spring is here!"

"Is Brock having a medical emergency?" Dawn asked, her annoyance with the mood-breaker evident.

"No," Ash said, his gaze shifting past the woman to the Pokémon standing beside her.

It was a Gardevoir. Its elegant, gown-like body was a pristine white, with the inner lining of its skirt a vibrant green. It stood with a graceful, almost regal posture, half of its face obscured by its bobbed hair. As a seasoned fan of the species in his past life, Ash's eyes lit up with professional appreciation.

"Gardevoir..." the Pokémon whispered. Being an Empath-type, it immediately felt the "burning" appreciation emanating from Ash. It felt a strange flutter in its own heart, crossing its slender hands in front of its chest in a rare moment of shyness.

"Ash?" Dawn's voice was sharp. She saw him staring and felt a sudden, sharp pang of jealousy. "Why are you looking so hard at her?"

"Ah... Dawn, I was looking at the Gardevoir," Ash explained quickly. "The species' ability to read emotions is fascinating. I wasn't looking at the trainer."

Dawn pouted for another second, searching his eyes, before sighing with relief. "Hmph. Well, I guess that's okay then." In Sinnoh, the idea of a trainer being "in love" with a Pokémon was just a fairy tale, after all.
