The training session in the meadow had been a masterclass in efficiency. Ash knew that a Snorlax with perfect individual values (6IV) was a powerhouse waiting to happen, but it lacked the versatility to handle the diverse threats of the Sinnoh region.
"Snorlax, the focus is the key! Imagine the heat of the sun in your hand," Ash directed.
Normally, a Snorlax would rather be dreaming of a mountain of Pecha Berries, but Ash had cracked the code: Energy Cubes. For the promise of a premium snack, the gluttonous giant was willing to put in the work.
In less than thirty minutes, Snorlax was successfully igniting its palm. Ash then tapped a golden TM (Technical Machine) disc against Snorlax's forehead, a move that went unnoticed by Dawn and Brock. The data surged into the Pokémon's mind, and by the time the trio was ready to pack up, Snorlax had mastered both Fire Punch and Thunder Punch.
"He learned two elemental moves in one afternoon?" Dawn whispered, her eyes wide. "Is Snorlax a genius, or is Ash just that good of a teacher?"
"It's a bit of both," Brock replied, though even he was taken aback by the speed. "But we need to move. Floaroma Town is only a day away!"
The Terror of the Iron Snake
The journey was interrupted near a rocky outcrop when they found an injured Bidoof. Brock, ever the aspiring doctor, quickly patched the little fellow up. But as the Bidoof began to warn them about something deep in the crags, three familiar, soot-covered figures came screaming over the ridge.
"Save us, Twerp-king!" James wailed, his blue hair standing on end. "It's right behind us!" Meowth shrieked, not even stopping to try and snatch Pikachu.
The ground began to groan and shudder. This wasn't a standard earthquake; it was the rhythmic thumping of a massive weight moving through the earth. Suddenly, the hillside exploded, and a ten-meter-long titan of tempered steel erupted from the dust.
"A wild Steelix!" Brock shouted, shielding his eyes. "And it looks absolutely furious!"
"Snorlax, center stage!" Ash didn't hesitate. He knew this was the perfect live-fire exercise. "Use Defense Curl!"
Snorlax didn't just curl up; it transformed into a sphere of high-density muscle and "Thick Fat." The Steelix roared, its crimson eyes locking onto the intruder. It opened its massive maw, and a dark purple sphere of energy began to condense—a Hyper Beam.
"Rollout!" Ash commanded.
Snorlax began to spin, the earth cracking under its multi-ton rotation. Steelix fired the beam, a pillar of destructive energy that tore a furrow through the grass.
"Now, Bounce!"
Just as the beam was about to connect, the "Snorlax-ball" hit a deliberate uneven patch of earth. Utilizing its incredible elasticity, Snorlax didn't just roll; it vaulted into the air like a launched cannonball. It bypassed the energy beam entirely, soaring high above the battlefield.
"Gravity is on our side! Fall!"
Snorlax descended from the clouds like a falling moon. The sheer kinetic energy of 460 kilograms falling from that height, combined with the momentum of the Bounce, was astronomical.
CRUNCH.
Snorlax's belly slammed directly onto Steelix's head. The Iron Snake didn't even have time to hiss before its skull was driven nearly two meters into the bedrock. A massive cloud of dust billowed out, and the shockwave sent Ash, Dawn, and Brock tumbling backward.
When the dust settled, Snorlax was sitting comfortably on top of the hole, looking quite pleased with itself.
"Ash..." Dawn stammered, looking at the Steelix tail twitching feebly from the crater. "It... it's not 'dead,' right?"
Ash and Brock didn't wait to answer. They rushed toward the crater, Ash frantically recalling Snorlax so they could begin emergency first aid on the critically flattened Steelix.
