The training chamber buzzed with renewed energy as the young ones reunited after a month of separation.
Ruo stood taller, blue lightning crackling faintly around his fingertips, steady, controlled, five times stronger than before.
Kent radiated golden light, his dragon blood singing in his veins.
Mira and Selene sat together, their bond palpable, their powers deepened.
Alya stood apart, nine ghostly fox tails shimmering behind her, fully manifested now, a mark of her Kitsune heritage.
Finny arrived last, gravity bending subtly around him.
Sage Cedric: observing them all, "You've grown. All of you."
Saint Serene: "The question is, how much?"
Sage Veyron: "Share your stories. We would hear what you've learned."
The young ones exchanged glances.
Ruo: "It was... a lot."
Mira: "We discovered things we never expected."
Kent: "About ourselves. About our parents. About the war."
Selene: "About what really happened nine years ago."
The ones grew still.
Sage Cedric: "The war with the King of Evil?"
Alya: "Yes. And the sacrifice that ended it."
One month earlier...
Finny stood in the gravity shop, sweat dripping down his face. Before him, Kentaro Miura, the old shopkeeper, watched with knowing eyes.
Finny: "I can feel. Rule and Gravity. They're both there."
Kentaro Miura: "Then use them. Together."
Finny closed his eyes. Reached deep.
Rule Path activated. Gravity Path activated.
They clashed.
Finny screamed.
Blood erupted from his mouth. Tears of blood streamed from his eyes. Blood trickled from his nose and tears. He collapsed to his knees, body convulsing.
Kentaro Miura: rushing to his side, "Stop! Stop now!"
Finny released the paths, gasping, trembling.
Kentaro Miura: "You cannot use them together. They contradict each other. Rule imposes order. Gravity bends rules. They will tear you apart."
Finny: weakly, "Then what do I do?"
Kentaro Miura: "Choose. One primary path. The other secondary, used separately, never together. And even then, backlash is possible."
Finny lay on the ground, staring at the ceiling.
Finny: "Gravity. I choose Gravity."
Kentaro Miura: nodding, "Wise choice."
He helped Finny sit up.
Finny: "You knew this would happen?"
Kentaro Miura: "I suspected. I've seen it before."
Finny: "When?"
Kentaro Miura: "Nine years ago. During the war with the King of Evil."
Finny: "You fought in that war?"
Kentaro Miura: "I survived it. Many didn't."
Finny: "What happened?"
Kentaro Miura: "We fought the mastermind behind Malakor. Behind the King of Evil. We won, but at a great cost. Sacrifices were made. Lives were lost."
Finny: "Who was the mastermind?"
Kentaro Miura: shaking his head, "That's not for me to tell. When the time is right, you'll know."
One month earlier...
Mira and Selene sat on the Mountain of Serenity, its peace wrapping around them.
Then, two figures appeared.
Not physical. Wills. Ghostly presences that shimmered in the mountain mist.
Mira: gasping, "Who are you?"
First Will: "We are your parents."
Selene: standing, "Our parents died on nine years ago."
Second Will: "We did. In the war against the King of Evil."
Mira: tears forming, "You... you're really here?"
First Will: "We made an arrangement. At the Pyramid of the Desert. Our wills remain to guide you."
Selene: "Guide us where?"
Second Will: "To the treasure. The legacy your parents and countless others left behind. It will benefit the future ruler of this kingless world."
Mira: "Future ruler?"
First Will: "The one who will wear the crown. Sit on the throne. Lead this world to freedom."
Selene: "But you died. Why?"
Second Will: "For freedom. For you. For everyone."
First Will: "We won, but the cost was everything. Now you must help the Mysterious One, the savior of World Seventeen."
Mira: "He's our teacher."
Second Will: smiling, "We know. He chose well."
They began to fade.
Mira: "Wait! Don't go!"
First Will: "We're always with you. In your hearts. In your power. In your choices."
They vanished.
Mira and Selene held each other, weeping.
One month earlier...
Kent stood in the Valley, echoes swirling around him.
"Dragon child..."
"Son of heroes..."
"Your parents died fighting..."
Kent: "Show me."
The echoes obeyed.
He saw them, his mother, his father, fighting in the war against the King of Evil. Fire. Blood. Sacrifice.
They fell.
But they fell fighting.
Kent: whispering, "They died for this world."
"They died for you."
Kent: "The King of Evil?"
"Escaped. With help. From the Illimitable Court."
Kent: fists clenching, "They helped him escape?"
"They did. They always do."
Kent: "I'll make them pay."
"Your parents would want you to live. Not revenge. Purpose."
Kent: "What purpose?"
"You'll find it. With her."
An image of Selene appeared in the mist.
Kent: "Selene?"
"Your choice. Your future."
One month earlier...
Ruo stood before Akira Sato, the Mysterious Person's first student.
Ruo: "My family had no powers. Thirty-three generations of nothing. Why did they fought in the war?"
Akira: "Because they believed in freedom."
Ruo: "But they couldn't fight. They had no cores, no paths..."
Akira: "They fought with what they had. Their bodies. Their wills. Their hearts."
Ruo: tears forming, "They died for nothing?"
Akira: "They died for everything. For you. For this world. For the chance that one day, someone from their bloodline would rise."
Ruo: "But I'm the weakest. I have nothing."
Akira: "You have their blood. Their courage. Their sacrifice." He paused. "Your parents were true freedom fighters. They didn't need powers to be heroes."
Ruo fell to his knees.
Ruo: "I never knew them."
Akira: "You carry them. Every moment. Every choice. That's enough."
One month earlier...
Alya stood in the mist, the Empress beside her.
Alya: "My parents died in the war too, didn't they?"
Empress: "They did."
Alya: "Were they freedom fighters? Like the others?"
Empress: "You carry their legacy. Their fox blood. Their courage. Their love."
Alya: "Is that why he chose me?"
Empress: "He chose you because you survived. Because you reminded him of himself. Because you were worth choosing."
Alya: "Big sis..."
Empress: embracing her, "You're not alone, little sister. You never were."
The young ones finished their stories.
The chamber was silent.
Then, the shadows deepened.
The Mysterious Person stepped out of darkness.
But he wasn't alone.
Two figures emerged behind him.
The first was a girl with cat ears and a graceful tail, Kanade. Her eyes held kindness, but beneath them lurked the promise of absolute loyalty.
The second was a girl with red scales along her arms and fierce eyes, Tania. Her presence radiated dragon pride and barely contained aggression.
Mysterious Person: "These are your seniors. My second and third students."
Kanade: bowing, "I am Kanade. Cat spirit tribe. Upper Empress stage."
Tania: crossing her arms, "Tania. Red Dragonman. Upper Empress stage."
Alya: surprised, "I have seniors? You never told me."
Mysterious Person: "You are my fourth student."
Kanade: looking at Alya warmly, "We've heard about you. The fox girl."
Tania: "You'd better be as strong as they say."
Alya: meeting her gaze, "I am."
Tania: almost smiling, "Good."
Mira: "Wait, fourth student? How many are there?"
Mysterious Person: "Enough."
Sage Cedric: "Kanade. Tell us about yourself."
Kanade: "I have four cores. First is Cat Inheritance. Immense strength and speed, expert combatant, enhanced senses, high physical resistance."
Saint Serene: "Impressive."
Kanade: "Second is Magic. It overcomes my magic vulnerability."
Sage Veyron: "Wise. Every cat spirit's weakness."
Kanade: "Third is Poison and Paralysis Resistance Enhancement. It removes limitations from status ailments."
Malakor: "Thorough."
Kanade: "Fourth is Loyalty. To him." She looked at the Mysterious Person. "I would kill anyone for him. I would die for him. Without hesitation."
Ruo: quietly, "That's... absolute."
Kanade: "That's my choice."
Tania: "My turn."
She stepped forward, red scales glinting.
Tania: "First core: Red Dragon Inheritance. Strength, fire, pride."
Kent: "Another dragon-blooded?"
Tania: glancing at him, "Pure dragon. Not diluted like yours."
Kent: bristling, "Hey..."
Tania: smirking, "Relax. You're still strong. For a half-blood."
Mysterious Person: "Tania."
Tania: immediately softening, "Sorry teacher."
Selene: "Teacher?"
Tania: "He trained me. Like he trains you."
Mira: "What are your other cores?"
Tania: "Second is Emotion control. It manages my aggression and dragon pride."
Selene: "Useful."
Tania: "Third is phantom. It overcomes my weakness of being outnumbered."
Finny: "Phantom path? Rare."
Tania: "Fourth is Skill Modification. I can modify my killer moves."
Ruo: "That's terrifying."
Tania: grinning, "I know."
Sage Cedric: "Did you also lose parents in the war?"
Kanade: nodding, "My clan was nearly wiped out. I survived because he found me."
Tania: "Same. My parents died fighting the King of Evil. I was alone until he came."
Alya: softly, "We all lost someone."
Mira: "Our parents' wills spoke to us on the mountain."
Selene: "They left something. At the Pyramid."
Kent: "My parents died fighting too. The King of Evil escaped with help from the Court."
Ruo: "My family had no powers. Thirty-three generations of nothing. But they fought anyway. They died for freedom."
Kanade: "True freedom fighters."
Tania: "The best kind."
The Mysterious Person stepped forward.
Mysterious Person: "I gathered you all for one reason."
They listened.
Mysterious Person: "Your parents fought for this world. They died for it. They dreamed of freedom, and paid for it with their lives."
Silence.
Mysterious Person: "Now this world has no ruler. They wanted me to wear the crown. To sit on the throne."
He looked at them.
Mysterious Person: "I refused."
Ruo: "Why?"
Mysterious Person: "Because I am not meant to rule. I am meant to prepare."
Kent: "Prepare who?"
Mysterious Person: "You."
He gestured to all of them, Ruo, Kent, Mira, Selene, Alya, Finny, Kanade, Tania.
Mysterious Person: "The throne sits empty in the hall where you first met me. But it's not for me. It's for one of you."
Alya: "One of us?"
Mysterious Person: "The future ruler of this kingless world."
Mysterious Person: "Your parents left something at the Pyramid of the Desert. A treasure. A legacy. It will benefit the one who claims it."
Mira: "What kind of treasure?"
Mysterious Person: "I don't know. But it's yours by right."
He looked at them all.
Mysterious Person: "You will go to the Pyramid. Sage Cedric, Sage Veyron, Lady Lyra, and Malakor will accompany you."
Selene: "You're not coming?"
Mysterious Person: "I have tasks. I will be late. But I will join you when I can. My clone. Akira Sato. Kentaro Miura. They await you there."
Ruo: "What about the treasure?"
Mysterious Person: "You'll discover it together."
He turned to leave.
Alya: "Teacher..."
Mysterious Person: pausing.
Alya: "Thank you. For everything."
He didn't respond.
But for a moment, just a moment, his eyes seemed softer.
Then he vanished.
The group gathered at the World Tree's base.
Sage Cedric: "The Pyramid of the Desert. The Fifth Wonder."
Saint Serene: "I've heard stories, but never seen it."
Sage Veyron: "Today, we will."
Malakor: "Finally. Something interesting."
Ruo: looking at Mira, "Together?"
Mira: smiling, "Together."
Kent: glancing at Selene, "Ready?"
Selene: "Always."
Alya: standing with Kanade and Tania, "Seniors. Let's see what you can do."
Kanade: smiling warmly, "Let's see what you can do, little sister."
Tania: grinning, "Try to keep up."
Finny: "I'll bring the gravity."
They laughed.
The journey began.
While the young ones journeyed toward the Pyramid, the Mysterious Person traveled elsewhere.
Not World Seventeen. Not World Two. Not any world.
A different dimension. A realm between realms.
The realm of the Judgement Board.
It hung in the void, massive, ancient, covered in names that pulsed with light. Each name is a bounty. Each bounty a life marked for hunting.
The Mysterious Person stood before it.
Board: "You return."
Mysterious Person: "I have questions."
Board: "Ask."
Mysterious Person: "Who made you?"
The Board was silent for a long moment.
Board: "The First Regulator."
Mysterious Person: "The one who was assassinated."
board: "Yes. They created me to track those who would threaten balance. After their death, I was... claimed. By those who killed them."
Mysterious Person: "The ones who came together for the first time in existence. The ones who still hunt Regulators today."
Board: "You know much."
Mysterious Person: "I know enough."
He stepped closer.
Mysterious Person: "The Regulator is dead. You are ownerless."
Board: "I am."
Mysterious Person: "Then you belong to me now."
The Board pulsed, alarm, confusion, fear.
Board: "You cannot..."
Mysterious Person: "I am the Protector of the Regulators. The current one lives because of me. Their predecessors died because of those who control you."
He raised his hands.
Board: "If you do this, you will pay a huge price!"
Mysterious Person: "I always pay."
His hand touched the Board.
The Board screamed.
Light exploded outward. Names flickered, vanished, reformed. The very fabric of the Judgement Board shifted, changed, freed.
Mysterious Person: "Show me the real board. The true bounties. Not the lies they imposed."
The Board's surface rippled.
Names changed.
