Return to the World Tree.
The World Tree loomed ahead, ancient and welcoming.
Sage Cedric: waiting at the entrance, "Welcome back. Did you enjoy the festival?"
Mira: "It was wonderful."
Selene: "But it's good to be home."
Saint Serene: "Home is where you grow."
Sage Veyron: "And where challenges await."
Kent: "What challenges?"
Sage Veyron: "That's for him to explain."
The shadows deepened.
The Mysterious Person stepped out of darkness.
Mysterious Person: "You've rested. Now you train. Separately."
Ruo: "Separately?"
Mysterious Person: "Each of you has a path. Each path requires different training."
He looked at Kent.
Mysterious Person: "Kent. You will go to the Valley of Echoes. The whispers there will teach you what I cannot."
Kent: "Alone?"
He looked at Mira and Selene.
Mysterious Person: "Mira. Selene. Return to the Mountain of Serenity. Your paths, Witch and Weapon Master, require its peace."
Mira: "Together?"
Mysterious Person: "Together. Your bond strengthens you."
He looked at Alya.
Mysterious Person: "Alya. The Invisible Land awaits. The Empress will train you there."
Alya: "Big sis?"
Mysterious Person: "She is waiting."
He looked at Finny.
Mysterious Person: "Finny. Return to the gravity shop. The shopkeeper will continue your training."
Finny: "He knows about you. He called you the King of Darkness."
Mysterious Person: "He knows enough. Trust him."
Finally, he looked at Ruo.
Mysterious Person: "Ruo. You will go to the Palace in the Sky."
Ruo: "The Sixth Wonder?"
Mysterious Person: "Yes. My first student will train you there."
Ruo: "Your first student? I thought Alya was..."
Mysterious Person: "Alya is my fourth student. My first is different."
Ruo: "What's his name?"
Mysterious Person: "Akira Sato. He will explain what you need to know."
Ruo: "Will Mira know where I am?"
Mysterious Person: "No."
Ruo: "Why?"
mysterious Person: meeting his eyes, "Because your sacrifice weighs on you. Because you worry about what you'll lose. Akira will help you face that. But this journey is yours alone."
Ruo: "I understand."
Mysterious Person: "One more thing. You will see things in the Palace. Things you might not understand. Do not speak of them to anyone, not even Mira."
Ruo: "What kind of things?"
Mysterious Person: "You'll know when you see them."
The Mysterious Person turned to the ancient beings.
Mysterious Person: "Sage Cedric. Saint Serene. Sage Veyron. Malakor. You will remain here and train. Something dangerous is coming. You must be ready."
Sage Cedric: "What kind of danger?"
Mysterious Person: "The King of Evil has reached the Upper Great Grandmaster. His world now ranks 108. The Illimitable Court supports him."
Malakor: "He grows stronger."
Mysterious Person: "Yes. And when he's ready, he'll come."
Saint Serene: "We'll be ready."
Sage Veyron: "We always are."
One by one, they left.
Kent walked toward the Valley of Echoes, his golden light flickering in the twilight.
Mira and Selene climbed the Mountain of Serenity together, hands linked.
Alya vanished into the Invisible Land, called by the Empress.
Finny returned to Atlantis, to the gravity shop and its mysterious keeper.
Ruo soared toward the Palace in the Sky, carried by winds the Mysterious Person summoned.
The World Tree grew quiet.
King Magnus Valdris approached the Mysterious Person.
King Magnus: "brother. I must return to my world."
Mysterious Person: "I know. Tasks pile up. Duties. Call."
King Magnus: "You understand?"
Mysterious Person: "I chose you. I understand you."
King Magnus: "Will you be alright without me?"
Mysterious Person: "I have a Rennette. I have the young ones. I have my Empress."
King Magnus: "And your brother?"
Mysterious Person: "He has his own path."
King Magnus: "Protect him. He's too kind for this world."
Mysterious Person: "I know. That's why I assigned Rennette to watch him."
King Magnus: surprised, "You did?"
Mysterious Person: "His heart is pure. People will take advantage. Rennette will guard him."
King Magnus: "And you?"
Mysterious Person: "I guard everyone else."
King Magnus: "Same thing?"
Mysterious Person: "Same thing."
They clasped hands.
King Magnus: "I'll return when I can."
Mysterious Person: "I know."
King Magnys vanished.
Monarch Long approached next.
Monarch Long: "The Sovereign Omniverse summons me. The Supreme Head wants a report."
Mysterious Person: "Go. Represent us well."
Monarch Long: "Will Kent be alright? His dragon blood..."
Mysterious Person: "The Valley will awaken it fully. He'll return stronger."
Monarch Long: "And the others?"
Mysterious Person: "They'll return changed. All of them."
Monarch Long: "You see the big picture, don't you? Things we can't see."
Mysterious Person: "I try."
Monarch Long: "Is it good? Or bad? For World Seventeen?"
Mysterious Person: "That depends on choices. Theirs. Mine. Yours."
Monarch Long: "I hope it's good."
Mysterious Person: "Hope is not a strategy."
Monarch Long: "No. But it's a start."
He vanished.
Alone now, the Mysterious Person stood in the void.
Mysterious Person: (to himself) "Out of eight pathways, I've used five on Nihil. Three remain."
He considered his clone, handsome, gray-haired, gray-eyed, residing in the Palace in the Sky.
Mysterious Person: "He must become the strongest being in World Seventeen. Then he can enter the Pyramid with Alya. Obtain the treasure for them."
Rennette Keth appeared beside him.
Rennette Keth: "You summoned me?"
Mysterious Person: "I have a task for you. Protect my brother."
Rennette Keth: "The kind one?"
Mysterious Person: "Yes. His heart is pure. Too pure. People will use him."
Rennette Keth: "And you want me to stop them?"
Mysterious Person: "I want you to watch him. Guide him. Protect him from those who would take advantage."
Rennette Keth: "And if I fail?"
Mysterious Person: "You won't."
Rennette Keth: "You trust me?"
Mysterious Person: "I chose you."
Rennette Keth: "Same thing?"
Mysterious Person: "Same thing."
Rennette Keth: "Your brother is kind. You're... not."
Mysterious Person: "I am what I chose to be."
Rennette Keth: "He would sacrifice himself for others."
Mysterious Person: "I would sacrifice everyone for my goal."
Rennette Keth: "Two brothers. Different philosophies."
Mysterious Person: "He is pure. I am practical."
Rennette keth: "Which is better?"
Mysterious Person: "Neither. Both have their place."
Rennette Keth: "And their cost."
Mysterious Person: "Everything has a cost."
A shadow flickered, the spy, returning.
Shadow: "Master. The Third General continues investigating. They still don't understand how Sage Cedric survived."
Mysterious Person: "Let them wonder."
Shadow: "They suspect you saved him. Like you saved the original king and queen of the false gods."
Mysterious Person: "They suspect correctly."
Shadow: "Should I confirm?"
Mysterious Person: "No. Let them waste time on theories."
Shadow: "understand."
The shadow vanished.
The Mysterious Person stood alone, contemplating.
Mysterious Person: (to himself) "They see pieces. I see the whole board."
He thought of the King of Evil, rising with the Court's help.
He thought of his clone, growing in the Palace.
He thought of his his brother, too kind for this world.
He thought of his Empress, who would rule the omniverse.
Mysterious Person: "Is it good? Is it bad? For World Seventeen?"
He had no answer.
Only choices.
Mysterious Person: "Enough."
The word echoed through the void. Everything froze, not by command, but by pressure. Sound, rule, communication, and psychology paths combined into one word.
mysterious Person: "Stop."
Another word. Another technique. Same principle, different application.
Mysterious Person: "They don't need to see these. not yet."
Kent stood alone in the Valley of Echoes.
Whispers surrounded him, voices of the past, present, and future.
"Dragon child..."
"Golden light..."
"Chosen..."
He saw visions of battles, victories, losses.
And he saw her.
Selene.
Standing beside him. Always.
Kent: (to the echoes) "Is she part of my future?"
The echoes whispered.
"She is your choice."
Mira and Selene sat together on the Mountain of Serenity, its peace seeping into their souls.
Mira: "I miss him."
Selene: "Ruo?"
Mira: nodding, "He's alone in the Palace. I don't even know what he's doing."
Selene: "He's training. Like us."
Mira: "But apart. We've never been apart."
Selene: "It won't be forever."
Mira: "How do you know?"
Selene: smiling, "Because he chose you. And you chose him. That doesn't end."
Mira: "You and Kent?"
Selene: "We're finding our way."
Mira: "Together?"
Selene: "Always."
They sat in comfortable silence, the mountain's peace wrapping around them.
Alya stood in the mist, the Empress beside her.
Empress: "Your fox inheritance is awakening. Feel it."
Alya closed her eyes. Behind her, ghostly fox tails shimmered, nine of them, barely visible.
Empress: "Nine tails. The mark of a true Kitsune."
Alya: "I have nine tails?"
Empress: "Potential. You must earn them."
Alya: "How?"
Empress: "Growth. Choice. Sacrifice."
Alya: "Like him."
Empress: "Like him."
Alya: "And you?"
Empress: smiling, "And me."
Finny stood in the gravity shop, the old shopkeeper watching him.
Shopkeeper: "Gravity bends rules. It doesn't break them, it rewrites them."
Finny: "Rewrite how?"
Shopkeeper: "You create new rules. Temporary ones. In your space, your gravity, your rules."
Finny: "That's... powerful."
Shopkeeper: "Dangerous. use wisely."
Finny: "The King of Darkness, he trusts you?"
Shopkeeper: "he trusts that I know gravity. Nothing more."
Finny: "Is that enough?"
Shopkeeper: smiling, "For gravity? Yes."
Ruo landed in the Palace in the Sky, a floating structure of crystal and light, invisible to most, breathtaking to hold.
A figure awaited him.
Akira Sato. The Mysterious Person's first student.
He was tall, lean, with sharp features and eyes that held secrets. His presence radiated calm confidence.
Akira: "Ruo Kotaro. I've been expecting you."
Ruo: "You're his first student?"
Akira: "I am. Though 'student' is a generous term. He created me, trained me, set me here."
Ruo: "Creating you?"
Akira: "I am not entirely human. Parts of me were... assembled."
Ruo: "Like Nihil Zhou?"
Akira: startled, "You know about Nihil?"
Ruo: "He mentioned him. A clone in the Palace."
Akira: "Nihil is different. He is pure creation. I am... modification."
Ruo: "I don't understand."
Akira: "You don't need to understand. You need to train."
He gestured, and the Palace shifted around them, walls becoming training grounds, ceilings opening to stars.
Akira: "Your sacrifice weighs on you. Your curse drains your luck. You fear losing someone you love."
Ruo: "How do you know?"
Akira: "because I carry similar weight. All his students do."
Ruo: "What do I do?"
Akira: "You face it. You accept it. And you train until it doesn't matter anymore."
Days passed.
Kent meditated in the Valley, echoes whispering truths.
Mira and Selene practiced on the Mountain, Mira's witchcraft weaving through the air, Selene's weapon shifting forms.
Flash back. Before they went to the festival at Atlantis.
Mysterious Person gave Mira a wand made of a branch of the World Tree. He also made a shape shifting weapon from the wood of the world Tree and gave it to Selene which is indestructible. He told her that in the future he would create a better weapon for her from better materials.
Back to the present.
Alya ran through the Invisible land, nine ghostly tails streaming behind her.
Finny bent gravity in the shop, rewriting rules moment by moment.
Ruo fought Akira in the Palace, blue lightning crackling, curse weighing heavy.
They grew.
They changed.
They prepared.
In the void, the Mysterious Person watched them all.
His paths glowed within him, more than twenty now, each contributing to his vision.
Mysterious Person: (to himself) "They grow. They change. They become."
He thought of the King of Evil, rising in rank 108.
He thought of the Illimitable court, still investigating.
He thought of his clone, waiting in the Palace.
He thought of his Empress, dreaming of omniverse.
Mysterious Person: "The big picture. They see pieces. I see the whole."
He didn't know if it was good or bad.
Only that it is necessary.
A month passed.
The young ones returned to the World Tree, one by one.
Kent emerged from the Valley, golden light blazing brighter than ever. His dragon blood sang in his veins.
Mira and Selene descended from the Mountain, their bond stronger, their powers deeper.
Alya stepped out of the Invisible Land, nine tails fully manifested. her eyes hold ancient wisdom.
Finny arrived from Atlantis, gravity bending around him like a second skin.
Ruo descended from the Palace in the Sky, his blue lightning steady, his curse accepted.
They gathered in the training chamber.
Far away, in World 108, the King of Evil smiled.
His blood and Bone Path pulsed with power.
King of Evil: "Soon. Very soon."
In the Illimitable Court, the Third General continued his investigation.
Third General: "How did he survive? How did they all survive?"
