Chapter 27 - Russian Roulette

Alex looked around and saw that Anthony had disappeared, only a trail of blood remaining.

"Anthony?! Tch, this is going to be harder than I expected" Alex said, calmly putting Ana next to a wall and heading in the direction of the blood trail.

Meanwhile, the slot machine game had begun.

"You may go first" Henry said, while bowing down and extending his arm towards the slot machine.

Ronx didn't say anything and went forward but was slightly confused.

"This...slot machine seems different..." Ronx said, immediately glancing at Henry with a suspicious gaze.

"My deepest and sincerest apologies" Henry said, bowing down once again. "I haven't explained it to you but all of the games here are different from the actual casinos. For this game, you have to pull the lever and get three '7'."

Ronx looked at him for a moment and then turned around, pulling the lever.

Slowly, numbers started to appear and disappear for a small moment, until, after a few seconds, the machine stopped, landing on "7 7 1".

"How unfortunate, you were close but it seems that luck isn't on your side" Henry said with a smirk, approaching the slot machine.

Henry then pulled the level and the numbers started to appear and disappear once again, landing on "7 7 7" after a few seconds. He had won.

"What?! You cheated! You definitely cheated!" Ronx yelled, pointing to Henry.

Henry got close and leaned in, whispering in his ear. "It isn't cheating if you don't get caught."

Ronx clenched his teeth and yelled, "You bastard!!" And was about to land a punch but the punch completely went through him, just like Billie Fletcher's ability.

"I have already mentioned it. In this realm, fighting doesn't exist. You cannot win against me with your strength. The only way to win is through intelligence. Which you clearly do not have" Henry said, opening his arms and celebrating his victory.

Suddenly, all of the people in the casino turned into zombies, their skin turning into in a grayish color. Their eyes and mouth started to heavily and rapidly bleed and they started to scream like crazy.

They started to climb onto boards and everything in the casino, some even started to throw chairs at random directions. However, all of them ended in one place.

All of them surrounded Ronx and Ken, saliva dripping from their mouths, clearly hungry for human flesh.

"Now that you have lost, you will pay with your lives" Henry said, calmly sitting on a chair.

However, before the zombies could attack, Ken stepped in, approaching Henry.

Instead of trembling and sweating, he had a serious and determined face on, his fists clenched.

"Wait. I haven't bet on my life yet, meaning you will have to play a game with me" Ken said, not smiling or trembling.

Henry stopped smiling for a moment but then returned to his usual smiling face again.

"Very well" Henry said, snapping his fingers, causing the zombies to disappear.

"May I choose the game?" Henry said with a grin, standing up.

"Sure, go ahead" Ken answered, though, he was slightly trembling again.

"Have you perhaps....heard of a game called 'russian roulette'?" Henry said with an evil smirk.

"I-I have" Ken gulped, his determined face disappearing. "But uhm, just tell me the rules just so I know."

"Of course! Russian roulette is a game where we take turns aiming a revolver at our heads and pull the trigger. A revolver has six chambers and you put a single bullet and spin the cylinder, causing the bullet to be in a random chamber, meaning it is a random chance of dying" Henry explained.

Henry took out a revolver and put one bullet in it, spinning it. Henry then approached a table and sat on the chair, putting the revolver in the middle of the table. Ken sat on the opposite chair.

Henry then spinned the revolver, pointing at Ken.

"You may go first."

Ken then took the revolver with trembling and sweaty hands, aiming it directly at his head.

"Please, please, please."

Ken proceeded to pull the trigger but nothing happened, meaning he was safe. He let a large sigh of relief and handed the gun to Henry.

However, unlike, Ken, Henry was perfectly calm. He wasn't trembling or sweating. In fact, he was smiling. He then aimed the revolver at his head and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

But the bullet wasn't in that chamber, meaning the game had to continue.

"An exciting game, isn't it?"

Ken didn't respond and started to pray with trembling hands. Eventually, he pulled the trigger and nothing happened, causing the revolver to be handed to Henry.

"Oh? You are quite lucky, huh?" Henry said, who stopped smiling.

But he still pulled the trigger without hesitation.

As soon as nothing happened, Henry licked the revolver and handed it to Ken.

"You now have a 1/2 chance of dying or in other words, a 50% chance" Henry said, leaning closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"My entire life is miserable. I am a loser in everything I do and I am as ugly as a pig, which made me get bullied for my school life" Ken said with trembling hands, aiming the revolver at his head. "However, despite that all of that, I stayed strong and I never gave up."

Henry listened to this with a bored face, picking his ear.

"Do you know what happened when I stayed strong and never gave up? I got an extremely powerful ability and got into an organization that paid me so much money that I got my parents out of debt and got them retired" Ken said before pulling the trigger.
