Chapter 123 - Pills

"N-No! This is a dream right? No, this has to be!" Tristan said, who suddenly started to laugh. "What kind of dream is this?"

"It's a dream. It's a dream. It's a dream. It's a dream," Tristan said, who started to walk slowly, almost like zombie, towards the kitchen. He looked traumatized, his eyes wide and his hands shaking. "Come on, just wake up already...you must have heard my screams," He said, opening the sink and cleaning his face with water, hoping that it will wake him up.

But once it doesn't and he feels the touch of his skin, the smell, the way his eyes are moving around, the way his brain is working properly, he realizes that this isn't a dream but a reality. An outcome that he didn't desire. "Who...? Who the hell did this?" Tristan said, his voice completely dry. He placed his shaking hands on his mouth and took deep breaths.

"My...child. Sophia...they both are dead," Tristan said, realizing the worst had happened, causing him to suddenly run away from his house and into the open streets, screaming as he run. Though, someone suddenly grabbed him and dragged him to an alleyway.

"I thought you had disappeared for good. Who would have thought that you had started your own family...while I, your best friend was left alone in the dark, waiting for you to come back. Were those women not good enough for you? Or were you simply scared that someone would find out what we did?" Raven said, a slight smirk on his face.

"Y-YOU! STAY AWAY! D-DON'T COME NEAR ME!" Tristan said, screaming and pointing a trembling finger at him, his breathing was sudden and rapid and his face looked traumatized as his eyes were wide and his mouth trembling.

"How cruel of you to put your best friend aside like this? Aren't best friends supposed to comfort each other, especially in times like this?" Raven said with a slight grin, slowly approaching him. "Don't worry...I'll find the killer who hurt your dear wife."

Tristan looked more of an tortured animal than a human, he stood up and grabbed Raven by the collar, pushing him against the wall of the alleyway. "DID YOU KILL HER?! HUH? HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW THAT SHE DIED? YOU FUCKING BASTARD, I SWEAR ON MY LIFE I'LL KILL YOU!"

"My, my. It's good to be energetic but this might be a bit too much for my heart to handle," Raven said, embracing him in a hug. "I am here if you need comfort."

"I saw a man coming out of your house, his clothes were covered in blood, which is why I came to that conclusion," Raven explained, even though his explanation wasn't convincing at all, his voice felt comforting and warm, too warm in fact. "Instead of us fighting, we should be looking for the killer."

Tristan felt strangely at peace despite his wife having been killed. The way Raven had hugged him, the way his voice gave him comfort, it was all too addicting. "I...prepared a few pills for you. It'll help you go through the grief," Raven said, handing the pills to him.

Tristan felt broken, his mind practically wasn't working at this point and now, his best friend with a warm, peaceful and comforting voice, said to take the pills, causing him to reluctantly take the pills, which instantly started to eat his brain. "Ah...more," Tristan said, a feeling of peace and strange warmth flowing through him, it felt as if he was slowly ascending into heaven itself.

"Give me more," Tristan ordered, his eyes already red from the pills.

"Of course. Anything...for you," Raven said, his voice dropping to a whisper, giving him more pills. "These pills slowly destroy your brain until you go absolutely crazy. I knew you wouldn't trust me and wouldn't take them so I killed your wife...for the sole reason of breaking you until you had no choice but to take them," he said, knowing that at this point, Tristan wasn't even listening.

He instantly wanted more pills. "More pills," Tristan said. "Give me more."

"Ah...you want more pills?" Raven repeated, his eyes lingering at a woman passing by. "See that lady there? Drag her here and chop her into pieces. Only then will I give you the pills," Raven said with a evil grin.

Tristan simply nodded and did as he was told. "Amazing," Raven said, satisfied. "Having an alliance with the Red Cross really has it's benefits. I must thank Dr. Gabriel for such an amazing invention."

"Now that you have turned into this, my dear friend, you will follow my every order," Raven said, causing Tristan to nod aggressively, who was currently eating the woman's flesh. "A group of special grades are slowly approaching my mansion in the rotting peninsula. If I die, you will finish the job for me. That is the sole reason for your living."

"Wait for twenty years until those special grades have kids and those kids grow into adults. And then, kill them all. Turn them into masterpieces, turn them into the Mona Lisa. Turn the unfortunate events into a desirable outcome," Raven whispered in Tristan's ear. "And just so you know, the pills give you an ability. Master it so that when the day comes, you can kill every single person who dares to attack you."

"Now," Raven said, about to leave the alleyway. "Even if I die, I will continue to change the world. Oh, I have spoke too much. Farewell, Tristan, I still have a few other people to...help," he said, leaving the alleyway. "I'll help them now so that they'll help me in the future. What goes around, comes around."
