In the X-Men movies, Cyclops mostly plays a supporting role.
In summary, his combat performance is that of a long-range observer. He lacks the visceral impact of Wolverine's punches and slashes, as well as the imposing presence of Magneto controlling tons of metal with a wave of his hand. Inevitably, he feels marginalized.
In fact, as one of the X-Men leaders, his mutant abilities aren't weak.
Or, to put it another way—Visual Shockwave is a variant ability with a very low floor and a very high ceiling.
The first effect of this SR card is called "Unlimited Energy," which simply means this ability is a laser cannon with infinite energy.
Thanks to protection from a special mental field, Visual Shockwave can theoretically be used without limit. Combat endurance can reach infinity.
It sounds wonderful, but...
As someone once said: there are limits to human potential!
The eyes, as important organs for humans to perceive colors, are also one of the most vulnerable parts of the human body—classified as a weakness.
In actual use of Visual Shockwave, Cyclops himself finds it difficult to push his mutant ability to maximum power. He often has to manually turn it off after firing a few rounds.
Prolonged exposure to shockwaves easily leads to excessive eye strain, placing tremendous burden on them.
(Uchiha Itachi: Ah, right, right!)
In response, Jordan decided to challenge his physical limits.
Although his eyes couldn't stop bullets with the naked eye like Superman's biofield, the sheer number of attribute cards he possessed made him countless times stronger than Cyclops—an ordinary mutant.
The difference in basic attributes meant the same ability would produce drastically different effects when placed on two different people.
Every time this comparison comes up, Captain Yamato, who also uses Wood Release, gets subjected to another round of online bullying.
As the ability materialized, Jordan's eyes involuntarily emitted dazzling ruby-colored light. He subconsciously closed them. Psychic power and biomagnetic field simultaneously enhanced his eyes from both mental and physical dimensions.
At the same time, his powerful psychic abilities began taking effect—not only taking over the ruby-colored energy about to burst from his eyes, but also directly altering the internal structure of energy channels through force field control. Equivalent to forcibly seizing control of the switching mechanism.
The red light in Jordan's eyes was completely confined to the exit of the other dimension. Accumulated energy continued rising, yet remained hidden.
This made Jordan look like Superman preparing to launch heat vision. Anyone who looked directly at him would feel a strong sense of mortal threat.
At this point, his "bootleg version" of Superman was one step closer to the official version.
If I use force field shaping...
Thanks to Jordan's strong control, Saitama's apartment escaped disaster.
If this were Cyclops just awakening his mutant abilities, the ceiling would've already been lifted by now.
After experiencing his newfound abilities for a while, he controlled the newly generated special force field in his mind and shut down the interdimensional channel connecting his eyes.
The red light dimmed rapidly until it went out completely.
Because of his versatility, Jordan's mastery of Visual Shockwave far surpassed Cyclops himself—the latter needed special glasses designed by Professor X to fully control his mutant ability.
Jordan could directly adjust shockwave power through force field control: level one was microwave heating, level two was red-eye warning, and level three and above were truly lethal modes.
After familiarizing himself with the new ability, Jordan took out his newly acquired SR character card.
[Fantasy Card: Tracer]
Type: Character Card (Hero) • Rarity: SR
Overwatch member Lena Oxton. Uses pulse pistols, moves via Blink, adjusts status via Rewind
Effect 1—Blink: Instantly dash to target location. Auto-charges once every 3 seconds, max 3 charges
Effect 2—Recall: Returns you to position 3 seconds prior, reloads ammunition, removes negative effects. Long cooldown
Effect 3—Pulse Bomb: Throws short-range bomb that attaches to enemies. Explodes after 1.5 seconds, massive damage at center
Tracer was one of Overwatch's original heroes and one of the most popular... content creators in certain sections after Tifa. Jordan was certainly no stranger to her.
With the addition of Recall, she had a total of four instantaneous dashes—extremely agile, like a battlefield sprite. Her only drawback was that she was too fragile and died easily.
Jordan was quite tempted by Tracer's ability description. His Instant Teleportation required mental energy and had a pre-cast animation, while Tracer's Blink was true instant cast—undoubtedly superior mobility in close-quarters combat.
However, Tracer's image was that of a petite, athletic cute girl. It seemed a little strange for a 1.95-meter-tall muscular man to equip her character card.
Jordan quickly came to his senses.
Ugh, just don't overlay the skin!
I don't expect her water guns to deal damage anyway. Having Blink and Recall abilities is already a huge bonus.
Having completed the most important mental preparation, Jordan's long-vacant character slot finally found a new occupant.
Familiar yet unfamiliar temporal energy flowed into Jordan's body, threatening to pull him into chaotic timeflow.
However, Jordan's body remained completely still. The spacetime properties from Dimensional Travel easily offset the impact.
Character Card "Tracer" equipped!
The habit from character cards made Jordan instinctively reach out, as if something was missing.
Jordan understood and snapped his fingers.
A blue card floated up, materializing into a pair of technologically advanced, deep blue hand cannons that landed in his hands.
The Super Electromagnetic Hand Cannon from Honkai Impact 3rd was surprisingly well-suited for use with the Tracer character card.
Force field shaping: a leather belt holster appeared at Jordan's waist. Two large-caliber hand cannons emitting sky-blue collapsing energy were precisely inserted into the holster as he rotated his fingers.
A new toy that wasn't high-level, but surprisingly easy to use.
Even if I get tired of it, giving it away as a gift is a good option.
