During the phone call, the security manager tried to keep the explanation brief.
"We checked the surveillance footage there and found that the surveillance video server had also been compromised beforehand."
"Then the technical department told us that A-Train's signal had also been there before it stopped moving."
"We felt something was amiss, so we rushed to the abandoned warehouse to check, only to find A-Train's body."
After listening, Edgar was silent for a while. "Have Madelyn prepare the obituary, and also recruit new members. If we don't recruit soon, the Seven will become the Five."
"Please rest assured, the Human Resources and Relations Department has coordinated to expedite the process."
"They've already sent representatives to Iowa to contact Starlight, who ranked first in the preliminary rounds."
"We've also made some progress on the person you asked us to find."
Edgar rubbed his temples. After so long, he'd finally heard some good news today.
"Remember, you can give him anything he wants."
After saying that, he stroked his awakened secretary with one hand and decisively hung up the phone.
The doorbell rang twice. Jordan, with a towel wrapped around his waist, walked out of the bathroom.
X-ray vision activated. Two impeccably dressed men in black suits stood outside the door.
"I don't remember ordering room service."
Jordan opened the door, his gaze scrutinizing them.
The room's lights were mostly blocked by his burly figure. The pair of captivating blue eyes and the towering, angular muscles in the shadows were visually striking.
A suffocating feeling, like having a gun pointed at their foreheads, enveloped them. The two men in black suits forced smiles, barely suppressing their tension.
"Good morning, Mr. Joestar! We are talent scouts from Vought Corporation. You can call me Steve, and this is my partner, Douglas."
"I apologize for coming uninvited so early in the morning. Our technical department has noticed your exceptional talent, which is why we took the liberty of visiting you..."
"Would you like to join the Seven?"
It seems that no matter which world you're in, the way hero organizations recruit people to their homes always follows the same pattern.
"You're pretty quick."
Jordan looked them up and down, which made them instinctively tense up and break out in cold sweat.
Then he turned around and walked inside without a care in the world.
"Come in and talk."
I just beat up Homelander yesterday. Given his personality, it would be good enough if he didn't come seeking revenge. How could he possibly invite me to join the Seven?
That means someone else instructed them.
Now that's interesting.
Incidentally, Jonathan Joestar was the pseudonym that Jordan had Butcher use to register at the hotel lobby.
Anyway, no other members of the Joestar family are coming here, so it's not a big deal to borrow the first JoJo's name for a while.
The two men in black suits exchanged a glance and whispered among themselves when they saw the tall, muscular figure with a broad back and narrow waist.
"If this gentleman were to act in a movie, his female fans would go crazy with joy."
"I think it's not just female fans. Male fans will probably go crazy too."
The two talked amongst themselves as they took shoe covers out of their bags, put them on their leather shoes, and carefully entered the room.
The only intelligence indicated that the man before them was a top-tier superhuman capable of taking on Homelander single-handedly.
This alone was enough to make them keep their attention at maximum the whole time.
"Tell me, gentlemen, what are the benefits of joining the Seven?"
Jordan sat down on the sofa with an air of superiority, displaying the arrogance typical of superhumans.
Sure enough, the two men in black suits were very receptive to this. They naturally took out the documents they carried and began to introduce the benefits and treatment that Vought offered to the Seven.
"...A paid vacation once a year, lasting a month, is a traditional perk for superheroes, and you'll absolutely love it."
"Furthermore, members of the Seven are entitled to the full share of Vought Corporation's annual dividends. The specific percentage will be determined after you sign the contract."
Jordan glanced at the materials one of them handed him, then impatiently tossed them onto the coffee table.
"No makeup, no movies, no interviews, no promotional activities of any kind, and I decide when to go out."
"These conditions aren't unreasonable, are they?"
The two men in black suits looked at each other, but when they recalled their supervisor's instructions before they'd left, they nodded like chickens pecking at rice.
"Of course. We all know that superheroes are a game of capital, and powerful people like you have the right to participate in the rule-making process."
Jordan couldn't help but glance at them again in surprise.
So easy to talk to?
When did Vought Corporation turn into a charitable organization?
"The operations manager had already given me the relevant authorization when I arrived."
"Once you choose to join, you'll be directly responsible to the president and won't be bound by anyone else."
"We can add all the terms you mentioned directly to the contract without affecting any of your other rights."
Jordan crossed his right leg over his left and stroked his chin. "So what's the price?"
"President Edgar hopes to gain your personal friendship. If any unexpected situations arise, he hopes you'll consider prioritizing his side."
So that's it.
It was clear that the men in black suits were very careful with their words and adopted a humble attitude during the negotiations.
This isn't recruiting superheroes. It's clearly the boss hiring a super bodyguard for himself.
"Okay, then it's a deal."
Having established the basic intentions and signed the contract, the two men in black suits breathed a sigh of relief. They hadn't expected the mission to be so much simpler than they'd anticipated.
"Congratulations, Mr. Joestar! From today onwards, you are a new member of the Seven!"
"You should congratulate Mr. Edgar. From now on, his life will be absolutely guaranteed."
The men in black suits smiled awkwardly but politely. "You're right. The president is also very pleased with your joining us."
"Next, there are just a few minor issues. We need you to provide some basic personal information and your bank card number. The sooner we enter this information into Vought's system, the sooner your benefits will be credited to your account."
"Oh, this." Jordan got up and rummaged through the table, quickly finding a brand new driver's license. He tossed it onto the coffee table in front of the two of them. "This is my driver's license that I just got. Please fill in the rest based on the information on it."
The two men in black suits were dumbfounded.
That's it?
Could your driver's license be any more fake?
It must have been rushed out and finished yesterday!
"Rest assured, Mr. Joestar. My partner, Mr. Douglas, is an elite talent in Vought's legal department. He'll handle everything for you. You just need to wait to collect the money!"
"That will be very helpful. Hope we can work together successfully?"
"Of course! Happy cooperation!"
