Chapter 54
"Yang Jian, from another reality."
He casually picked up a comic book from the table—on the open page was a perfect depiction of the scene of him on the balcony just moments ago.
"Looks like I need a privacy ward against peeping."
"No, please don't!" Gwenpool immediately latched onto his arm.
"Take me with you to play, okay? I can help record your adventure stories! I guarantee beautiful art style!"
Yang Jian looked down at this living treasure hanging off his arm and smiled: "Do you usually go off with strangers this casually?"
"No way!" Gwenpool proudly puffed out her chest.
"But you're different! I can feel it—you have the scent of someone who breaks the rules!"
Gwenpool continued clinging to Yang Jian like a koala, her legs swinging back and forth.
"So what superpowers did you actually get? Unlike me—poor little Gwenpool doesn't even have a decent ability!"
She pouted and poked Yang Jian's solid chest muscles with her finger.
Yang Jian looked down at this living treasure hanging off him: "You plan to have our conversation like this?"
"Ah! Sorry, sorry!"
Gwenpool immediately jumped down and began frantically cleaning up the scattered comic books and snack bags on the floor.
Only now did Yang Jian have the chance to properly examine this bizarre room.
The walls were plastered with pages that looked torn straight from comic books.
Iron Man's armor blueprints, close-ups of Captain America's shield, cross-sections of Mjolnir.
There were even a few pages clearly ripped from the Darkhold showing forbidden spells.
"You tore all these down?" Yang Jian lifted a page showing Doctor Strange casting magic.
"Hehe, occupational benefit!" Gwenpool kicked a pile of uniforms under the bed.
"They'll never notice a few missing pages anyway."
She suddenly leaned in close, eyes sparkling: "So how did you cross over? How long have you been here? Why have I never seen a comic dedicated to you?"
Before Yang Jian could answer, Gwenpool barreled on: "The weirdest part is—I only just discovered today that your universe is completely wrong!"
She waved her arms dramatically: "In other universes I can see past and future issues, but yours? I can only see what's happening right now. Flip backward or forward—it's all blank pages!"
"What do you mean?" Yang Jian grew interested.
"Finally cleaned up!"
Gwenpool let out a long breath, dragged Yang Jian to the small table she had cleared amid the comic piles, and sat down.
She propped her chin on her hands and stared at Yang Jian without blinking: "My God, those muscle lines, that jawline—it's even more perfect than Superman in the comics!"
Suddenly she sat bolt upright: "Wait! What did you say your powers were again?"
Yang Jian shrugged: "Didn't you already guess?"
"Oh! Oh! Oh!"
Gwenpool jumped up like she'd been electrocuted: "I just said Superman! You mean you got Superman's powers?!"
She pounced and squeezed Yang Jian's arm: "These muscles are real! Not cosplay!"
Looking at the bouncy, energetic girl in front of him, Yang Jian couldn't help laughing: "That's right—and Silver Age Superman level."
"Aaaah!" Gwenpool let out a piercing scream. "Silver Age Superman! The crazy version who can push galaxies and sneeze away solar systems?!"
She suddenly dropped to her knees and hugged Yang Jian's leg dramatically: "Superman-sama! Grant me superpowers! I want that bug-level 'I reckon' ability!"
Yang Jian helplessly pulled the living treasure back up: "That's hard to say. But first, tell me—what else have you discovered about my universe?"
Gwenpool immediately became serious. She casually tore open a comic panel in mid-air—inside was a real-time view of Yang Jian's villa balcony.
But when she tried to flip the page, both forward and backward were blank.
"See? Just like this."
Gwenpool closed the panel and bounced excitedly: "That's why I was secretly watching you! You're basically a walking mystery!"
Yang Jian nodded thoughtfully. It seemed his transmigration had completely disrupted this universe's timeline.
"So," Gwenpool climbed back up and hung around Yang Jian's neck again, blinking big eyes.
"Can you give me superpowers now? I promise I won't use them for evil! At most I'll just peek at Polaris taking a bath."
Yang Jian laughed: "Granting you superpowers directly isn't possible for now, but I can develop a serum to turn you into a superhuman."
Gwenpool's eyes instantly lit up like light bulbs. She jumped up and planted a loud kiss on Yang Jian's cheek.
"This is my first kiss! If you weren't Superman, I wouldn't have given it away!"
Before Yang Jian could react, she bombarded him with questions: "Is it the Super Soldier Serum? Like Captain America's?"
"Much stronger than that," Yang Jian said, wiping the saliva mark off his face.
"You could easily lift a truck."
"Aaaah! Really?!"
Gwenpool bounced around the room, knocking over several stacks of comics. "Wait—how can you develop a serum? Oh right! Superman has a super brain! That's amazing! Yay yay yay! Gwenpool is finally getting superpowers!"
She suddenly skidded to a stop in front of Yang Jian: "What does super vision feel like? Is it like wearing 8K VR goggles? Super hearing? Wouldn't you get kept awake by the couple next door going at it?"
Yang Jian patiently explained: "Super vision is like… you can adjust focus at will, from microscope to telescope. Super hearing does require practice to control—my brain automatically filters out unimportant sounds."
"What about super strength?"
Gwenpool mimed lifting something heavy: "With that much power, how do you not rip off doorknobs?"
"Super brain precisely controls every muscle's exertion."
Yang Jian smiled and lifted a teacup. His force was so gentle the water surface didn't even ripple.
Gwenpool suddenly clasped her hands together, eyes blinking rapidly: "Please please please! Can you show me heat vision? I've never seen the real thing!"
Yang Jian helplessly shook his head. A faint red glow appeared in his eyes.
He controlled the power carefully—two hair-thin beams of heat vision shot out.
They burned two perfectly symmetrical small holes in the tabletop, edges as clean as laser cutting.
"Wow!" Gwenpool immediately started examining the holes.
"Can this temperature grill meat? Wait—can you use heat vision to curl my hair?"
Before Yang Jian could answer, she pointed at the floating comic books and screamed again.
"Is that a bio-field? Oh my God oh my God! This isn't scientific! I mean—it's too scientific! Can you use that field to float me around the room?"
Yang Jian waved a hand. Gwenpool immediately floated upward, spinning in circles around the room.
She flailed her arms excitedly: "I'm gonna record this and post it on YouTube! Title: Gwenpool Gets Superpowers – Day 1! Wait—where's my phone?"
