Chapter 62
Wanda rose into the air, chaos magic bursting from her body.
"If we can't save this world, then let's destroy it together!"
Echo's hands gathered sonic waves, her expression resolute: "I'd rather die than become one of those monsters!"
The doors of the Sanctum were blasted open. Zombie Captain America led a dense horde of zombie heroes surging inside.
Rotting flesh exposed stark white bones. The once-righteous heroes now had only bloodthirsty instinct left.
Deadpool drew his dual katanas and twisted his hips lewdly.
"Hey Cap~ Want some Deadpool-brand tender meat? Haven't showered in a month, but I guarantee it's extra flavorful!"
"Hungry… so hungry!"
Zombie Captain America's vocal cords were rotted, his voice a hoarse horror: "Don't need to shower to eat!"
Zombie Hawkeye dragged his half-body across the floor.
"Meat… fresh meat!"
Tears shimmered in Wanda's eyes: "Captain, look at yourselves now! Is this what heroes are supposed to be?"
"Monster or not!"
Zombie Captain America grinned with half his mouth rotted away: "We're hungry!!"
With a guttural roar, the zombie horde lunged!
Deadpool opened his arms excitedly: "Come on babies! Let me feel what it's like to be bitten by zombies!"
Yang Jian rolled his eyes and suddenly raised a hand. An invisible bio-field froze every zombie in mid-air.
His eyes flared with blinding red light—like twin miniature suns burning in his sockets.
"Step back."
The next second, apocalyptic heat vision swept out horizontally!
Where the ultra-high-temperature beams passed, the zombie heroes didn't even have time to scream—they vaporized into nothing.
Captain America evaporated. His shield clattered to the floor. Zombie Ant-Man dissolved into gas.
The entire front hall of the Sanctum was scorched crystal-clear. The ground vitrified into glass; the walls were sliced smooth as if by laser.
Wanda and Echo stood frozen in place. Deadpool bounced around excitedly.
"Whoa! That's way more intense than Thanos' snap!"
"They… just disappeared like that?" Wanda asked, voice trembling.
Echo crouched and touched the glassed-over floor with her finger.
"Not even ash left!"
Yang Jian retracted his heat vision and shrugged casually.
"Quick and clean."
Deadpool suddenly jumped onto Yang Jian's back: "Superman! That move was badass! Teach me! I'll be your disciple!"
He started counting on his fingers: "I'll make tea, pour water, give massages, warm your bed!"
Shoo!
Another heat vision blast vaporized Deadpool again.
Wanda stared at the devastated Sanctum, voice shaking: "What now? Are there any survivors left in this universe?"
Yang Jian's eyes glowed faintly. Super vision pierced through every obstacle.
"It's not the worst yet. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier should still have living people."
"Ha! I know where that is!" Deadpool suddenly popped up between them.
"That broken ship still has a few superheroes hiding! Though who knows what they've become now—all because of that bastard Reed!"
He waved his arms dramatically: "Calls himself the smartest brain in the world, but he was the first to infect the whole team!"
Wanda's eyes widened in shock: "Reed Richards deliberately spread the virus? Why?"
Echo couldn't believe it either: "Wasn't he the smartest scientist?"
"Maybe too smart." Yang Jian shrugged.
Only fitting for the god-tier troll, Yang Jian thought—he still didn't fully understand why Reed did it. Maybe his brain was just built differently.
Otherwise, another version of him wouldn't have been tricked into this universe, nearly causing an Ultimate Universe zombie outbreak.
Deadpool started rambling again: "If you ask me, that guy's a megalomaniac! Remember the time he—"
"One more word," Yang Jian's eyes flared red.
"And you'll experience free vaporization service." Wanda took a deep breath and said firmly: "Then let's hurry to the Helicarrier. There might still be people who need help."
Yang Jian nodded, his gaze piercing through the clouds to lock onto the target.
He raised a hand and drew a sparkling golden portal. On the other side was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier hovering high above the city.
"Wait." Wanda stared at the golden ring in surprise.
"That's Kamar-Taj magic? You can do that too?"
"Somewhat." Yang Jian shrugged.
Deadpool immediately leaned toward an invisible camera (despite none existing): "Viewers! Have you ever seen a Superman who can do magic? No? Deadpool exclusive report! This is definitely trending! Magical Superman cross-franchise chaos!"
"Shut up. Get in."
Yang Jian grabbed Deadpool by the collar and tossed him through the portal.
The four stepped through, instantly arriving inside the blood-scented Helicarrier.
The massive floating fortress hovered over the city. The interior was full of battle scars.
Deadpool got up and dusted off his butt: "Whoa, way more exciting than flying coach! By the way…"
He suddenly froze, pointing at a shambling figure not far away: "Uh… are we too late?"
Everyone turned.
The zombified Fantastic Four were dragging a superhero corpse. They slowly lifted their heads, rotten faces twisting into vicious grins.
The Thing (Ben Grimm) raised his decayed rock face in a grotesque smile.
"Wanda, Echo—you here for seconds?"
Wanda fought down nausea: "Did you eat everyone in the base?"
Invisible Woman (Susan Storm) licked her bloodstained lips.
"Tender meat. You won't escape either."
"No time to waste words on them!" Echo was already in combat stance.
Deadpool suddenly poked his head out from behind Yang Jian: "Hey Reed! Heard you turned zombie on purpose? What kind of new performance art is that?"
Zombie Mister Fantastic's neck stretched like rubber, his rotting body lunging toward Deadpool like a snake.
"Fresh flesh!"
Shoo!
A searing heat vision beam sliced through. Reed's head vaporized instantly.
The headless rubber body twitched and collapsed.
The remaining three zombies roared in fury.
Susan immediately activated invisibility, vanishing along with The Thing and Human Torch.
"Fuck! Invisible Woman's cheating!" Deadpool spun in place dramatically.
"We're screwed! We're gonna get eaten by invisible zombies!"
Wanda and Echo stood back-to-back, chaos magic and sonic energy gathering in their hands.
Yang Jian's eyes glowed faintly. Super vision easily tracked the energy signatures of the three invisible figures.
They moved slowly as snails. Yang Jian could slap them dead with one hand.
Shoo! Shoo! Shoo!
Precise heat vision swept across.
A scream accompanied by the smell of burning flesh rang out.
The Thing tried to block with his rocky body, but his heart melted through instantly.
Human Torch tried to ignite his flame powers, but was evaporated by the high-temperature beam.
Wanda nervously looked around: "Did we get them?"
"Definitely got them!"
Deadpool bounced around: "I can smell roasted zombies! A little overcooked, though."
Yang Jian retracted his heat vision: "It's over. There are no living people left here."
His super vision swept the entire Helicarrier—only severed limbs, dried blood, and cold metal skeletons remained.
The once Earth-protecting S.H.I.E.L.D. was now nothing but an empty floating graveyard.
Deadpool suddenly went quiet—rarely serious: "Honestly, this is the most messed-up universe I've ever seen."
Tears shimmered in Wanda's eyes: "Is there really not a single survivor left?"
