Chapter 24 - to a war

Yuna:

I keep looking at Ethan when he was making coffee. He sits infront of my brother, but why didn't he sit infront of me as always?

He keep talking to my brother like yesterday, nothing was happened. I was watching Ethan continuously, but he didn't even look at me for a second.

Luca said," so, Ethan did you get any text or call from, kai?"

Kai was Ethan's left hand. Ethan replied,"yes I got a text from him at night. We should go at 9am. This deal is important to me, i can't loose it."

I said,"where you both are going? Shall I come with you guys?"

Luca said,"no you can't come with us, we just got a small problem. We will fix it and coming back home at night." I nodded.

I keep looking at Ethan he didn't even said a word to me yet.

But suddenly my mind pop up and i said," wait what kind of work are you guys going to do?"

Luca replied,"it's just a business problem we will solve it."

I said," are you sure that it's just a business problem, isn't you both are serious about it?"

Luca said,"no, it's serious".

"What does it made that much hard to handle that person, I can help you with that."

Luca said,"no we are okay".

Ethan stand up and walk upstairs to his room.

I want to know what happened to Ethan yesterday that he stopped talking and stopped looking at me. Did my brother said something very harshly.

Luca too went to his room.

I walk outside, sitting in the pool pool side and put my feet on the pool. Few hours later they both come out.

They were dressed in black and white suit. They look like they are going to a very important event.

"Luca you are going now?" He replied,"yes, I will be back soon. Remember don't come outside and don't open doors for unknown person."

I replied,"okay but when you both will come back?"

Luca said," we will be back at midnight many be 3pm, Ethan it's time to go."

Ethan nodded he walk past me, he didn't even make a eye contact with me.

The elevator door closed behind them with a soft click, but the sound echoed through the silent house like something final.

For a moment, I stood there, staring at the empty hallway.

The air still carried Ethan's faint cologne, warm and familiar, yet something about tonight felt different. Heavy. Unsettling.

I walked toward the window door and pulled the curtain slightly aside. Outside, a black car waited under the dim streetlight.

Luca opened the door for Ethan, both of them moving with calm precision, like men used to danger.

No laughter, no casual conversation — only silence.

The car drove away, disappearing into the darkness.

An uneasy feeling settled in my chest.

"Why did they look like they were going to a war instead of an event?"

I tried to ignore the thought and headed back to my room, but the house felt too quiet.

Every ticking second of the clock sounded louder than before. Luca's warning repeated in my mind.

Don't come outside.

Don't open the door.

I sat on the bed, hugging my knees, wondering what kind of life Luca and Ethan was really living — and what did my brother told Ethan that he couldn't even look at me.

Did my brother trethend him.
