I casually glance towards the eaves ahead and catch sight of Wildbluebell dressed in a wedding outfit matching my color. Taking advantage of the moment when no one is paying attention, she has lifted a corner of her veil at the back of the crowd to secretly peek out —
And our eyes meet. She freezes.
I watch the panic flicker across that small exposed sliver of her face — those bright eyes going wide, the veil trembling slightly between her fingers as she debates whether to drop it and pretend nothing had happened or simply cease to exist on the spot.
She chooses a third option. She slowly, carefully, lowers the veil back down. As if the stillness of it might somehow rewind time.
