The door swings shut behind Grace, and something in my chest lurches toward it.
Go after her, my wolf pleads.
Every part of me wants to—my wolf included. It's a strange feeling; I haven't let her out of my sight since the day I found her. My plan hasn't changed, though. I just hide my intentions to keep my wolf from interfering, or my brothers from meddling like they did last time.
Getting her to trust me—just like her father manipulated everyone, including Eloise—is still the perfect setup before I strike.
But then Vivian appears in the doorway, and I go still.
"There it is," my wolf snarls after a moment. "Your leash."
I've never thought of Vivian as a leash before. I would never treat her that way, knowing she was once Eloise's safe haven. After all, she was the one who revealed Draxler's manipulations to me when she came to report that Eloise was bent on taking her own life...
Vivian's eyes track the direction Grace just walked.
