Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Where Even Champions Are Tested

Trial Valley did not celebrate victories.

It absorbed them.

After Salamence left, the battlefield returned to silence—but the air had changed. The energy flowing through the valley now felt heavier, denser, as if something deeper had taken notice.

Lia could feel it clearly.

"We're being watched again…"

Eren didn't look surprised.

"Of course. Beating—or rather, being acknowledged by—an apex like that puts us on the map."

Charizard stood calmly, its flame now smaller—but far more intense. At Level 69, its presence wasn't overwhelming.

It was inevitable.

Beside it, Aegislash hovered in perfect stillness. At Level 70, it no longer felt like a weapon.

It felt like a ruler waiting to act.

The Valley Opens Further

They moved deeper.

The terrain shifted again.

The cracks in the ground widened into glowing channels of molten energy. Jagged cliffs rose higher on both sides, forming a natural corridor that led into the heart of the valley.

This was no longer the outer region.

The system confirmed it.

[Trial Valley — Inner Region]Recommended Strength: Mid Champion → High Champion

Lia read it slowly.

"We just reached Level 70…"

Eren nodded.

"Which means now we're at the bottom again."

The Pressure Returns

Without warning—

The pressure came back.

Not like the High Elite realm.

Not constant.

Selective.

It fell only on Charizard and Aegislash.

Testing.

Measuring.

Judging whether their recent growth could hold under higher standards.

Charizard lowered its stance slightly.

Its heat cycle tightened further.

Aegislash's shield shifted forward instinctively, blade lowering into a guarded position.

Neither resisted.

Neither struggled.

They simply adapted.

The pressure faded.

For now.

A Different Presence

Then—

Something new appeared.

Not a wild Pokémon.

Not a Champion.

Something in between.

From the far end of the canyon, a figure approached slowly.

A young woman.

Calm expression.

Steady steps.

Beside her walked a tall, elegant Pokémon with flowing white ribbons and a serene gaze.

Gardevoir.

Lia felt it instantly.

This wasn't like the others.

This presence wasn't heavy.

It was deep.

A Quiet Encounter

The woman stopped a short distance away.

Her eyes moved across Charizard… then Aegislash… then Lia.

"You're new to the inner valley," she said softly.

Lia nodded.

"Yes."

The woman tilted her head slightly.

"You're also unusually stable for your level."

Eren spoke calmly.

"They grow fast."

The woman smiled faintly.

"I can see that."

Gardevoir stepped forward slightly, its eyes glowing with a faint psychic light.

Not aggressive.

But… curious.

A Test Without Violence

"I don't want to battle," the woman said.

Lia blinked.

"Then…?"

"I want to see your control."

The air shifted.

Not violently.

But gently.

The ground beneath them began to float—small pieces of stone rising into the air, orbiting slowly around Gardevoir.

Psychic pressure filled the space.

Not crushing.

But overwhelming in a different way.

Lia felt her thoughts slow slightly.

"This is… hard to focus…"

Eren's voice cut through clearly.

"Stay centered. Don't fight it."

Mental Alignment

Charizard reacted first.

Instead of resisting the psychic field, it slowed its movements, reducing unnecessary thought and action. Its heat cycle simplified further, becoming almost instinctual.

Aegislash followed.

Its blade lowered.

Its shield remained steady.

Its presence—

Silent.

Unshaken.

The floating stones around them shifted direction suddenly, moving faster, closer, testing their stability.

Charizard didn't move.

Aegislash didn't react.

They held their ground.

Recognition Without Battle

The pressure stopped.

The stones fell.

The air returned to normal.

Gardevoir stepped back.

The woman nodded once.

"That's enough."

Lia exhaled.

"That felt harder than fighting…"

Eren smiled slightly.

"It was."

A Different Kind of Approval

The system chimed softly.

Charizard — Level Increase:Lv. 69 → Lv. 70

Aegislash — Level Increase:Lv. 70 → Lv. 71

The woman watched the change with mild interest.

"You're progressing well," she said.

Then her gaze sharpened slightly.

"But be careful."

Lia looked at her.

"Of what?"

The woman turned slightly, looking deeper into the valley.

"There are things here that don't test."

Her voice became quieter.

"They decide."

A Warning Given

Gardevoir's presence pulsed once, then faded.

The woman began walking away.

"Try not to meet them too soon," she added without turning back.

Then—

She was gone.

The Next Threshold

Silence returned.

But this time—

It felt heavier.

Charizard stood still, flame steady but focused.

Aegislash hovered beside it, shield slightly raised.

Lia looked ahead.

The canyon stretched deeper.

Darker.

More dangerous.

She swallowed.

"So… what now?"

Eren's answer was simple.

"Now we keep going."

Because in Trial Valley—

Reaching Level 70 wasn't the goal.

It was the entry ticket.

Far ahead—

Something massive shifted.

Something that did not care about recognition.

Something that did not care about survival.

Something that only understood—

Dominance.
