Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: The Ones That Decide

The deeper they went, the quieter Trial Valley became.

Not peaceful.

Empty.

The signs of battle still existed—cracked cliffs, molten scars, shattered terrain—but there were no fresh marks. No movement. No roaming apex Pokémon.

Lia felt it immediately.

"This place… no one stays here."

Eren nodded.

"Because this is where outcomes are decided instantly."

The Absence of Noise

Charizard walked slower now.

Not from exhaustion.

From awareness.

At Level 70, its presence was refined enough to feel the difference in the environment. There were no scattered energy currents here, no wild fluctuations.

Everything was…

Controlled.

Aegislash hovered lower than usual, shield slightly forward.

At Level 71, its instinct had changed. It no longer reacted after threats appeared.

It prepared before they did.

The First Sign

They didn't see it.

They felt it.

A shift in the air.

Not pressure.

Not intent.

Authority.

Lia stopped walking.

"…Eren."

"I know."

Charizard froze.

Aegislash's shield lifted fully.

For the first time since entering Trial Valley—

They did not move forward.

It Appears

From the far end of the canyon—

Something walked into view.

Slow.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

A massive, armored Pokémon with dark steel plating and glowing red eyes.

Each step it took made the ground tremble—not from weight, but from presence.

Tyranitar.

But not like the one from the outside world.

This one felt…

Final.

No Warning. No Test.

It didn't roar.

It didn't circle.

It didn't hesitate.

The moment it saw them—

It acted.

The ground exploded.

A wave of crushing force surged forward, tearing through the canyon like a landslide.

"Move!" Lia shouted instinctively.

Charizard reacted instantly, wings flaring as it leapt sideways.

Aegislash followed, shield angling to deflect debris.

The attack passed—

And erased everything behind them.

Not damaged.

Not broken.

Gone.

Lia's breath caught.

"That… wasn't a test…"

Eren's voice was calm—but sharp.

"No."

"That was a decision."

Immediate Pressure

Tyranitar stepped forward again.

The air thickened.

Gravity itself seemed to increase.

Charizard lowered its stance, heat cycle tightening to maintain structure.

Aegislash's shield pulsed once, absorbing the rising pressure.

But this—

Was different from everything before.

There was no pacing.

No scaling.

No observation.

Only overwhelming force.

Fight or Fall

"We can't match it directly," Lia said quickly.

Eren nodded.

"Then don't."

Charizard moved first.

Not forward.

Around.

Using short bursts of speed, it began circling Tyranitar, avoiding direct confrontation.

Aegislash followed a different path.

It stayed closer.

Watching.

Waiting.

Tyranitar's Domain

Tyranitar slammed one foot into the ground.

The entire canyon shook.

Massive chunks of stone rose into the air—then launched outward like projectiles.

Charizard dodged, weaving between them with precise wing adjustments.

Aegislash blocked what it couldn't avoid, shield absorbing impacts that would have shattered lesser defenses.

The system chimed under pressure.

Charizard — Level Increase:Lv. 70 → Lv. 71

Aegislash — Level Increase:Lv. 71 → Lv. 72

But this time—

The levels didn't feel like enough.

Finding the Pattern

"Watch its movement!" Eren called.

Lia focused.

Tyranitar wasn't random.

Every step.

Every attack.

Followed a pattern of absolute control over terrain.

"It's not chasing us," she realized.

"It's controlling the battlefield."

Eren's eyes sharpened.

"Exactly."

The Counter Strategy

"Charizard—vertical!"

Charizard launched upward.

High.

Higher than before.

Out of Tyranitar's immediate range.

At the same time—

"Aegislash, anchor!"

The shield slammed into the ground.

The blade extended.

Aegislash became a fixed point in the chaos.

When Tyranitar attacked again—

The force split.

Part redirected upward.

Part grounded.

The battlefield destabilized—

But not completely.

The First Opening

For the first time—

Tyranitar paused.

Just for a fraction of a second.

But it was enough.

"Now!" Lia shouted.

Charizard dove.

Flames compressed into a single point along its claws.

Aegislash moved simultaneously—

Blade striking from below.

Two angles.

One moment.

Impact

The attacks connected.

A deep, heavy sound echoed through the canyon.

Tyranitar shifted.

Not much.

But enough to prove—

It could be affected.

The Truth Revealed

Tyranitar looked at them again.

This time—

Differently.

Not dismissive.

Not immediate.

Evaluating.

Then—

It stepped back.

Just one step.

The pressure lifted slightly.

Lia's eyes widened.

"It stopped…?"

Eren exhaled slowly.

"No."

"It decided we're worth more than one move."

Survival Earned

Tyranitar turned.

Without another attack.

Without another glance.

And walked deeper into the canyon.

Each step shaking the ground—

Until it disappeared completely.

Aftermath

Silence returned.

But this time—

It felt earned.

Charizard stood still, breathing controlled despite the intensity.

Aegislash hovered beside it, shield calm but ready.

The system chimed.

Charizard — Level Increase:Lv. 71 → Lv. 72

Aegislash — Level Increase:Lv. 72 → Lv. 73

Understanding the Inner Valley

Lia sat down slowly on a nearby rock.

"…We didn't win."

Eren shook his head.

"No."

She looked toward where Tyranitar had vanished.

"We just… survived."

Eren nodded.

"And in this part of the valley—"

"That's the only victory that matters."

Far deeper within Trial Valley—

Stronger presences stirred.

Ones that would not step back.

Ones that would not evaluate.

Ones that would simply—

End things.
