Chapter 9 - Nine

"U-uncle?' Misha stuttered in surprise. His body kept trembling from severe hunger and thirst. His head was dizzy and his body weak.

Nuit wheeled close to the boy. He noticed his sunken cheeks and eyes.

'He must be hungry,' Nuit thought. Hunger had been a weapon used against him in the Bratva clan. And seeing a child this hungry to the point of developing sunken cheeks breaks his cold heart.

"You look hungry,' Nuit smiled softly. He turned the wheelchair and wheeled towards the dining hall. Nuit looked back indifferently. "Care to join me for breakfast?'

Misha swallowed thickly as sweat enveloped his being. He knew better than to leave his room to any part of this house.

"I-I'm not allowed t-to leave,' Misha stuttered weakly. The idea of breakfast was tempting, yet he was hesitant.

Nuit stared at him for a while. This was Bram's house, which meant he had no power whatsoever to disregard his rules.

But the boy was too cute and pitiful. It reminds him too much of his little Nikisha. Still, he had no heart to leave the child to starve. The boy was lacking everything a child should have, and it pains Nuit to watch from the sidelines.

Nuit observed how Misha swallows every now and then. His throat was probably dry.

"How about I bring you something to eat then,' Nuit sighed.

Misha slowly gave a small nod. He hasn't had anything to eat in days; right now, he is ready to eat anything straight from a bin.

He watched as his uncle wheeled away with hopeful eyes. Misha sat by his door waiting patiently, hoping the butler wouldn't stop his uncle from taking food.

His stomach grumbled once again in protest. Placing his head on the door frame, he closed his eyes for a moment. He felt so weak and drained. He wondered if this so-called uncle of his is as wicked as his papa. Or was he extremely wicked to give him hope of survival and then crush it and laugh at his face at how stupid he was to believe him?

He deeply hoped that wasn't the case. Minutes passed, and Misha started to lose his mind. The pain in his stomach elevated, which caused him to crawl back into his room, not minding that the door was ajar.

By the time Nuit arrived with a tray of warm breakfast, the scene before him was heartbreaking. Misha was curled up on the cold, hard floor, shivering.

'Bram, you're heartless bastard,' Nuit hopelessly thought. However, Bram was not to blame. He never wanted the child to begin with.

Nuit knew very well the kind of household Bram grew up in. After all, he was Bram's childhood friend and cousin. Being born in a lab did a number on Bram. And being born with an eye defect was like a stain in the Ashford household.

Bram was raised to trample and build empires, planets, and many more. He wasn't cuddled; he wasn't loved with warmth. Bram wasn't one to get emotionally attached to anything or anyone.

To him, Misha was a failed specimen. He was probably looking for a way to get rid of the boy, and he would do it in a way that his death wouldn't affect his plans and future.

"Poor baby,' Nuit muttered as he wheeled inside the room. "Everything will change for the better.

Azran Planet,1203

The Federation Medical Lab.

Bram observed the eight elementis tied down on rows of beds in the lab. His eyes weigh their worth and quality, like they were goods to be bought.

Bram found himself staring at a slender young man with red hair and heterochromia eyes.

With a thoughtful expression, Bram motioned Tan closer.

"We need to extract enough blood to complete the antidote,' Bram muttered with a cold look on his face. "However, we first need to conduct a few tests on him before that.

Tan glanced casually at the eight struggling "soon to be lab rats". He frowned and checked the radar on the computer.

"The Crokun is spreading rapidly,' Tan announced quietly, like he couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing. "Their next target is Azran Planet.

Bram frowned deeply. "This soon?' How many moons do we have till they arrive?'

"A moon from now!' Tan answered in shock. "Boss, what's the plan?'

Bram quietly ignored him and left the lab in contemplation. Tan immediately followed behind, trying to know what the genius mind would try to do.

Meanwhile, Carl, who heard their conversation, had turned pale.

"This never happened in his past life.
