Seraphina Vale ran down the quiet hallway of Ashford Tower while her phone remained clenched in her hand.
Her pulse beat hard against her ribs because the message on the screen continued replaying in her mind.
Marcus Delaney just entered Lucien's private residence.
Seraphina reached the secured door that separated the executive residence from the corporate offices. She pushed it open and stepped inside without slowing.
The corridor lights glowed softly along the walls. The silence inside the private wing felt heavier than the rest of the building.
"Lucien?" she called.
Her voice echoed slightly, but no answer came.
Seraphina moved forward quickly. Lucien's office door stood half open at the end of the hall.
She hurried toward it.
When she pushed the door fully open, she found Lucien sitting behind his desk while he reviewed documents on a tablet.
He looked up immediately. "Seraphina?"
