[nier: automata] posted a [Machine Lifeform Manufacturing Memory] Red Envelope.
[nier: automata] @[resident evil]: I got this from Adam's memory. Now the mechanical army can be built.
[resident evil]: That was fast. Great, with the manufacturing memory, our progress here won't hit a bottleneck.
[dark souls iii]: Not bad, kid. You actually managed to handle those two naked guys. As expected of the only human in the Nier World, you don't discriminate between genders.
[nier: automata]: –_–
[dark souls iii]: Speaking of which, the Undead Settlement is really disgusting. A bunch of Hollows, and those female evangelists in the Cathedral of the Deep—they're clearly women but dress like fat brothers.
[resident evil]: Who told them to believe in the Deep? Remember to learn some Deep sorceries too; they're quite useful.
[dark souls iii]: I'll try my best.
If the Soul World were compared to a house, the places touched by sunlight are fire and light, the places covered by shadows are the Abyss and darkness, and the filth and insects accumulated in the shadows are the Deep.
Therefore, the Deep born of darkness is no good thing, but as the Ashen One who is a universal vessel, one can also learn Deep sorceries.
[dark souls i] @[dark souls iii]: Come help me fight Havel. Damn, Havel really is the toughest man in the Soul World. I slashed at him once and my sword just shattered.
[dark souls iii]: Coming, coming. Help me fight Havel later too.
[dark souls i]: Sure. When the time comes, I'll wear Havel's set to help you fight Havel.
Havel, the man who runs through the dark souls trilogy. You can find Havel in every dark souls game and obtain the toughest set in the Soul World.
[elden ring]: Must be nice. I want to try ganging up on enemies too.
[marvel]: Don't you have Spirit Ashes? Just be a summoner. Ring the spirit calling bell, and a whole line of spirits will fight for you.
[elden ring]:...But I only have two Spirit Ashes right now. It's a long road ahead.
[elden ring]: By the way, I've finished learning Bernahl's Ashes of War. I'll copy the memory and send it to you guys later. Also, I've reached the Table of Grace and am currently learning Incantations from Brother Corhyn.
[elden ring]: Incantations in the Elden Ring World are quite similar to Miracles in the Soul World. With the memories of those two learning Miracles, I'm learning Incantations pretty quickly.
[marvel]: Must be nice. marvel's magic system is completely different from others. I'm still gnawing through books to learn the basics. That old man Ancient One mocks me all the time. After he dies, I'm going to change the Wi-Fi password.
[Genshin Impact]: Careful, a certain righteous... crime buster might come across worlds to ask for copyright fees. Watch your words.
[marvel]: (°ー°〃)
[marvel]: We're all in the same boat. I think that big shot would be very happy to change the Wi-Fi password of this world too. After all, that big shot... cough, watch your words.
[soul knight] posted a [Weapon] Red Envelope.
[soul knight]: These are all the weapons the leader and I got in the Dungeon. Whoever wants them, just pick and claim them.
[clash of clans]: Hehe, still gotta rely on my max-level spell potions. No matter if it's miners or goblins, it's just a matter of one lightning spell potion.
[dark souls iii]: (#▼dish▼)
[dark souls iii]: If you keep showing off, I'll come to your world and beat you up myself.
[clash of clans]: or2, my bad... nier: automata World.
"Sir? Sir?"
"Ah? Yes?"
The repeated calls woke Xia Yu, who was still immersed in the Chat Group, bringing him back from his daze.
Seeing the worry on Popola's face, Xia Yu shook his head and replied, "Sorry, sorry, I was just spacing out. What did you just say?"
"Sir, we are about to reach the Resistance Army camp. Um, what identity do you wish to go as?"
At this point, Popola leaned in and whispered, "You are also aware that the Lunar Human Council is actually..."
Although she didn't say it explicitly, Popola's meaning was clear—it concerned Xia Yu's current identity.
His true identity was a human from the old era who woke up from a stasis pod, but others didn't know that yet. Only the sisters Popola and Devola were aware of this.
Therefore, Xia Yu had several choices. He could say he was a member of the Lunar Human Council, or he could tell the truth: that the humans on the moon were fake, and he was the last human left from the old era.
"Hmm... let's keep it a secret for now." Xia Yu thought for a moment and decided to see the YoRHa Commander first. "For now, my identity is just 'human.' As for the rest, just say it's classified. I'll talk after I see the YoRHa Commander."
"Understood, sir."
After snapping out of the Chat Group, Xia Yu stopped chatting. The nearest Resistance Army camp wasn't far from the forest.
2B and 9S, who were active nearby, were very familiar with this Resistance Army camp.
To put it nicely, 2B and 9S were very popular among the Resistance; they could strike up a conversation with almost anyone and were recognized by all the personnel. To put it bluntly, 2B and 9S were pure suckers. Their role in the Resistance Camp was that of errand boys, running around for various tasks.
Finding parts, looking for items, trading goods—as long as 2B and 9S were there, the task was definitely theirs.
But they didn't even realize it and happily ran around doing quests.
It was truly heartbreaking to see; what a great pair of tools they were... "Sir, the Resistance Army camp is just ahead. Should I go ahead and notify them?" 2B walked up to Xia Yu and asked.
"No need, we'll explain when we get there." Looking at the ruins of high-rise buildings in the distance, Xia Yu replied calmly.
The Resistance Army camp was built on flat ground surrounded by skyscrapers. Although these skyscrapers showed no signs of collapsing, they were considered dangerous buildings, so no Android would set up camp inside them.
Moreover, to resist Machine Lifeform attacks at any time, the camp was not designed to be complex, maintaining an arrangement that allowed for relocation at any moment.
There were no Androids patrolling the entrance of the Resistance Army camp; their monitoring network could detect Machine Lifeform attacks at any time.
A moment later, the group arrived at the Resistance Army camp... PS: I have a bit of a rant to get off my chest. Since this is a free chapter, I'll put it directly in the main text because the author's note section can't fit it.
While looking up Nier World lore today, I discovered "Angelic Script." This stuff is magical writing. How should I put it? It's very magical but very unscientific.
This script appeared frequently in NieR Replicant and even formed magic circles. Tsk, why did the magic disappear by the time of Automata? It's clearly the same world.
Although there are no magic circles in nier: automata, "Angelic Script" does appear. When pods use skills, you can see a few bits of Angelic Script.
Also, some places have "Angelic Script" characters carved into them. So, rather than a sci-fi world, the nier: automata world is more like a magic world wearing a sci-fi skin. Maso technology isn't scientific at all; it's clearly magic.
Also, the more I research Nier World lore, the more I feel this world is complicated. It turns out the Earth stopped rotating long ago and is divided into day and night halves.
Because day and night don't change, the Earth is divided into the Kingdom of Day and the Kingdom of Night. The night hemisphere is North and South America, while the day hemisphere consists of the other continents. The story of nier: automata takes place in the Kingdom of Day.
As for why the Earth stopped rotating, the game explains it as tidal locking.
This explanation is simply ridiculous. The Earth is tidally locked, yet there are absolutely no problems. Not only have plants not gone extinct, but even biological organisms are living normally.
One can only say everything is magic. After all, the Nier World is a sci-fi (magic) world.
However, to be realistic, the reason is that a day-night system is too troublesome, and the game developers were too lazy to do it, so they just threw in a setting. Plus, a day-night cycle requires global dynamic lighting, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and expensive. If done poorly, optimization suffers. It's better to just have pure daylight, use static light sources, save costs, and keep optimization simple. Then sell it on Steam for 400 yuan—isn't that wonderful!
Besides that, the Nier World has an organization called the World Purification Organization. They created an Android named Yacole, who was sent to the past to explore different timelines and find a way to save humanity.
So the Nier World not only has parallel worlds but also freaking time travel technology. This Yacole is right there in the Kingdom of Night in Automata, occasionally coming to the Kingdom of Day to act as a mysterious weapon merchant.
The Kingdom of Day in the game is the main battlefield, while the other half, the Kingdom of Night, is occupied by aliens—well, now it's occupied by Machine Lifeforms. Moreover, the Bunker cannot reach the Kingdom of Night, and YoRHa Unit Androids cannot fight there either. As for why, I don't know; I couldn't find that information.
To fight in the Kingdom of Night, the Android side created a new weapon called "Dragon." What this "Dragon" is, I don't know; I can't find relevant info. Who exactly is fighting in the Kingdom of Night is also unknown, no info there either, but they are subordinates of the Lunar Human Council, meaning they fall under the "Human Army" headquarters.
So the Androids in the Kingdom of Night are likely "orthodox" Androids, meaning they are loyal to humanity.
And then there's nothing else. The game doesn't provide more info, the official novels don't have it either, and I even searched stage plays, but there's no explanation. It's all up to the players' speculation.
Aaaaah! That old scoundrel Yoko Taro, I am at odds with you!
This world is just too complicated; my head hurts from looking at it. So I'll write it more simply. Just ignore some bugs because I don't know the answers either.
