SELENE POV
The sound of so many footsteps, laughter, whispers, murmuring and different scents in the air as I walked through the school hallway.
" Selene"
I stopped immediately on hearing my name - it was not because I heard my name but the voice that was calling it. I slowly turned. And there she was running towards me like a stampede.
"Owie, that really hurts Kathy."
""Never, am never letting go" Kathy replied coquettishly.
"What are they doing?"
"Get off girl" I said as I tried to push her off the blonde haired.
"Let's go to class, they're weird."
"Kathy get off I think I am about to break, please" I begged.
"Ok, Selene. You should really eat more" Kathy said, extending her hand to me.
"Thank you" We both held hands as we walked through the hallway.
"When did you come back?" I asked, staring at those grey eyes.
"Last night. Did you miss me?" Said Katherine, sweetly with bright eyes.
"No, I didn't," I looked away as I replied.
"Lair, I know you did and I missed you too bestie" Kathy said, her white teeth in view.
"How are your parents?"
"Good, what about auntie Mariam?" said Katherine.
"Mom is alright but I feel like she is hiding something from me" I said.
"What do you mean?" asked Katherine.
"It's just, I can't just pin my finger on it"
"Hmmm" Katherine sighed.
Selene stops, looks directly at Katherine's eyes ." What?"
"This isn't the first time you said your mom is acting weird" said Katherine, her hand on her chin. "Actually you do say it a lot but auntie Mariam seems ok to me, you just think too much."
"But I am serious about this, look-" the sound of a bell cuts in.
"We better run to class," said Katherine ,dragging me along.
"We made it" I said, between heavy pants.
Thankfully we reached the class before our moody Maths teacher came in. I think the people teaching maths have a very irritating personality, treating students like we owe them a million dollars. A cold wind blew through my hair. I stretched my hand and closed the window.
" Selene" Kathy whispered
"What" I whispered back at Katherine
"Look" she pointed with her head towards Vanessa.
Vanessa and Alex were sneakily looking at each other lovingly, did Alex just wink at her.
" I feel like am going to puke" I whispered
"Me too, it's disgusting" Katherine whispered.
" Wasn't she dating Michael from class B"
" How am I supposed to know, what did he ever see in that rich nasty bitch" Katherine snarled.
" I almost wanted to pull her hair out yesterday. She is like an annoying mosquito that I couldn't kill" .
"That would be a sight to see," Katherine said, smirking.
"Yes, it w…."
"Selene Aelyn and Katherine James would you mind telling the class what you both are discussing" Mr Collins demanded.
"Nothing teacher" said Katherine
"Since you both have refused to share with us, maybe running around three times at the field will remind you that you are not allowed to talk during my class, now go," Mr Collins said, calmly.
"Maybe the sun will tan your skin a bit, Selene," Vanessa said, laughing.
" Yes , your right" replied Jenny
"Hahaha"
"Enough, everyone be quiet" Mr Collins shouted.
" Come on, let's go before we catch some ugly disease" Katherine said, staring at Vanessa coldly.
" Yes, your right and wouldn't want to have any blemish on me" I said as I smiled towards Vanessa
Vanessa's chest was heaving up and down due to anger , her eyes bloodshot as she stared at me passing through the door.
My skin feels like it's burning, my clothes are stuck to me, and my legs trembled and ached. Ahh I can't take it anymore, my legs - gave up. I'm going to just lie down here till I can run again.
"No, no, no Selene, get up" Katherine said, breathing heavily
"There's no way I am getting up from here," I said with a crack in my voice. " Stop dragging me, there's no way I'm getting up from here".
Katherine gives up and lies down beside her.
"I feel like I am dying," Katherine said, her chest heaving unevenly.
"Me too,". I raised my hands up , stared at it. It's now a little red thanks to running under the sun.
" Why are you staring at your hands?" Katherine said.
"Nothing" I replied as I put my hand beside her.
"I hope you're not thinking about what Vanessa said," Katherine said, turning towards me.
" No, I am not. What she said doesn't bother me," I said.
"Correct, cause whatever she says is nonsense and not to be given a thought" Katherine said with a serious tone.
"Hahaha, I know," I said, looking up at the sky while holding Katherine's hand.
"Why are you staring at me?" I asked.
"Cause my bestie is so pretty" says Katherine sweetly as she hugs me.
"I think it's time we took you to a mental hospital".
"But am mentally stable, there's no one more stable, pretty, intelligent and sweet like me" Katherine said, confidently.
"Ha, and this your behavior is why people think we're a couple" I say, disgustingly .
"Ewww, they must be crazy, why will I be a couple with you when someone like Jason exists, and he is so sexy". Katherine teased.
I got up and patted dust off my skirt "We better continue our punishment because whenever you start talking about Jason, it's hard to make you stop and then we will be stuck here all day"
"Let's go,we can do this," Katherine said, smiling as they ran.

SELENE POV
I should've asked Katherine to go home with me. Mom always drove me to school, but I had to walk home by myself. Coming home by myself was never a problem- until yesterday. I was scared out of my mind thanks to that voice which by the way sounds so real unfortunately for me. I don't believe in ghosts so what could it be? I might be scared yet for no reason am curious to find out what it was. So that is why I'm stupidly here again. At the same spot.
The tree leaves dancing in the air, the birds chirpy and cold wind blowing through my hair. The crunching sound that the dry leaves make under my feet. Fuck, I'm really scared, but I can't hear anything. Maybe it was just my imagination.. . I shouldn't conclude yet.
I walked around the same spot that I heard the voice, the only thing I could hear was my heartbeat and the sound of my shoes.
Flap, flap.
"Ahh, oh my gosh," I screamed, clutching my chest. " It's just a bird". I think I should go back home besides there's nothing here.
"Were you looking for me?''
