The envelope arrived on a Tuesday morning, and everything changed.
Isla noticed it first while scanning the mansion's front table. Thick cream paper. A silver crest stamped on the seal. The Silvercrest Pack emblem staring back at her like a ghost from a past she thought she'd buried.
Her stomach dropped hard.
She picked it up slowly, like it might burn her fingers or explode in her hands. The weight of it felt dangerous, heavy with memories she didn't want to remember. Damien's cold eyes. His rejection. The way he'd looked at her like she was nothing. The pain of being cast aside by the only home she'd ever known.
Kaia appeared beside her instantly, her wolf senses already prickling with interest. Her sister had a gift for knowing when something big was happening.
"What is it?" Kaia asked, leaning in close enough that Isla could feel her warmth.
