Chapter 4 - Total concentration breathing

"You smell different."

The statement took a while to register but when it did Genya tensed slightly before relaxing and turning to Tanjiro on the bed beside him.

"What's that supposed to mean exactly."

The cheery lively teenager maintained his kind smile despite Genya's narrowed eyes and instead pointed at Inosuke.

"He smells like sweat and the mountains , Zenitsu over there smells like charred wood and sweat. You smell like alot of blood and the forest.

You must be pretty strong if you didn't sweat at all I'm the past 5 days on the mountain."

Genya was stunned to silence and couldn't help but wonder if this was even normal.

Of course , his own Ghoul senses could pick up faint whiffs of what Tanjiro was smelling on everyone else , but for a human to be able to smell that was abnormal.

Suppressing his bewilderment , Genya just gave Tanjiro a tight lipped smile and replied "Without strength , anyone who joins the Corps is just looking for a more gruesome death."

The statement silenced Tanjiro for a beat and his smile faltered abit before brightening again.

"Thanks you for the advice , I will keep that in mind."

Of the now nine survivor's, only Tanjiro , Genya and Inosuke were awake with the rest having passed out from exhaustion immediately they had a meal and took a bath.

Genya's main focus was on his RC cells.

Currently , Genya's RC cell count was already in Pseudo SS levels so he had alot of RC cells in his body. Most ghouls never bothered with gaining greater control over their RC cells , but Genya wasn't satisfied with simply having the powers and experience to use them.

The reason humanity usually overcame their adversaries is because of growth and development which is something other strong races give up on or simply ignore due to dependence on racial advantages.

Genya wasn't ready to die again just yet or ever gain for that matter so he would not stop trying to grow stronger with or without the addition of more templates.

The RC cells in Genya's body were mostly concentrated around his main Kakuhou at his lower back with some fairly potent but less plentiful RC cells also present in his extra Kakuhou as well.

With intense concentration , Genya managed to get a feel for his RC cells and sense them pulsating outward from his different Kakuhou throughout his body.

The RC cells from his Kakuhou had were different from normal Ghoul RC cells though , or atleast he assumed so , since they flowed like a forceful stream of heat through his body.

The fire trait of Tatara's RC cells was especially potent and visible even in the basic flow of RC cells in his body.

Lost in his meditative state , Genya didn't even notice the time pass until he was broken out of his meditation by squaking from his crow.

Just like in the anime , Genya's crow was Hashibami but since the current Genya was significantly different from the original in attitude , the crow liked him more.

Immediately he had arrived at the Butterfly mansion though , Genya decided to get rid of a major headache before it became more difficult to deal with later on.

He had written a letter to his brother the wind Hashira telling him that he and passed the final selection and joined the Corps.

In the letter he respectfully said that since his brother had decided to ignore his existence then then he would look for him in 4 months time and they could settle their differences with fists and blades.

Hashibami came back with a single word reply from the wind Hashira , he had said "Agreed."

The duel didn't even worry him because , the results would be pretty obvious by the time 4 months went by.

Even then , he decided to start off early with breathing techniques.

The breathing technique that Genya was most interested in and felt like would match his current abilities was Flame breathing but learning it would be hard.

Besides the fact that he didn't know if he had the talent , Genya was also pretty uncomfortable with the idea of being fixed to a specific role and responsibility like being the Fire Hashira's successor.

Ontop of that , there was his inability to eat human food since he was now basically a full pure blooded Ghoul.

The chance of being mistaken for a demon and killed was definitely high but Genya had an idea on how to deal with that though it was a fifty-fifty chance.

All that still depended on if Genya's Ghoul physiology had changed his inability to use breathing techniques or not.

Since he was the first to wake up , he left the room and strolled outside of the mansion into the courtyard.

As expected , Genya found a small petite figure hanging freshly washed sheets to dry as the morning sun rose slowly.

"Good morning miss Aoi."

Aoi turned in surprise then on seeing that it was just Genya relaxed since among the final selection participants who came back , he was the only one who had absolutely zero wounds and hadn't even torn a muscle in exertion.

"Good morning Genya , aren't you supposed to be resting in bed?"

The loli doctor had a sort of intimidating aura around her when it came to taking care of people and treating them despite her small stature.

"I wanted to request for you help with something."

She hanged the last sheet and turned to Genya with a questioning gaze and a nod so Genya directly asked.

"I understand that there is rehabilitation training here so I wanted to know if it's possible to learn total concentration breathing from here."

Genya's question made Aoi freeze in place and she scanned Genya intently before softly asking.

"You mean , you went for the final selection without knowing Total concentration breathing?"

Genya nodded like it wasn't a big deal then answered saying "I tried before and failed but I want to try again one more time."

The Loli first looked up in disbelief and just stared at the sky for almost a full minute then just sighed before turning back to Genya.

"Even though you are completely fine and were not injured , lady Shinobi's recommendations were for you to take atleast a day to rest.

If you are sure you want to try learning Total concentration breathing then wait for me to finish my duties and I will teach you."
