Night fell over Ignivar Town.
The glowing lanterns along the streets burned softly, their flames dancing in the warm volcanic air. Most of the town had gone quiet, with only the distant sounds of blacksmiths finishing their work echoing through the night.
Inside the Ignivar Volcanic Research Institute, Elior sat beside a large table covered with ancient sketches and stone fragments.
Infernyx rested near the doorway, its flames dim but steady.
Voltiger lay curled beside Elior's chair, faint sparks occasionally crackling around its body.
Lunashade remained near the window, staring silently into the darkness outside.
Professor Kaedra studied the ancient tablet again.
"The carvings clearly show three forces," she said quietly.
She pointed at the symbols.
"Flame. Shadow. Lightning."
Elior looked at Infernyx, Lunashade, and Voltiger.
"That's… exactly my team."
Kaedra nodded slowly.
"And according to the tablet, when those forces unite through something called Resonance… the one beneath the earth begins to awaken."
Before Elior could respond—
Lunashade suddenly moved.
Its silver eyes flashed.
Its shadow stretched across the floor like a warning.
Infernyx lifted its head instantly, flames rising.
Voltiger jumped up, sparks snapping loudly.
Elior stood.
"…Someone's here."
Outside the institute, three cloaked figures moved silently through the shadows.
Agents of Team Umber.
One of them pressed a device against the ground.
The device began scanning the earth below the town.
A faint pulse of energy spread through the soil.
The agent spoke quietly into a communicator.
"Phase Two has begun."
A voice answered from the other side.
"Begin excavation."
The second agent released a small metallic sphere.
The sphere rolled across the ground and activated.
BOOM.
A controlled explosion shook the ground.
Inside the institute, shelves rattled violently.
Stone fragments clattered across the floor.
Kaedra grabbed the edge of the table.
"They're breaking into the underground ruins!"
Elior ran toward the door.
Infernyx followed instantly, flames blazing brighter.
Voltiger sparked with excitement.
Lunashade's shadow moved across the walls like a living creature.
Outside, dust and smoke rose from the street.
A section of the ground had collapsed, revealing a dark tunnel descending deep beneath the town.
The Team Umber agents stood beside it.
One of them turned as Elior ran toward them.
"So," the agent said calmly.
"The Resonance trainer arrives."
Elior stepped forward.
"What are you doing here?"
The agent smiled slightly beneath the hood.
"Awakening the future."
He reached for a Pokéball.
"Stop them," Elior said.
Infernyx roared.
Voltiger crackled with electricity.
Lunashade's shadow surged across the ground.
The agent threw the Pokéball.
A burst of dark energy exploded into the air as a large Pokémon emerged.
The battle had begun.
And far below—
Deep within the ancient caverns—
The enormous eyes that had opened earlier began glowing brighter.
The tremors returned.
Stronger this time.
Something beneath Ignivar Town was rising.
